I am changing some things though.
1a. Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona, 6'0", 190. You can accuse me of being a homer and I'm not going to deny it. However, I won't apologize for it either. Cason is good. How good? Good enough to be the 2007 Jim Thorpe Award winner as the best DB in the Nation. This guy knocks passes down with regularity. In 2007 he defelected 14 passes (32 in his career). If he gets his hands on it (5 INTs in 2007, 15 in his career) he often goes the other way (twice in 2007, 3 times in his career). He's a solid tackler (71 tackles in 2007, 232 in his career). He also returns punts. I've never seen anyone make that job look so effortless. He'll move what looks like 6 inches and the tackler will fly right by him. He is a 2 time Team Captain so you also get good character.
1b. Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas, 6'0", 200. Going to take a RB earlier in this Draft and the guy I think we're going to target is Felix Jones. Version 1 had him until right before I submitted the Mock. Felix is a perfect solution for the Cowboys. He is used to sharing the load, but has the ability to be the lead guy if we choose to use Barber as we have been doing, or he can be the change of pace guy as he is at Arkansas. This is a pick we'll never regret.
2nd round. Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College, 6'7", 315. A pick that I still believe could be headed to Detroit for Roy Williams. For now we'll assume we keep the pick. Let's get an earth mover OT in case it's the end of the road for Flo. Here he is. If he ends up in Dallas we could have bookend Boston College Eagles on the O-line. He has first round talent and Boston College has a History of good O-linemen in the NFL. Dare I say it? This is my annual pedigree pick.
3rd round. Adarius Bowman, WR, Oklahoma State, 6'3" 220. I'm a little shocked that his stock is dropping, but that could be a coup for the Cowboys because if he develops (and I admit WR is hit or miss more than any other position) then he could be a key ingredient in keeping the Offense dangerous. He is a chain mover along the lines of Keyshawn Johnson without the USC hype machine. I'd rather go WR in the middle rounds if we can't have the no doubt best guy and try and develop him.
4th round. Owen Schmitt, FB, West Virginia, 6'2", 247. You can't budge me from thinking this guy is a perfect fit in Dallas. Schmitt has two stats that just jump off the page at you. 106 knockdowns and 17 TD blocks. That means 106 times the guy he was blocking hit the ground and 17 times he sprung someone for a TD score. Those stats are unreal for an Offensive Lineman much less a FB. This guy plays with attitude and passion. Our offense needs some of that. Combine him with Barber and we have the meanest RB duo in the NFL. I don't think I have ever seen a more ferocious blocking FB in my life. He has broken 10 facemasks on his own helmets in his college career. That means this guy leaves it on the field every play.
5th round. Curtis Johnson, OLB, Clark Atlanta, 6'3" 239. I know what you are thinking. Who? Where? In a 3-4 Defense you have to have depth at LB and this kid can flat out play. He had 27 tackles for losses and 13.5 sacks and was the SIAC Defensive player of the year. If I had to predict anyone is going to rise beyond his college this is the kid.
6th round. Spencer Larsen, ILB, Arizona, 6'2", 243. I know, I know, I went homer again. Yeah I did and with good reason. This guy is a born to play football. He was the Defensive MVP of the East - West Shrine Game and the unquestioned inspirational leader of the Wildcats defense. 131 tackles in 2007, 15.5 for losses, 4 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 5 pass deflections and an INT. Why the 6th round for a guy like this? Simply put, 40 yard dash. He is not going to fly to the ball. That will never stop him from making tackles. This guy is smart and he reads breaks and angles and gets to the ball. He is a perfect guy to play Special Teams while he is groomed to be an eventual starter. He could rise up draft boards with a good combine. If he does, take him sooner. You'll never regret a guy like this on your football team.
7th round. Shannon Tevaga, OG, UCLA, 6'3", 318. It seems like every year I want a backup QB in the draft or as an UDFA. If he drops this far I'd take a flyer on Colt Brennan from Hawaii. If for no other reason than someone named Colt should play for the Cowboys. This year is different though. After round 3, there's no one I particularly like enough to obsess about. In the absence of that go get a big O-lineman who started a lot of games. Tevaga fits that bill. This kid reminds me a bit of Derreck Kennard in that he is big and plays big and frustrates opponents because of it.
Have fun. Rip it apart. Better than before or going backwards? Opinions always welcome.

I know you love Schmidt, but I would rather draft another WR, CB or another RB that will fall like Hart, Slaton, Choice or as others have mentioned Forte. But if I get to the 4th round before I have something to say I think its a good effort. It's not because I don't like Schmidt, its that I don't think fullback is a impact position and it could be easily filled through FA if desired.

Hos do you really expect Cherilus to drop all the way to the end of the second round? I know he has great size and power, do you think he can be the next OL from BC to make an impact?
I really like Cason at 22 I got to watch him in a couple of games the last 2 years and have really enjoyed what he brings to the field, I think he has what it takes on the field and off the field to make an impact on this team. Owen Schmitt blocking for MB3....that would be a sight. :)

Owen Schmitt blocking for MB3....that would be a sight. :)Yeah, I questioned that at first (Cherilus going late 2nd). But I really only think there's one LT that'd I'd give a sure first round grade. There are about 3-4 that you could argue a late first round pick on, but I think Cherilus might be at the tail-end of that group and they all obviously won't go in the first, thus pushing a couple to the mid-to-late 2nd.
An OT I'd really look at is Chris Williams. He's a bit under-the-radar, but he rated very high under NFLDraftScout's blocking grades (just a few points behind Jake Long in both '06 and '07).

I don't like Cherilus in the first, but I'd gladly take him in the second.
I predict that they'll be a run of olinemen early in the second. Cherilus will be part of that group and the only way we draft him is through a trade down or up.

Agreed. Might have to choose between RB and OT with 1b or go OT in later rounds.
As for Chris Williams, I've read that he's a bit soft, and played as if intimidated at the SB after being slapped around by Red Bryant. Cherilus doesn't look as athletic but he appears stronger and meaner than Williams.
You really think will take a second LB instead of picking up another DB, WR, DT, or even TE (if the Parcell's philosophy persists)?

Although, I would like to get McKelvin for the first pick, I would not mind having Cason. The knock on him is that he might not be fast enough but makes play because he so smart at reading the qb. I would take that over speed. He does have enough speed to keep up with the most of Wr in the NFL. If runs well at the combine he might go higher. I like Felix with the other 1st round pick. Would love to get Roy Williams in trade in the 2nd. Do not think that we need a FB but would not mind Schmidt. Bowman and the UCLA guard would be steals in those rounds. I think that the guard would go much higher than the 7th round. All and all very solid draft. Would not mind that at all.

Owen Schmitt blocking for MB3....that would be a sight. :)I never say "he'll never be there." I used to. I first learned this when John Walsh was projected to be the 3rd player taken in some drafts but lasted all the way until the 7th round when the Bengals took him. Quite a drop from possibly #3 overall to 7th round. I got a cap that year with his autograph on it. Still have it. It isn't worth what I thought it was going to be.
I learned it again when we got Witten in the 3rd. I learned again when Stephen Jackson was there at 24. I learned yet again when Brady Quinn was there at 22 last year.
Right now, Cherilus is carrying a 2nd round grade. I suspect it will be more of a high 2nd round than a low 2nd round grade and I won't be shocked if he climbs into the 1st round. For now, I'm just slotting guys where the scouting reports say they are going.
The truth of the matter is there will only be 31 1st rounders, but if you look at the scouting reports about 50 players have a 1st round grade. Similar numbers for the 2nd round. That means guys will fall based on teams taking for needs.
All I am doing is projecting one guy to be there in the 2nd. I will probably move him again on my charts at some point.

Hopefully Bowman can hold onto the ball at the combine hes really going to need to be impressive. All the dropped passes in the practices and then once he finally caught one he fumbled.
Wasnt he also cheated the GW TD in the actual game, that eventually they got on the end around?
There are different options at WR that I like more, even before the senior bowl I have got to see a lot of Eddie Royal living in VA. I would prefer him over and Avery or Bowman, despite what their draft grades are.

Little different set up but same mind set as my latest.
Round 1(a): Reggie Smith, S-Oklahoma
Round 1(b): Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB-Tenn St
Round 2: Chris Johnson, RB-East Carolina
Round 3: Lavelle Hawkins, WR-California
Round 4: Justin King, CB-Penn State
Round 5: Chad Rinehart, OT-Northern Iowa
Round 6: Spencer Larsen, ILB-Arizona
Round 7: Ricky Santos, QB-New Hampshire
Yes I had Spencer Larsen in the 6th before reading yours. I have issues believing Dallas will take a RB in the first after all the money Jerry is about to dish out to Barber but I really wanted to put Felix Jones down. I also fought with Cherilus in Round 2 but had to go the RB route because I passed in round 1.

Little different set up but same mind set as my latest.
Round 1(a): Reggie Smith, S-Oklahoma
Round 1(b): Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB-Tenn St
Round 2: Chris Johnson, RB-East Carolina
Round 3: Lavelle Hawkins, WR-California
Round 4: Justin King, CB-Penn State
Round 5: Chad Rinehart, OT-Northern Iowa
Round 6: Spencer Larsen, ILB-Arizona
Round 7: Ricky Santos, QB-New Hampshire
Yes I had Spencer Larsen in the 6th before reading yours. I have issues believing Dallas will take a RB in the first after all the money Jerry is about to dish out to Barber but I really wanted to put Felix Jones down. I also fought with Cherilus in Round 2 but had to go the RB route because I passed in round 1.
I realize King didn't have a very good year performance-wise, but his physical ability's going to get him drafted in the first day.

I still think he is going to have more pedestrian numbers during work outs then people think causing him to fly just under the radar.
First day is only two rounds now and I don't think he has a chance of going in the second. ;)

man we will be like Boston College south.
I am curious hos do you not think marten, mcquistan and free can play?
I am all for bringing in o-line and d-line at anytime though, and if flo walks We will need another tackle so that would be a great pick.
I think some are forgetting how big marten is. He is almost as big as flo in person! His arms are very long. I think he is a guard in the future, but who knows.

I think he'll run in the 4.3s as people expect and if he actually measures in at 6', I think that'll land him somewhere in the first half of the 2nd rd. Do I think he deserves to go that high? Not really. But I predict that a handful of GMs will drool over those numbers.

The better your OL is the better chances you have to be scary good.
I'm kind of weird in that I am not loyal to players. If we can get better, I always want to do it.

I agree. And again, I am all for drafting lineman for both sides nearly every year.
I do think mcquistan, marten and free have futures here though. Marten is big and he just looked Ticked off all year during warmups and then standing on the sidelines. I know he struggled in camp last year, hopefully he will contribute next season and on.
again, you can never have enough good lineman.

My next Mock will probably ignore OL and go heavy on CB, WR, and RB.

I liked Hos 2.0, but love this one. Three talented DB's makes me drool. Then two of my favourite speed/skill guys in Johnson and Hawkins. Rinehart, Larsen and Santos to top it off!

You had me until the 7th round. Good stuff otherwise.

You're not the only one. I've seen him play, and he can play, it's just that his situation is too similar to Romo's. I seriously doubt we strike it lucky twice. I'm of the mind that we take a prototype guy with less experience, if we take QB at all. I'd rather we get someone that is at least bigger than I am.

I always like to see a team take a high risk/high reward type player late. Granted, your not taking much risk in the 7th round but I believe landing a high reward QB in the 7th pays off more then any other position if your lucky enough to have that player pan out.
