Is McCain too old to be President?

He is what 72 so that means he will be 76 when his term ends. I know Reagan was old when he became President but he was still younger than McCain.

I'm sure he is in decent health but being the leader of the free world ages you something fierce when you are in the Oval Office. If you are start out old, he might be using a walker by the time his term is up. Would he also be in a position to run again for a second term at 76?

I think he is.

I know that is discrimination and pretty crappy but he is running for an office where he will need to work 60 to 100 hours per week. He will need every bit of his mental faculties for an entire work week for four years.

Our last experience with an aged leader was with Reagen and there were reports he was often forgetful. These are reports from people who worshiped him in many ways.

My memory isn't the same now as when I was 25, I am scared of what it will be at 72, if I am fortunate enough to even last that long.

I do think McCain's age plays a role but you can bet Hillary will not hit him on that subject because her biggest firewall is the over 50 crowd. I fully expect Mitt to hit him there though.

I don't see McCain age as an issue. I guess it could say that having an extended life experience is a good thing not a bad.

Ultimately strong administrations are those that delegate wisely, if McCain assembles a strong team and does not micromanage he will have a respectable presidency.

Hmm should we drag out that latest media picture of Clinton snoozing to a MLK speech?

Sure, provided he runs for President again....

If anything his recent antics and obvious signs of age are legitimate reaosns to consider age an impairment.

Bill last held office 8 years ago so now he can pretty much nap all he wants.

Nap, chase intern, nap some more.

I don't know if I'd say he's "too old" -- but I certainly agree that he's old enough where his age is a serious concern.

If he's elected, I guarantee you his mental fitness will be called into question numerous times before his first term is up.

His age has to be taken into account.

He might be ok but it does have to be considered.

Unless he is going against Hillary.:D

He will need a good solid VP. Had to laugh at a joke from a lib in 1990 when asked if there was a real threat to Bush Sr. He said
NO WAY!!!! he dies and we get mr PotatoE head!!! Best life insurance Bush ever bought!

His choice as VP will be important. Although, if he takes after his mother, McCain will be going strong for awhile. But his age is a consideration.
