Now that they're not the BEST TEAM EVER A.Specter can go back and do what congressman are supposed to do. Worry about problems of The Country, and leave sports alone.

I would rather they investigate football and baseball. The less the government does that actually matters, the better. History has shown they are pretty crappy when the worry about our problems.

Good point. Of course the problem is they will then mess up football and baseball the way they have messed up the government.

oh contrare monfrare. This opens the door for the NFL/Commish/Gov. to go for the kill on Belicheat. He's not the big story and the conquering hero, but just a losing cheat. Get ready for the heat to be turned up on Billy boy!

funny thing is that this whole fiasco with the Pats scandal is really just truly beginning my guess is it gets ugly now that the season is over and they lost

Maybe so, but Goodell now has been forced to talk to the guy in Hawaii. I can't wait to see how that goes and how he has to answer those questions.

This isn't going away. It may be a little bit of adding insult to injury, but they'll keep digging.
I wouldn't let Goodell get off the hook this easy.

First, he is a senator.
Second, the outcome of the super bowl doesn't change anything.

The Pats losing makes the matter more interesting since now they can say that Brady didn't look so good with the G-Men on full alert about them cheating.
And just because the Pats lost doesn't mean that they can't use their cheating ways to their advantage in 2008 and beyond.
I believe that Senators and Congressman are as busy as they want to be. If Specter wants to focus on the war, the economy and the NFL they can easily make time for it unless they don't care about one of those issues.

That's an incredible stretch of a legal interpretation.

I've been around enough attorneys and courts to know that a lawyer can find an argument for any lawsuit.
And, yes, it is quite laughable. But such is our litigious society. :laugh2:

really the commisioner is elected by the individual clubs and granted sweeping powers which is easily the act of a trust.
If Goodell destroyed the evidence in an effort to keep the public fom knowing the full corruption of their product which is the issue here then it is exactly what I say. The act in and of itself is slmillar to the acts of the tobacco industry in wcolluding to withold the harms of tobacco from the public.
Now obviously the actual damages from the tobacco industry were hugely greater however in spirit the acts would be the same.
