7. Shawne Merriman

Though 12.5 sacks is nothing to sneeze at, Merriman averaged only 0.83 sacks a game one season after ringing up 1.4 sacks per game on the juice. In the playoffs, "Lights Out" had only one sack in three games and was practically invisible for long stretches of the Chargers' loss to the Patriots in the AFC title game. If you count the playoffs, Merriman's sack-per-game average dropped from 1.38 in '06 to 0.75 this season

Is Ware on the juice now or did Wade have something to do with Ware's production?

Playmakers make plays no matter who the coach is. Roidman disapeared in the playoffs. There are no excuses for that.

Not really. Depends on the scheme of the defense as well. If the scheme doesn't put a player in a position to make plays, then someone else will and it may appear that the "playmaker" is no longer making plays when in fact, he has a new job responsibility and it allows for more plays to be made by someone else.
This may be the case with SM.

For pass rushers most schemes call on them to make plays. Beat the guy or guys in front of you and get to the QB.

Roidman was supposed to rush the passer. Are you claiming that it was all schemes that prevented him from doing anything?
what a joke/ he came up small when he needed to be large, simple as that.

I don't steroids were the entire reason (if they were part of the reason to begin with) that his numbers dipped.
Shaun Phillips numbers dropped as well. I think scheme played a role in this. And also, Williams wasn't as dominant as he was last year. Castillo was placed on IR.
Regardless.... we'll be fortunate if Spencer becomes a Merriman type player. I have high hopes Spencer will and our duo of Ware/Spencer will be looked upon as the model for teams to copycat after when building a 3-4 defense.
