Why does everybody on the planet try to give that nickname to another team? It's a nickname given to the Dallas Cowboys.... get over it already.
Why not steal some other teams nickname, call the Patriots "The Greatest show on Turf(Earth, whatever)" or say the Giants have the "Steel Curtain" defense, or the "New York Sack Exchange" at least that pertains to another team that plays in their stadium, or better yet call them The Big Blue Wrecking Crew two.....

:banghead:/rantThe top line in my sig is actually a link. There's a paragraph in there explaining why that nickname is so coveted by other teams. It also explains why none of them can have it.

No wait a sec....
The moniker "America's Team" was giving to us when we couldnt win the big one right? So it stood for runner up or always a bridgesmade never a bride...
So why would any media or anyone want to "steal" that moniker?
Did we redefine the meaning of the moniker when we won SB's?
Historically things like that have happened... is that the case here?

...the "New York Sack Exchange"...
Wow, I've never heard this one. That's pretty sweet though. And definitely fits with their team.

You really never heard of it? It was given to the Jets in the 80's when it was Mark Gastineau, Mary Lyons, Joe Klecko, and the fourth guy escapes me for some reason. Anyone remember the fourth guy?

I was just ranting, about how it gets a little old seeing "Is _____ the new America's Team?" or "New Orleands Saints The New America's Team" or "The Patriots are now America's Team" or "The Green Bay Packers The REAL America's Team" ....... Just gets annoying because they don't try and steal any other team's nickname, and I was just venting a little :o:

Oh. Well... I was born in 1983... that may have something to do with it.
It's alright by me if they call Eli "America's Tool".

it's a nickname that this current team hasn't lived up to. i know you feel we had a "great" season. but 13 REGULAR SEASON wins means nothing if you get knocked out in the 1st playoff game.

Corey Glover could flat out bring it on vocals.
Besides the 3 I told you about, check out "Love Rears Its Ugly Head."

Yeah, yeah, yeah,...........
Blah, blah, blah,.........
Last years "America's Team" was the Saints.
They year before that, it was Carolina.
Tampa? Seattle? Baltimore????
Whoever is this years "parity, free agency, salary cap, OUT OF NOWHERE" one-year-wonder is the new "darling" America's Team.
Be flattered that they use our moniker to label this years sacrificial lamb to the AFC the new "Americas Team". Hell, I remember after Brett Favorereereere and HIS Green Bay Packuhs FINALLY won a ring, even they were labeled "The New America's Team". Yeah, right. Look how long THAT lasted.
All this "cinderella" crap about the ****ty Giants will come to a crashing end when they play a Patriot team with something to play for. And, two weeks to prepare against a team they beat with their taxi squad. Look for the most points scored EVER in a Super Bowl by any one team, AND, the largest margin of victory EVER. I'm thinking 64-3 if the new "America's Team" is lucky.

I don't recall ANY of those other teams being "America's Team" or "darling". I'll give you the Saints because of what they did after Katrina, but the rest are so bad you can't even consider them a stretch.
