Our defense is now ranked 25th out of 32 teams.

Looks like my bold prediction that they would not finish is the top 10 was not so bold after all.

I cannot remember watching such a pitiful performance from the Boys. This includes the 5-15 seasons that we had to undergo.

Has Parcells lost it folks ?

the defense is bad, no doubt.

but i can't help but wonder how we would be if we had hunter and woody back there the entire time.

no excuses though....we are lacking in defensive talent.

Did the extra 4 games include losses in the playoffs? he he.

Just joking. Had to poke fun at this situation. We HAVE to laugh ... otherwise, we'd cry.

doesnt mean he is wrong though...

Zimmer is as a big a problem now as Quincy was for the previous 3 yrs

its not JUST Zimmer though...the whole defensive staff is poor IMO, and has been for several years...if you dont have good teachers young players will never develop, no matter how talented they are

I guess you can lead a horse to the water, but you cant make him drink...

what will be everyone's defense for Zim-puss if they go out and spend alot of dough in free agency and/or use our high draft picks on defensive players, only to see the same crap we've seen for years? What then? This is his 5th yr as defensive coordinator, he's had one fluke yr, one average yr and a bunch of bad ones...

he is not a good defensive coordinator

well, i respect your opinion, but i do not agree. you guys make it sound like a new coordinator will just magically transform the team. my stance is that we have many more talent issues than coaching ones.

I understand your position more than you know.

Because that has been my position the last several years. That we have played beyong our capability...that lack of pressure and turnovers was due in large part to a lack in talent.

But at some point....you have to start to wonder.

yea, you're right. at some point, zimm will, and should be, held accountable if the defense does not improve.

i just think it's tough to put that on him with what he has out there right now.

he's trying to protect his secondary, and with no talent up front to win one on one battles in the pass rush, it's a struggle.

if he was blitzing and we were getting burned, they would say he's being too aggressive.

we're just not good on defense. we need better players.

if he is trying to protect the secondary, why do we still give up play after play to guys that are wide open?

no talent up front? what is Greg Ellis and LaRoi Glover?

I'd never chastise anyone for trying to be aggressive, but playing scared is stupid IMO...turn these guys lose and let them try to make plays...the results cant be any worse than yesterday's pathetic effort or last weeks failure against a rookie QB on your home field

ellis and glover are great. i wish we had one more of each!

well, at some point, too, you have to credit the teams we're playing. culpepper and favre are amazing, and B.R. escaped some sure sacks with some spectacular plays. they only have one loss, you know! besides, the d played pretty well against pitt, i thought. that loss was on offensive execution (or lack thereof) if you asked me.

i don't disagree though...since we're losing anyways...mine as well come after them some more.

let's see what happens...

I also would like to make another point regarding defensive personnel.

If it is a case of poor defensive personnel...then we have another problem altogether. And that problem would be in the assesment of defensive talent....both in Free Agency and the draft.

*Starting*
Dexter Coakley - 3rd round draft choice.
Tony Dixon - 2nd round draft choice
Greg Ellis - 8th overall pick
LA'Roi Glover - Free Agent - 5 year 22 million
Terance Newman - 5th overall pick
Dat Nguyen - 3rd round draft choice
Al Singleton - Free agent - 4 years, 8 million
Marcellus Wiley - Free Agency - 4 years, 16 Million
Roy Williams - 8th overall pick.

*Not Starting*
Bruce Thornton - 4th Round

*No longer on Team*
Ebenezer Ekuban - 20th overall pick
Derek Ross - 3rd Round

This is 9 of 11 starters.....and a wasted 1st and 3rd round pick. Also a seemingly wasted 4th round pick since we had to sign Tyrone Williams off of the street.

The only hope here is that the majority of these moves were made prior to Parcells era with the Cowboys.

yea, i think it's fair to say we have issues there. no doubt.
