wow; count me surprised; this means the cheapskate owner must pay through the nose and his player will be pissed off and next year, then what? I just don't see the advantage to this move. Note how infrequently Dallas has used the Franshise tag.

Just to be clear it isn't the owner who is cheap there - it is the VP of Football Operations Mike Reinfeldt whose genius idea this was.

Not shocked at all about this. I pretty much felt like this was going to happen.

He is? All he has to do is sign long term with them now and he'll get his money. No reason to be pissed. :)

The raiders franchised theirs and Seattle has done theirs; that leaves Samuels far and away the best CB in FA. He has GOT to be smiling now!

I wouldn't ever put the words cheap and Paul Allen together.

Allen could over ride if he wanted to. He chooses not to.

Exactly, these things seem to all play out the same. Either they get a deal done before the season starts or Trufant says he won't play unless they promise not to franchise him again.

It is not the best way to handle it but when you are going to have to pay Nate Clements money for a CB, you want to make sure you have time to get the deal done right. They will also have another contract to look at for comparison sake if Samuel is a FA and not franchised.

I am sure that 7 mill guaranteed has really got his panties in a wad. It's tough being an NFL star!

I was just thinking the same thing. He has to be seeing dollar signs in his sleep.
