I know that quite a few folks were interested in Dallas bringing in Berrian. I just read that the Bears extended offers to him as well as Briggs:

http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2008/02/final_push_made_to_keep_briggs.html

"Along with dispatching right tackle Fred Miller, wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad and defensive tackle Darwin Walker, the Bears have made contract offers to linebacker Lance Briggs, wide receiver Bernard Berrian, defensive tackle Tommie Harris and special teamer Brendon Ayanbadejo."

He's a burner but drops way to many balls. If Crayton plays like he did in the playoffs and t.o does his usual 1 drop per td ratio then we would be doomed with berrian also

Not sure why Berrian would sign a contract with the Bears just days before free agency is supposed to start. Unless there's some sort of time constraint on the offer and he's desperate to play for a team that has no QB and has several games in awful weather, why not wait it out?

Berrian would be a solid pick up although i hope we can add a more big time receiver...

exactly. i am sure that the money offered by chicago will not be close to what he can get on the open market. i don't expect him to sign this contact offer.

i would love to have him in dallas. he doesn't have the hands that terry glenn has but he has the speed and that's what we desperately need right now.

I would too. Sure he doesn't have Terry Glenn's hands, but glenn has great hands. Berrian isn't the drop machine that everyone made him out to be last year. He's a good #2 receiver, with speed, which is what we need.

Dont forget we have a speed guy - Mile Austin , who can't hang onto many balls either . If he pans out we wouldn't need Berrian, but it is a big if!

I was also one of those who was wishing for Berrian or even better Larry Ftiz from Arizona. He is fast , good hands and young, but will be expensive.

That Donte Stallworth is not bad either .

Maybe he's not that smart, and then with his re-signing with Chicago, he just saved the Cowboys' season.

I'd rather trade for Roy Williams.

We can draft a speed guy if that is what we are looking for.

Tribune’s Vaughn McClure reports (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/printedition/cs-bearsbits27nov27,1,6076834.story): Bernard Berrian is starting to make the kind of big-time plays expected of a No. 1 receiver. Now he wants to be paid like one.
Berrian was asked by WMVP-AM 1000’s “Mac, Jurko and Harry” if he expects to be among the 10 highest-paid wide receivers.
“It depends. I mean, in a way, yeah, actually, yeah, I do,” he said. “I’ve still got to play and finish out the season. If I have any dropoff from what I’m doing now, then no. But if I still continue to play the way I’m playing and progress, then yes.”

Bernard Barrian wants to be one of the top 10 highest paid WR's???

Wow. Just wow.

Why are we talking about this Berriman guy when all of Jerra's actions should be expended on getting an A-LIST WR in Roy Williams.

Are you all mad? Talking about Berriman is defeatist. A Neville Chamberlains with a Cinderella, France surrendering -- again. Custer agitating Indians.

Berriman now has a tender from the Bears.
So, thank goodness, the focus can now get back to RW.

Roy Williams, WR, Detroit
Asante Samuel, 27, CB, Patriots
Corey Williams, 28, DT, Packers

Draft
1. CB
2. Safety
3. RB
4. OT

I was actually impressed with B Johnson from the Cardinals when he actually got a pass thrown his way. He has been overshadowed, for obvious reasons, with the other 2 star WR on the team. Former 1st round pick that might be a solid player.

Bernard Barrian has been in the league for 4 years and has nver had a 1,000 yard season, and his average yards per reception have steadily declined over the last 3 years. Those stats say Dallas should "PASS" on Bernard Barrian.

You have to look at the whole picture. Who has been throwing him the ball in Chicago? And who was their primary RB last season? Their offense has been brutal. I know because I watched a fair amount of Bears games here in the midwest. His hands aren't nearly as bad as people seem to want to suggest. He actually had a couple of highlight reel catches this year and has very good speed. Trades in the NFL are very difficult to complete so if we pass on Berrian and are unable to get a deal done for Roy Williams, Larry Fitzgerald or Chad Johnson we'll be screwed. And whatever WR we draft will not contribute much this season.

Quick question, who had more yards, catches, and a higher yards per catch last year, Roy Williams or Berrian? Who was in a more pass happy offense? Who had a more competent quarterback? And who seems to miss 2-3 games every year?
