MANAGUA, Nicaragua -- The New England Patriots won the Super Bowl and ended the season with a perfect 19-0 record -- at least it looks that way in Nicaragua.

The NFL donated 290 Patriots hats and an equal number of team jerseys trumpeting the slogans "Super Bowl Champions, 19-0" to impoverished children from two small communities in southern Nicaragua.

Thursday's gifts could not change history -- the Patriots lost the Feb. 3 game to the New York Giants 17-14 - but they made a lot of youngsters in the communities of San Gregorio and Buena Vista very happy, said Miriam Diaz, spokeswoman for the humanitarian organization World Vision, which arranged the donation with the NFL.

"They (Patriots) lost, but the children won," Diaz said.

The only "football" most of the children know is soccer, but they were very enthusiastic about the U.S. version of the game once the rules were explained to them, she said.

"They were very happy to receive the hats and jerseys," Diaz said. "They said they did not expect such a surprise."

Neither did the Patriots. :laugh2:

:laugh2: Maybe Brady can take Gazelle down there for a vacation...I'm sure the children won't make fun of him for losing.

They are able to wear that hats because they signed a waiver stating that they would sing

"what could have been.... is better than.... what could never be..... AT ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL"

One of these articles comes out after every Superbowl, it's like some kind of competition to see which writer can hold out the longest before writing it.

In this case, it's just great because it's the Patriots, couldn't be happier.

In a perfect free market society, the impoverished kids put the jerseys up on Ebay and make enough money to eat for a month.

LOL, WG, on your last comment. :D

But true be told, that's where all the loser hats go ... "Overseas."

It would be interesting to visit some Third World country and see a town of people wearing the hats of the losing team whether the Pats or the Packers or the Chargers or any of the other losers in the NFC/AFC Championships Game and Super Bowls.

I know it helps clothing 3rd World kids, but it just sounds so cheap, giving them worthless Ts, but something is something and better than nothing at all

Perhaps not, but 9 months later they'd have a whole new baby boom on their hands... Brady has this way with knockin' up the ladies, you know...
