Can it get any worse?
Can we beat the Bills, Dolphins?
Is Arizona better than us?

Yes it could get worse...sadly.
Injuries to any starters and trying to run a defense that we do not have the people for....so yes since we are not 31st in the league...it can get worse.

I'm glad we got pounded yesterday. I think it finally woke up the team. We suck. Plain and simple.
For weeks we kept on harping how if only this or that happened, or one less fumble or one extra 4th down conversion would have had us at 5-1.
NOPE!!! We're 2-4 for a reason. GB b*tch-slapped us. I hope this wakes up the team to realizing we're NOT very good. Maybe the coaches will game plan to cover up our weaknesses instead of thinking we're a real playoff team.

Well sure we can beat those teams you mention. Beating a half dozen or more of those type teams (really crappy offenses at the time we played them) is what got us our over-inflated D ranking last year to begin with. We sure didnt get it after having to play the likes of Minny, GB or any other high potent offenses. They likely would have spanked us last year just the same as they are this year.

True Dip...
Teams we played last year also knew carter couldn't pass, so they played very conservitively...

They were so conservative that they planned to throw incompletions the most of the time (and passed more often than normal), planned to score the second-fewest points in the league, planned to fail on third downs, planned to average only 3.5 yards per carry and planned to lose 10 times. They really fooled us.
Do you have a Time of Possesion stat this year versus after 6 games last year?
I feel a 5 to 6 minute swing adverse.

I do think there is some truth to the fact that teams played extremely conservative against us offensively because they knew our offense was going to struggle to score points and move the ball...teams knew we couldnt drive the ball 70-80 yds and played us accordingly...for all of the good defensive numbers we still ranked at the bottom of the league in ints, sacks and total turnovers...the defense had several poor games after Thanksgiving (Miami, Philly, Carolina)...it also cant be argued that the majority of teams we faced ranked at or near the bottom of the league in offense
I think there is no question that this years defense is proving last yr was a fluke

We ran the ball a lot more last year and had a lot of clock time. We are falling behind in games and giving up on the run. The D I bet is on field 5-6 minutes more per game.

Yeah, I'm sure teams came in saying, "Let's not exploit their weaknesses, or play to our strength, their offense can only score 14 points, so we our game planning for 17."

If you know your opponent cant score and cant move the ball consistently, how would said team beat you? With turnovers that creates a short field...why do you think Parcells was so insistent on offense to try and run the ball even with the mediore talent of Teoy Hambrick? because he knew the QB position for us was a problem and could give the opponents an advantage
Hey the defense had a good year last yr, but I think it was a combination of alot of factors, not mostly because of "brilliant" coaching by Mike Zimmer

Smart teams dictate the game. If I'm playing a weak offensive team, I want to get up early because that limits the chance of a fluke play beating me. Score early and force the weak link to beat you.
You are suggesting to grind it out against a team's strength, it's not logical. By that thinking if you play a great offense, you'd take shots, creating a shoot out. ;)

So when the defense plays for an entire season and ranks #1, Zimmer gets no credit, the other team does for playing us soft. Yet when we play only 6 games this year, all the blame is on Zimmer.
Not to mention the fact we cut our starting DT and his backup, lost Hunter and Woodson for the year so far, have Dixon starting (he isn't even backup material) and Newman isn't close to regaining last years form.
I'll go puke now............

I wrote a thread on this a few weeks back.
The #1 ranking last year was heavily weighted off of numbers from the beginning of last season. The Defense did not finish strong last year. This defense has been on a decline going back farther than just this season.
Also, I do blame Zimmers for a lack of pass rush and turnovers.

Zimmer has been defensive coordinator more than just the past 22 (or 23 counting playoff) games
his track record is what it is...mediocre
