Reality check

Although the Chicago Bears are the defending NFC champions, the 2007 team looks like a shell of the 2006 model. The defense, despite its reputation, has looked susceptible in several games this season, and the offense is still error-prone and erratic.

The Vikings' win at Soldier Field was huge (they hadn't won there since 2000), but how good this team really is will be determined Sunday in Dallas.

There is no question the Cowboys are the class team in the NFC. They are 5-1, boast the No. 2 offense and the No. 11 defense.

This will be the Vikings' toughest challenge both on offense and defense.

I will say this. The tackling has been eratic for the Cowboys at times. With Peterson running the ball, it had better not be or we could be looking at a very tight game.

And if we continue getting off to slow starts in the first quarter (dropped passes/missed blocks/poor throws/penalties), it could be a long day.

Stack the run, get Roy involved, and hope like heck they don't figure the passing game out.

All those teams that have had success over the Bears since we beat them in Chicago should be thanking the Cowboys. It was our tough physical play & the Bears defense ineffectiveness in getting to Romo lead to various injuries. I checked out various Chicago newspapers after that game just to see what they were saying. I do know that the Chicago newspapers reported that the entire secondary of the Bears would not be playing in their next game because of injuries sustained during the Cowboy game. At that point I don't remember whether Tommie Harris was also mentioned but he did leave the field during the Cowboy game due to some kind of physical problem.
