Unforgiven

I happen to be one of those posters who think the Cowboys are better than their record and are about to rip off a big winning streak to prove it. A better play call on fourth and an inch, and Witten protecting the ball better at the end of the first half, and I think we beat the Giants. We let them back in the game, both mentally and by the scoreboard. We all know about Pittsburgh. They thank their lucky starts every night they got that lucky win.
Thing about it is, even bad luck runs out. The time has come. I truly see us ripping off four or five straight wins. I said two weeks ago that I thought we would be the first team to knock off the Eagles this year. So it goes, Green Bay, Detroit, Cincinatti, and Philadelphia, followed by a loss the following week as a let down at Baltimore. That's 6-4 right there. If we split the rest of our games, we end up 9-7 and maybe in the playoffs.
I like the thought of Henson as much as anyone, but I really think we will end up being a better team than most of you expect.

My friend, I would forgive even the Unforgiven if we ran off 4 or 5 straight wins. But unfortunately, we have some serious heat breathing down our necks soon.
I'll take 1 straight win for now.

I agree, but as Eddie says, we have to take it one game at a time.
It's hard to be upbeat in the face of two consecutive losses, but I also feel this team is about to come together in a big way.

Part of me agrees with you. The teams we have lost to are not exactly the dregs of the league. I believe their combined record is 13-3.

Well, Clevelend and Washington are the dregs of the league in my opinion.

But we didn't lose to them. :)
I do think we're better than 2-3. I think even Parcells realizes that, and maybe that's why he sounded much more upbeat yesterday in his PC.

The Cowboys have played a tough schedule so far.
My best hope is that they win the next 3 games (Packers, Lions, and Bengals) and come in 5-3 against Philly and hope it's an "anything can happen" type of game or that Philly starts to come to earth.
I don't have that much of a problem with the offense. It's more or less an issue of not making stupid mistakes. The execution is there, but they don't have the explosiveness to make up for the mistakes.
Defensively, I don't like what I see. The DT play and Wiley hasn't been good and it's affecting the LB play. I more optimistic on the play of the secondary than most people are.

No, they each have a couple of wins. Miami, Arizona, Buffalo, etc. are the dregs of the league.

you are correct...even bad luck runs out sometime.
So we will have our answer, one way or the other, in November or December.

I agree. You're team could fight for a playoff spot if you play to your potential, or you could underachieve like the saints.

Considering the past two weeks performances . . . I have a really hard time being optomistic about anything.
If we can beat Green Bay, I'll be impressed.
However, I think Favre, Green, Walker, Driver, and crew are going to once again expose Mike Zimmer as one of the worst defensive coordinators in the game.

i think we are better than our record, but it's tough to be optimistic right now when you look at our schedule.

I was surprised/relieved at how upbeat he sounded yesterday. I still think the team can make it into the playoffs as a wild card. The real trick will be whether they can do what BP talked about in an earlier PC this week--learn to win. He was talking about his Pats team who started out 1-8 (or worse), but hung in there & eventually ended up the season winning 5 or 6 games.
Hopefully our record won't be that bad this season!
He made an offhand reference to how he was really trying to buck the team up this week. I think that will work. I love BP, but I kinda wonder if his busting on them the past few weeks wasn't wearing down the youngsters who are still developing that mental toughness they need.

While I do think we , talent wise may be a bit better than our record, WE ARE NOT A GOOD TEAM.
Too many stupid mistakes makes you a bad team. And I am not talking about coaching decisions either.
I also will not fall into the trap that we are a better team this year with a worse record. So far, at this point, we are a worse team this year, mainly because we are playing less disciplined football, poor defense (less talent there) and we have not found our running attack.
