Times like these can be very frustrating for us fans.
Things will get better.
It may not be apparent this year,or maybe even next, but we will get better.
We have a future in Henson, Julius, Morgan, Witten, Roy, etc....
Moreover, we still have two picks in the first round which we can use as part of overhauling our defense. If we don't select Mike Williams, we could always go after impact players like a Rodrique Wright, Antajj Hawthorne , and Antrell Rolle.
Paciencia, people.

The problem with these multi year plan as while you are feeling holes, you current players get old.
This is a win now league.

What's your plan? Other than hiring Ron Wolf, what does this team need to do to return to the playoffs next year?

If you want to call it rebuilding.
We have a future in Henson, Julius, Morgan,
We dont know if we have a future in Henson or Julius considering each has hardly played, thats why I want to see Henson play so bad. This way we might know if we need a QB in the draft. Morgan will be a solid contributor I believe but still the guy has had one decent game...woo....whoo....

Glad you asked.
We need to bring in a GM, no doubt!
The goal is not to throw every dollar in Free Agency, just for the sake of bringing in some names. But to use it in combination with the draft to get better.
Look for value, understanding that the market sets value.
Last off season we had a lot of needs CB, RB, DE, DT, QB, RT and little did we know a replacement for Woodson at safety.
The goal since Free Agency come first is to try and find some value in free agency that will allow you to address some needs which ultimately gives you more flexability in the draft.
Duce as a RB was a resonable priced FA, who has the chance to complete a contract because of his age. He is the first deal I would of done.
There were mixed reviews as to whether any of the CB were worth the dollars Vincent, Taylor, Springs etc. This was a valid debate. Taylor and Vincent were older and Springs did not stay healthy. But Springs has played very well and Tyrone Williams who we just picked up for nothing seems like he can still play. Bottom line we should of done something even if it was only Williams at the beginning of camp as a insurance policy.
Why we paid Wiley I will never know, when Winstrom and Berry were on the market.
But bottom line if you brought in Duce or Dillion & Berry or Winstrom we would of solved two of our needs.
This would of allowed us to remove RB & DE or CB off of our needs list.
It's about using both tools, instead we took the Walmart approach and brought in no one but Wiley.
What do we do next year, how can that be awnsered until we play the young guys now. That is what the rest of the year is for now sadly at this point.

Playing Henson now will not give us any idea if we need to draft another QB
Rick Mier looked good his rookie year and has suxed ever sense
Drew Brees looked bad last year this year he looks like a solid qb not great just a solid qb who team is 4-3 now when they where suppose to be bad. Brees has played well enough that their 1st round qb(Phillips) is still on the bench when they had plans to start him this year.
Bret Farve was up and down his 1st three years as a starter and looked really bad at times so rushing to judge Henson this year will still leave you with questions. In the preseason we saw he has the physical tools to make it in the NFL on the rest it will take a good 2-3 years to really know
JJ was the best back on the roster in preseason his injury will set back his time table but it is to early even if he does go to IR this year to give up on him see Jamal Lewis who was lost for the 1/3 of his rookie year than blew out his acl right before his sophomore year.

Exactly.
Everyone should understand that Dallas this season is working with a new QB, a new RB, new WR's and new wrinkles in the offense. Parcells tried to tweak and improve last season's defense by adding Wiley and trying out several options at CB. Then they lose Woodson, the secondary leader, and the defensive changes just are not working out even close to what Bill planned.
As far as Favre and Co. exploiting the defense, that is to be expected as the Packers have an explosive offense. They have one the best O-line's in the league, they have one of the best RB's in the league, they have one of the best QB's in the league and a Pro Bowl TE and a very capable set of budding WR's. If Dallas had even an average defense, they would have been able to slow the Pack offense and allow the Cowboy offense to be on the field more. Dallas' defense just plain stinks.
