Suppose we kept Bryant (and remeber, next year he'd still be under contract). Now suppose the draft rolls around and we take a WR with a high pick. How do you think AB would react to a young talent coming in? And remeber, he reacted to an old talent coming in - i.e. Key - by throwing a jersey in the coache's face. Me? I think you're thinking what I'm thinking - that we could look forward to offseason turmoil had we kept bryant and draft a WR, and AB would be at the very core of that turmoil.
Also, after the Parcells-jersey-in-face incident it was Parcells and Jones who put Bryant on a short leash. And appearently Bryant just traded himself away, especially if reports are true that he overrode his coach's judgment by stayting in the game and forced us to take a timeout ot avoid a "12 men on the field" penalty.
In short, I'm not sad to see AB go. By getting rid of his antics and insubordinate attitude we now free ourselves to add to the WR position. At least we got something for AB right now (and appearently the NFL was not willing to give up much at all). They new WR may or may not stick, and I think he was brought in just to keep AB's seat warm untyil this offseason. But whether or not he sticks does not matter, because either way we are now free to draft WR without an AB-backlash. And that my friends, is the additiion by subtraction that this team desperately needs.
