would any of you be upset if we went after 2 CBs in the first round?

I know that with only one 2nd, our chances of taking 2 CBs in the 1st is slim to none......however, if I were Jerry and we had the extra 2nd, I would try and shore up the secondary with 1st round talent........

In fact, the two guys I would go after would be DRC and Cason

Yes. I would be upset that we drafted a first rounder knowing to a certainty going in that he will not see the field in his first year.

I wouldn't be upset if we went CB-CB in the 1st round anyway.... so long as the guys taken were not reached for.

Since I think we need four cbs to keep three on the field, I would go with two cbs in the first. Especially with the bust rate for cbs and the belief that cbs are the one position that can keep us out of the superbowl, go for it.

He would see the field.

When we went to the dime defense.

Or when Henry gets inevitably hurt, he'd get plenty of playing time as the 3rd CB.

And the reality of it is, we should be a good team next year. Which means, we probably aren't going to get a lot of contribution from rookies anyway. The draft should be about trying to maximize future talent and develop them in areas of future need. And we'll need CB talent/depth pretty soon.

You need at least 3 CBs now. And Henry is probably done after next year. Newman + 2 1sts....

I would have no issue with Dallas taking 2 CB's in the first 2 rounds. Look at how the Eagles built their secondary in 2002 taking DB's with the first 3 picks in the draft. Round 1 and twice in round 2 obtaining Lito Shepard, Sheldon Brown and Michael Lewis. Can you imagine landing a combination of McKlevin, Cason, Rodgers-Cromartie, Jenkins or Porter?

No need to spend a 1st on that guy when, at best, he'll move up to "nickel" corner in the next 3-4 years. That's a total waste.

There is no guarantee we will resign Newman either.

It covers us in case we don't.

If we took two CBs in the 1st round, I could live with that, as long as we took either a WR or RB with our next pick after the two CBs.

If we had two 2nd round picks I wouldn't be opposed to the idea but even then I dont think we would see two in the first. Probably one in the first and one in the second.

Something like this would be perfect....of course I don't expect everyone to agree.

Round 1(a): Reggie Smith, S-Oklahoma
Round 1(b): Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB-Tenn St
Round 2: Chris Johnson, RB-East Carolina
Round 3: Lavelle Hawkins, WR-California
Round 4: Justin King, CB-Penn State
Round 5: Chad Rinehart, OT-Northern Iowa
Round 6: Spencer Larsen, ILB-Arizona
Round 7: Ricky Santos, QB-New Hampshire

Not bad. I'd have a couple of changes in there but not too shabby.

I'd be upset if we took 2 CBs in the first round. My preference is we draft the best CB or WR with our 22nd and our 28th pick on the other need. The Cowboys must have 3 viable CBs on this team who can play/start every week; we also must add a WR to complement TO or our passing attack will falter. I'd use our 2nd rounder on RB Chris Johnson and probably our 3rd on an ILB; I expect Burnett to beat out Ayodele this year and the new ILB can initially back up Burnett (probably keep Ayodele around this year yet but Ayodele is gone after this year) & Bradie James before he beats out one of them.

We also need get rid of the idea that our first rounders should start in their rookie season. We aren't the 5-11 Dallas Cowboys anymore and it will be much more rare for these guys to start right away.

I can't imagine any possibility that would lead us to do something like that. Knowing how much we A. paid Roy, B, will have to fork out for Hamlin, C will have to fork out for TNew there isn't any way Jerry will want to put that much $$$ into the secondary.

If we grab say a Mckelvin or Cromartie with our 1st pick and our late 1st there's let say a anyione Cason on the board I would definately consider it however the CB position is pretty stacked and we could still get a decent one in the 3rd or 4th rd.

Gee why don't we just take 3 cbs.

a nice Goodrich, Larrimore, Edwards style combo would be awesome!

Yes, the same disappointment felt over the past few years when we ignored the WR position early in the draft.

How many Felix Jones's are there in this draft?

I like the CB/RB combo with the 2 picks.

Of the CBs, I'd pick them in this order:

1. McKelvin
2. Aqib
3. DRC
4. Jenkins (most have him rated higher--like 1 or 2--but I don't care for the guy for a number of reasons)

I would have the RBs rated in this order:
1. DMC
2. JStew
3. Felix
4. Mendenhall (this is on the assumption MBIII is still here, if no MBIII, I put Felix behind Mendenhall because of the power grinder element).

Combined of those lists would look like:
1. DMAC
2. McKelvin
3. J. Stewart
4. Talib
5. DRC
6. Felix
7. Mendenhall
8. Jenkins

I wouldn't mind take the top person on that list of 8 for our 2 picks.

Or.... just throwing this out there...what about first three picks like this:

1a. DeSean Jackson WR
1b. Felix Jones RB
2. Antoine Cason CB

that would depend on who the cb's were. if cromartie and mckelvin were there i would do it in a heartbeat. but i would'nt take two cb's just to be taking two cb's. if starter quality prospects are there then yes.
otherwise i would prefer a top cb and felix jones.
i'm not all that impressed with any of the wr's in this draft, and i don't want to take a wr just to be taking a wr early in the draft.

The only one I'd look at in the first is Desean, and that is only because he brings an extremely unique skill set that you rarely see. I'm not convinced he will be a top WR, but I could see him being an extremely valuable roll player--the kind that you spend an extra 1st on if you have it.

But the rest of the WR crew doesn't seem that great to me. Limas Sweed is a big injury-prone meh. Malcom Kelly is somewhat interesting, but that is really only because of his side. I don't think he would be a 1st round prospect in other drafts.

As long as Dallas is not reaching for players and we are filling need areas then I'll be happy with the draft

i presume you mean in addition to the 2 firsts, then i would take

1a. OT
1b. CB
2a. RB
2b. WR or ILB (depending on value when we pick)

WR in FA
let flo walk (new OT and Free compete for LT spot)
resign Hamlin
Tender MBIII and canty
