1. glenn is out, morgan is hurt = we need to move to a more balanced attack. since this will involve running the ball...
2. we need to give george more carries, and lee should also see more action. we haven't seen many screen plays either - that may change as we go to more ball-control offense.
3. we didn't blitz minnesota and got burned. we didn't blitz favre and got burned. if you have a secondary that can't stay with receivers long, don't give them more help but put more pressure on the QBs. we will see more blitzes.
4. Quincy was a mobile QB and often managed to buy time, but was poor at making decisions on the move. henson is more mobile than VT and i think we need to take a look at him soon. i would not be surprised at all to see henson start following our next loss. i fully expected to see him come in against the packers which is the only reason i watched until the final gun.
5. consider that even if the season continues like this, we will be in great shape for next season. at this rate we may get the #5 and #10 picks which will be used to grab two stud defensive players - take your pick of CB, Safety, NT, DE. we will probably even trade one of our first rounders down for more picks. we need more talent period. we have lots of cap room too. the future is bright... but this season sucks!!! all we can hope for is that philly somehow loses in the playoffs despite having home field throughout...

Did you need see those awful screen attempts Sunday. The screen just has not worked, since Landry.
Henson is mobile?

The future really isn't too bright. But things turn on a dime in the NFL, so who knows? But for now, two #1 picks won't solve all our problems.
We still have question marks at QB, RB, DE, DT, and now WR. We can't solve them all in one draft.
We MUST go into 2005 knowing if Hensen can play or not. This carousel is getting old.

We should have did that while we still had Glenn as a viable weapon. With Ward and/or Williams running around out there, my guess is more teams will stack the box now.
2. we need to give george more carries, and lee should also see more action. we haven't seen many screen plays either - that may change as we go to more ball-control offense.
I'd like us to pick a back and use him, not keep subbing backs in and out. While George may not get better with more carries as he claims, all backs seem to run better when they get the ball consistently over the course of several series.
3. we didn't blitz minnesota and got burned. we didn't blitz favre and got burned. if you have a secondary that can't stay with receivers long, don't give them more help but put more pressure on the QBs. we will see more blitzes.
We're going to get burned either way - might as well die fighting.

The pass protection has actually been pretty good this year, except for picking up blitzes. And again, Vinny is not the problem.
I'm sure we'll see Henson before Thanksgiving, regardless.

I think we should use the top 5 pick (hopefully that's Buffalo's ;) ) and trade down ours for more picks. We need quantity more than impact quality.
Ideally I'd rather pick up an experienced CB and FS in FA than draft another one. I would make the D-line the focus of the draft, and grab a 2nd round WR. Hopefully we'll see enough of Julius (and like what we see) so we don't have to worry about RB.
Damn, I can't believe we're talking about the draft in Week 6 :(

Yes, Henson is mobile...very.

I agree... We used our last two recent top 10 picks on DB. This time I'd like to find a quality CB in FA and go into the draft looking elsewhere, at least with our two 1st rounders.
I also want to see what we have in Henson and Julius, because I don't want us to keep passing on QB's and RB's if we really need one. We've needed a QB since 2000 and we basically wasted 4 years due to reaching on QC and signing a baseball player (CH).
Henson may end up being the real deal, but if not, then most of the decade will have been wasted on former baseball players and reaches when we could've easily addressed the situation high in the draft.
The same thing can be said about RB too. But hopefully Julius will turn out to be the longterm answer. I hope he gets back soon so we can start finding out.

I don't agree.
That's exactly what we need...IMPACT PLAYERS and build the team around them.
I'm so fed up of getting so so players over quality.
I prefer 2 impact players over 4 or 5 average ones.
We need to get a real WR for years.
We need a strong DT or DE also for years to come.
I still don't know what we have with Henson and JJones.
And with the draft if the best player available is a QB or RB just get him.
It is a good thing that the Buffalo's choice look great for us next year but don't take that chance anymore, forget about getting more picks and just get the best player avalaible with both of our choices next year.
In FA we have enough money avalaible to get a good DE or DT, FS and LB.
We can get 4 starting players from next draft and FA, that would be a pretty good offseason.
We did let the train pass last offseason, I hope we won't do that again.

It's sad. We wanted 3 starting players in this years draft and wound up with none. Though two are due to injury. But it bothers me our 2nd round OT can't beat out an undrafted 2nd year player who played OG in college.

This is the most brilliant point posted this week!

At almost the same rank we did draft JJ last year, we will have already two first choices and a second in next draft.
I think it is a good chance to get at least 2 good ones.
I'm with you on the OT.
The hole right side of the Oline simply don't open any lane for our RB.
Often BP says he wouldn't mind playing Rogers but he prefer the other OTs because if something happen they can play other positions.
What would you prefer: the better OT or an average one who can play both positions?
Maybe Rogers is just not good enough.

This seems to be a major issue ... BP seems more concerned with "flexible" players than dominant ones. He'd rather have a so-so Barnes at FB who can also play ST instead of a bull dozer like (I fugget his name) at FB.
Same with the OL ... he'd rather carry so-so OL guys instead of an extra solid OG and OT.
The NFL is about specialization. We're not going to win too many games with Special Teams and "flexible" players. We need players who can dominate a single element of the game. We don't need any Jack of All Trades nonsense.

I agree. I would take a chance on a player who can dominate at a single element over any flexible player.
The hole offseason I felt like we can not hire that guy cause he is one dimensional player... WHO CARES... if the guy is the best avalaible at the position, just get him.
Some here would prefer a KR who can play another position at the same time.
If he is the best KR, I don't mind if he just bring water on the side line the rest of the game.
Just get Crayton returning kick instead of Ward who is suppose to be better at WR....Gees, he is simply bad at both position....
