He could of gone over 300 but Childress held him out. Mortsen said that this guy was the only player he ever saw that he thought could go from high school to the NFL. Is it me or is this guy just a notch above everybody else. Its like hes in a league of his own and thats pretty scary considering he is a rookie. My question is this, do you think he will be the first back to gain 2500 in one season. With all of his long runs its defintly possible. I know thats an avearge of about 150 a game but he already had 1,000 yards in 8 games and thats with getting only 10-12 carries in three of them. Pretty scary thought this guy getting 300 carries in one season. I think he gets 2500 and 20 tds one year. If he stays healthy hes on pace to being the best running back ever. Collinsworth and a few other guys already said hes the best running back in football already. Opinions. Emmitt's record could be in jeporaday because I beileve Peterson is only 22.

My other question is if Parcells had him would he of used his patent lets not send him to Canton yet?{S]

Gotta see if his body holds up.

He definitely has the skill set to break all sorts of records though.

I think the distinction of being best back still definitely falls on LT's shoulders, but AD is amazing, esp. considering he's the only option, that is one nice Oline he has though, Minny is going to need to get a QB because he could be LT of '07 in a year or 2, getting bottled up because noone is taking the pressure off of him

To me, hes just the next generation athlete. You went from Brown to Payton to Dickerson to Sanders to Emmitt to Tomilson and now to Peterson. This is what Reggie Bush was suppose to be last year. Reggies is an amazing athlete but he cant use his athletic ability like Peterson can.

Nice point Bob, in addition to not getting enough carries, he is the only option in that offense. Wait till they get a QB. The Eagles played 10 guys up in the box last week for like 80 percent of the game. Wait until he gets a QB and gets 300 carries, look out record books because he is going to rewrite them.

...and we held him to 64 yards!

Of course, they had a half decent QB in there today.

He couldn't have gone straight from HS to the NFL. He didn't look this good in college, but I guess that experience helped him. McFadden is a good player but he doesn't have the speed that Peterson has shown in the NFL. He's not going to break as many tackles. Yes you can't put him in Canton yet but you can say that about a lot of young players. You can say the same thing about our young QB, but a lot of people are already putting him at that level.

AD is awesome. Not only does he have a unique combination of speed and strength but he runs with the sort of reckless abandon and determination that is second only to MBIII. I hope he stays healthy and has a long career because he sure is fun to watch.

We held him to 64 yards on like 10 carries. Still 6 yards a carry average. What Im saying what will his numbers look like when he get 20-25 carries every game?

He only had that many carries because their offense couldn't pass and our offense stayed on the field a lot in the 2nd half. It seemed like their offense was only getting 3 and outs every time. Then they had to start passing it to get back in the game and they just don't use AD in the pass game.

I love watching AD run as well. He is certainly taking the fun to a different level.

Fastest RB I've ever seen...This guy is 5 notches above the best Rbs in the league.

Even though Dallas wasn't in line to get him in the draft... wow... I can only dream how our offense would be if he was on the Boys.

I know other GMs that drafted before the Vikings are just kicking themselves for not drafting him.

Minny can't throw. They'll be sending 8 man fronts. They should be doing that already. If Minny had a passing game this guy would REALLY be scary.

i wouldnt say Emmitt's record is in jeopardy just yet. Lets see how well AP takes care of his body, so far no other RB has done that as well as Emmitt has.

That is the truth. And there is some luck involved as well as just maintaining ones body. Obviously, Peterson is a beast and is fun to watch, but he was hit with some bad luck while in college. Way too soon to predict he will be the one to break the all time rushing record. He will be a good one though.

In half a season he has over a 1000 yards. In 1.5 seasons, Reggie Bush has 999 rushing yards.

He may not be going to Canton just yet but he is proving what some of us thought and that is he is a hell of a RB.

How 6 teams passed on this guy is amazing. And people we're drooling over Calvin Johnson? A guy who touches the ball 6-8 times a game vs. a guy who touches the ball 25-35 times a game? Anyone who saw him play a down in college knew he was special. It's the 2nd most important position on the team, and the Arizona Cardinals reached for a right tackle over him? Incredible. I guess that's what makes them the Cardinals.

Marshawn Lynch is having a very good rookie year too, but he's getting completely overshadowed by Peterson.

I can understand some of those teams going for another need. But Detroit has a stud WR in Williams and they have 2 or 3 other good ones with him. They didn't need a WR. They don't really have a great run game.

Arizona needed a RB because James is just not the same back without Manning. He never has been. Yes most of that is because of health. But they went after an OT and they now have the 25th ranked run game in the NFL. Go with an AD that average is probably up 100 yards a game if not more.

Cleveland is also a team that could use a running back.

Minn may have gotten one of the best steals ever in the draft. This guy will be the best running back in the league for a long time.

But the guy never looked half this good at OU.

???

I watched him in his first game as a true freshman, and I thought he could have been a Top 5 draft pick if he came out that day.

Maybe if Stoops wouldn't have ran him into the ground as a freshman with 300+ carries, he would have stayed healthy.

He was always running into blockers and didn't follow holes that well. He was really good at OU and is one of the 10 best backs ever at OU. And he had an amazing freshman year but he never showed the top level speed he's shown in the NFL so far. He was a physical back with some speed but not this type of speed.

McFadden is really slow compared to the Peterson in the NFL so is Barry Sanders, Greg Pruitt, or any other big time speed type back you can put in there.
