We need 36 more sigs by Thanksgiving to get us to 1000. If you haven't signed the petition for the Tom Landry Stadium and wish to do so here is the link:
http://www.petitiononline.com/Landry/petition.html
I know some will want to post things here about how it's not a good idea and they will post an old article about how it's worth a billion dollars to jerry yada yada yada. Don't bother, we've heard it before. This is simply letting those that care about know that we are getting ready to wrap it up and I would love to have at least 1000 signatures. I will be printing it off and sending it certified to Jerry Jones after the Thanksgiving day game.
Thanks in advance

34 now, after I signed.
This would be the ultimate classy move and help Jerry win back some old-school fans who feel he dissed Landry

20 more to go after I signed it. In all honesty, from a business standpoint, there's absolutely no reason why Jones can't have his cake and eat it too. For example, why not include both? It would sound something a little like this when broadcasting the game:
"Live from Tom Landry Stadium brought to you by/presented by [insert corporate sponsor]"
It's certainly feasible.

I'm thinking Tom Landry Field at Whatever StadiumDr. pepper was a chief bidder last i heard.
The new facility is either going to be Tom Landry Field or Dr.Pepper Stadium when it opens in 2009 to my knowledge.

Yep, works just as well. The beauty of it is that J. Jones not only gets his sponsor's "big bucks" but he also gets to honor the man who was directly responsible for making the Cowboys what they are today. Credit should also be given to Tex Schramm as the man behind the scenes but it might be asking too much.

We're getting a great stadium because they're able to count on selling the naming rights. I prefer a good stadium with a bad name over a bad stadium with a good name.

Thanks everyone! We made it but would like to make up for the idiot at #990.
Some folks are just morons.
Again thanks to everyone who signed and we will keep it up until after the TDay game and then ship it off to Jerry!

Some folks are just morons.
Is there not a nice bone in your entire body? Why do you constantly have to put down those who don't flippin agree w/ you? Everyone knows the stadium naming rights are going to be sold to the highest bidder. Everyone knows that !!!! Even those who signed this rediculous attempt of swaying JJ's mind on the matter. Bottom line in the NFL today is that it's a BUSINESS. If you don't understand that by now. Just who really is the moron?

Maybe the moron is the one who doesn't read the whole post. I was referring to the idiot who put foul language in the petition when they signed it. (#990)
Maybe the moron is the guy in your mirror.
As I said at the beginning of this thread, this is not a thread debating the merits of it, just an attempt to let folks know where we were. but you want to parade your opinion on here which is fine and all but you have to act like this and you don't even read the whole post. OR you have a comprehension problem.

I read this thread ages ago or one you created a while back regarding this same subject. Forgive a brother if it appeared you were going off again on folks not agreeing w/ your little petition here.
If you were not, then I apologize. It just looked like a duck again to me.

First I never said that I had a problem with someone not agreeing with it. just that the threads were meant to let people know about it. My "little" petition is appreciated by more people than you would know from the emails I've received.
As far as your apology, it's accepted and we can move on, because it was directed towards the guy who put the foul language in the petition.

I hope he does the right thing too. Getting an ungodly amount of money to pay your players and keep them in Dallas is the right thing, IMHO.

He will. Even if he sells the naming rights to the stadium, it can still have Landry's name it. And maybe it would be worth more. Tom Landry Field at Dr. Pepper Stadium works real well.
