View Full Version : The Calls for change
As much as every other Cowboys fan, I would love to see a change made that would get this team back on the winning track. I really don't see any that could be made though. The only one I would really advocate is getting Henson some PT if the season is in the tank.
Some examples...
Bradie James -- everyone loves him, but this guy is getting blown up in the run game. That 90 yarder today went right at him. The 58 yarder by Tiki went right at him. A major liability against the run. What the heck were him and Dex doing in there at the same time anyway? What package is that?
Shanle/O'Neil/Thornton -- These guys are scrubs. Putting them in won't help. You can't even really qualify Thornton as LB yet since all he does is rush the passer from a DE position.
Crayton -- I like his potential too, but seriously he is on the practice squad. Receiver hungry teams have made no move to put him on their active roster. Last year he played QB in NAIA which is a small step above high school football. Typically, WR takes a year or two to learn even if you are a talent.
Rogers/Vollers -- I think Tucker has played fine. If these guys aren't beating him out on a weekly basis, they aren't an upgrade.
ReShard Lee -- An undrafted free agent who has less than 20 carries. The reason he doesn't play. Maybe he isn't that good, but I do encourage all the armchair GMs who are convinced of his terrific abilities around to here to forward their resume to a NFL team this offseason.
Henson -- This is one change I make when the team is eliminated from playoff contention and not a day before unless the game is out of hand. Would have liked to have seen him today when the game was out of reach.
Anyway, I think this teams needs a talent infusion. Putting backups in isn't going to do much to help at this point. Ride it out and hope the next offseason is better.

Well Junk being an undrafted FA does not mean crap just like Larry Brown was never a SB MVP (12th round pick = fa in todays nfl) So I do not buy that argument.
Plus last I looked the current scrubs are not getting the job done. Hell at least give the unknown scrubs a chance to shine hell it can not get worse 41-20 looks like a D1 team versus a DIaa team

If I'm not mistaken, Green Bay just hired Ron Wolf as a team consultant part-time.

I'll be happy if we just get the ball started by getting rid of Deadric Ward.
If he isn't making a fair catch he's gaining 5 yards with 3 lead blockers.
I'll take my chances with Crayton. No guts, no glory.

Maybe the "Make sure we only arm tackle" package? I'm guessing it's one towards the back of the defensive playbook.

Our offensive line can open up holes for the running game. None of our current running backs seem to have the ability to hit those holes in a timely manner. People call for him to come in because they hope he can consistently do that. He has burst. Our other runners don't. I'd rather go with a MAYBE than a CAN'T.

I'd like to see a stunning turn of events where Vinny Testaverde is cut because he isn't showing us anything for the future, since that's what we're playing towards apparently. Unless Testaverde is going to be playing here five years from now, or if Parcells actually believes we can go 8-2 to finish out the season, Drew Henson should start the next game.
Oh yeah, and cut Lynn Scott. Just because we haven't heard that in awhile.

Dude, if we can have a GROZ movement that goes on forever, at least we can have a GM movement.
Better then a BM movement.

Correct me if I am wrong, but since he was inactive, could he have even played?

Yes, but if he played but got injured then Vinny and Tony wouldn't be allow to return since he was the 3nd QB for todays game

Then I'd guess he won't play unless he's listed as #2.

James needs to be playing more, because the two guys starting at OLB now wont be here next year. Niether Singleton or Coakley are playing exceptional football...agree on the other backup LB's, they are not starting material...
disagree on Crayton because he was better returning kicks and punts in preseason than anyone else we have trotted out there...Dedric Ward shouldnt be taking up a roster spot ahead of any capable warm body
I think they need to start seeing what Jacob Rogers can do...Tucker hasnt played very well, especially in run blocking...in pass blocking alot of the time he either gets help or gets beat...
Rashard Lee is faster and has more quickness than either Eddie George or Richie Anderson...there is no doubt alot of the plays these guys got 3-5 yds on, Lee would have gained alot more...I know they used the pass blocking excuse, but both George and Anderson have given up sacks
I'd throw out Keith Davis seeing the field some ahead of Dixon now...not sure what the issue is there, because Dixon is major liability in pass coverage and misses alot of tackles...
on Henson, I think the season is basically over whether they want to admit it or not. I'm sure Parcells wont do it, but Henson should start this week and for the rest of the yr, barring injury...I think he'll definitely start by Thanksgiving

Actually James is the only GOOD LBer we have...Our D is based on everyting being set up for lil dat...
Thats the guy who isn't good enough or big enough...
A MLB should make big, tough plays...Lil dat dude is easily blocked and has never hit a back and made him go backwards...
But from a idiot DC zimmy/squiggy WUSS who doesn't even have one FS on the whole team, I should expect we play a MLB who wouldn't even start on any other TEAM!

If Henson was put in the only way Vinny or Romo could play is if Henson was hurt or at least that is how I understand it.

Wolf for BP at GM!
Dude you might want to actually get a fact right. Parcells is NOT the GM--Jerry Jones is. Geez, all you need to do is look at DallasCowboys.com under Executives. Or you might want to, um, actually read an occasional article. Every story about Parcells when he was signed (hey, "60 Minutes" talked about it a couple of weeks ago if reading is too difficult for you) mentioned that he was NOT the GM & that he was willing to concede that to Jerry.
Also, articles about Wolf specifically say (as in this past summer) that he DOESN'T want to work full-time for a team. That's why he consulted with the Cowboys instead of signing with them.
By the way, still waiting to see your team list of moves you would have made, listing salaries & bonuses & fitting them under the salary cap. Because we'll all be happy to forward that right to Valley Ranch.
Correct me if I am wrong, but since he was inactive, could he have even played?

actually the 3rd QB can come in the game at any time, but if he does the #1 and #2 QB's cannot play even if the 3rd guy gets injured.

Unless it's the 4th quarter ... then all three QB's can be brought in and out as needed.

Bravo, Junk, for pointing out what is both obvious and obviously what we don't want to admit. I had the same thought yesterday re James, as he was demonstrating  his youthful indiscretions.
There is no one sitting who is going to make a fundmental difference to this season. Parcells IS playing the best players he has. Drew I want to see asap, but it is a fact he is not exactly going to have his skills showcased to best advantage with a defense (a QB's best friend) playing so abysmally, and the run game still not run enough (give Eddie the ball, Bill, he is your ONLY shot at the ball control and balance you need to pull this season out ) .
As for Ward, he appears the least valued of the despised Parcells Guys, and rightfully so, but I had to agree with Drew Pearson last night when he asked what is Randal Williams still doing on this roster.
I was bit surprised it was the FIRST thing DP harped on in his post game comments, but it is irking the man, really agitating him evidently. With all the things there were to go off on, Drew sounded off on keeping players around who don't contribute, and pointed out that doing so sends the wrong message to the team. Two receivers down yesterday and we had to go to Ward, because one of the YOUNG players is virtually useless.
The sad truth is the young players sitting (not counting the injured like JJ and the oline, or Drew) are not as good as what we've got on the field.
