I was wondring who here has broken bones, which ones, and how did it happen? I have a whole list.
I broke all 4 fingers on my left hand in a motorcyle wreck. Not the thumb.
I broke all but the pinky and thumb on my right hand in a fight. Guy had a really hard head.
I broke my nose 4 times. The first time was as a kid. There was a mulberry tree in our front yard and I used to run, jump, grab this branch and swing myself over the 3 foot high cinder block fence and land on the other side. I did it one time and the branch was wet and slippery and I went face first into the fence. The second time was just a couple of months later playing basketball, got an elbow in the face. The third time was playing football. I got tackled funny and my helmet shifted back into my face. I have a scar across the bridge of my nose where the face mask basically cut me. The 4th time was by a doctor who did it to straighten my nose back out and relieve some breathing problems. That may not count.
I broke 2 ribs on the right side in the same motorcycle wreck where I broke the 4 fingers on my left hand. I think the ribs are one of the worst bones to break because there's nothing they can really do for you. Everything hurts for weeks.
It's not a break really but I tore up my right knee. That's what ended football for me. The initial injury was damage to the cartlidge, tendons, and ligaments. But later on in life a piece of bone broke off the patela and was free floating in my knee. I had to have it removed. So that is kind of a broken bone.
Lastly, I broke the little toe on my right foot. That sucked. I stubbed it on the coffee table in the middle of the night and just broke it. I had to have a complete foot cast for the little toe. You can't believe how much that little toe contributes to your sense of balance.
Well, that's my laundry list of broken bones. What's yours?

I broken bone...My Nose. And I broke it with my very own knee going off a high dive at the pool when I was younger.
Never went to get it looked at and now I wish I did because I have a deviated septum and sinus problems.
However...I have had MANY stitches to the head if that is any consolation.:D

broke my little finger playing baseball in high school...
broke both bones in the lower part of my left leg....would like to say i did
it climbing the highest mountain in the world or bungee jumping from the
royal gorge bridge or racing motorcycles.....alas the true story is i was taking the garbage out ( that ice hidden under the fresh snow is sneaky).
separated my shoulder playing in an "old timers" football game for my high school, never got it taken care of, so that ended up being surgery 15 years later.

I got hit by a drag racing car just as it was taking off from the line and it broke my left humerous bone. The knob/ball at the top of the arm that goes into the shoulder broke completely off. I had to have a metal rod inserted from the top of my shoulder, through the bone knob, down through the center of the arm bone clear to my elbow. I had to have that in there 8 months.
As a matter of fact...in the video by NFL films about the Dallas Cowboys, there is a portion that shows when Charlie Waters broke the same bone in a game and Cliff Harris was close to him and said he heard it snap and break.
Not very fun at all.
But, the worse part of the whole deal was after everything got healed I had a hell of a time trying to "cold turkey" off the pain killers that I was on. I felt like a junkie for several weeks until it all finally wore off. Without those pain killers I would just sit in a recliner and shake and tremble...hooked on drugs!

Most fingers, no thumbs - football
Nose 3 times - some dudes fist after trying to help out a friend, one knee from my sister, and basketball game
2 Ribs - Easily the worst - wrestling WWE style..ha ha - went about 3 weeks without knowing what the heck was wrong - finally the wife made me go to the doc and find out. Sleeping was pretty much impossible
Right lower leg - basketball
Blew out right knee a year after the above - football

Nose-BIG FIST
Left Foot-?
right hand-hit the floor when q carter threw a td pass to i believe bryant (could be wrong) and still have not taken care of it. it is swollen and can sometimes feel the bone move when i move my hand certain ways
Broke my ankle when I landed on someone's foot while playing basketball. I broke my finger and thumb when they were severed in a door as a child (reattached). I've broken a couple of knuckles and fingers from punching things at various times during my ignorant youth.

Sprained an ankle after being hit by a car riding my bike when I was 10 years old. Fractured the other ankle and a wrist, both related to weight training in my 20's(too much weight and not enough warm up.) Bruised my ribs when I got mugged and robbed.
A girl broke my heart once, does that count? :D She was probably just returning the favor. :o:

i took those ace bandages and wrapped about 4 of them around my ribs super tight so there was pressure on them and slept sitting up. if i fell over during the night the pain was pretty much null and void since i put the pressure on them

I have broken one bone, three times (not sure a broken nose counts as a bone since it's not a "Bone", it's cartiledge).
First time:
Punched a wall, hit the stud. Just my luck. Yeah, I was an angry child (actually I was like 14 or 15).
Second time was about a month later. Was watching the movie "House" with my mother, reached over to a table on my right with my left hand (right hand is in a cast) to put down my glass of tea. All of the sudden my mother screams (scary part in the movie) and freaks me the hell out. I clenched my fists ready for whatever entity was attacking and broke the bone again (wasn't fully healed but close enough).
Third time, I got in a fight with some 20 year old (I was 15 or 16 at the time). I got him on the ground and instead of kicking him, I jumped on his back and started punching the back of his head. After the bone broke I started using my hand like a club (moron). Didn't even realize it was broken till about 10 minutes after the fight. I looked at my hand and saw a bone sticking out.
I've had my nose smashed a couple of times playing football (that's how you learn to strap on your chin strap good and tight). My nose is crooked now (one nostril is bigger than the other).
I've been pretty lucky when it comes to broken bones. *knock on wood*

I've had a few. Not sure if I can remember all of them.
First one I can remember was breaking my big toe on a diving board when I was eight years old. That one kinda started the ball rolling.
I started skateboarding when I was nine, and I had enough broken bones within the first two years for my parents to stop buying me boards...making a paper route a necessary evil. Broke my nose and knocked out three teeth on a launch ramp when my face came down on one end of my board while the other end had just touched the ground. That was fun.
I broke my radius, my ulna, and my jaw launching off the side of a halfpipe in Nova. Two weeks later I broke my right foot (a couple of metatarsals) jumping off of the same 10 foot ramp.
Cracked my shin skateboarding so many times that doctors think my shin bone looks like a serrated knife.
Took a board to the nose again when I was fifteen trying to learn stairsets.
Broke my left foot playing soccer the same year.
Broke a clavicle jumping my KX125 about six months after that.
I got a broken rib in a fight my senior year of high school.
Freshman year of college sucked. Broke three toes at an elite soccer camp right before I was supposed to go to my first college practices (had a big toenail torn off and a tweaked hamstring to boot). I took a shoulder to my chest at full speed (so was the other guy) during the third or fourth game which separated my sternum from half the ribs on my left side. Funny thing was, he was the one that got knocked down while I stood over him, but three minutes later I was on the sideline trying not to vomit. I quit playing organized soccer after that.
Skateboarding and snowboarding continued to mess me up though. I broke both wrists within a year of each other at a new university. My professors thought I was insane. The final blow to my legs came when I cased the bottom of a 55 foot tabletop jump and shattered my heel bone and blew my knee to ****.
Cracked my coccyx riding a YZ250 when I was 27.
I got my cheekbone smashed in by a cop with a mag-light during a fight in VB because I was defending myself and I didn't realize it was a policeman hitting me from behind. The black eye lasted ten months.
Broke my jaw again skating a drainage ditch when I was 28. I didn't realize it for two more days, but I had also chipped three vertebrae and torn a muscle between my shoulder blades. I think it's still torn.
I'm not fragile. Funny thing, I never broke anything playing football.

Sadly, I haven't learned my lesson's well enough. I still skate, snowboard, and ride dirtbikes whenever I can...and if I ever have children it's likely I'll still be doing it with them.
I forgot about my #3 knuckle on my right hand. That's been grenaded for about nine years too. :D
I just pray that the next bones I break are doing something other than riding my choppers.

No laughing here. Injuring your ribs sucks. Of all of the injuries I've had, separating my ribs from my sternum and snapping my achilles were the most painful...at least in regards to whether or not I would ever be able to deal with the trauma again.

Skull fracture at birth (forceps, we think)
broke right bird-flippin' finger playing tackle football w/o pads
broke a couple of ribs when I hit a metal building (sledding down a steep hill at the middle school, struck a stump that was covered up with snow, and careened into the football equipment storage shed)
broke my big toe chasing my dog (sock caught in the carpet and rolled my toes under, snapping my big toe)
deliberate: had my upper jaw not only broken but completely removed, excess bone shaved off, cut in half and widened (Type I LeFort segmented maxillary osteotomy) In addition, my chin bone was cut at a 45 degree angle, pulled up and reattached with titanium plates and screws (as was my jaw)

Broke my right index finger when trying to dig up a spike in volleyball and it hit it straight on
Not sure this is consider a bone break but I chipped part of the posterior process of the talus off garbing a long rebound by the 3point line and no one was even in breathing distance of me but i came down funny and a year later I ended up with surgery to remove it. (yes it caused big problems to my ankle)
Broke my pinky toes on my feet, I broke the left twice on corners of coffee tables and the such. Broke my right pinky toe rolling in Aikido are mats separated my toe got in the crack and went pop (That was like 2 years ago)

Broke pinkie playing basketball.
Broke right leg falling off the porch when I was like 1.
Was knocked out cold my freshman year of football for 60 seconds, had a concussion.
Sophomore year I broke my left leg and tore every ligament in my ankle playing football. Picture above is the crazy swelling, I could literally push the bone in and out, ha. I had a metal plate and 8 screws put in. Basically the same injury TO suffered. Broke my thumb catching during baseball, it didn't heal all season.
Junior year I tore my ACL and miniscus during football.
Senior year I broke my jaw and had it wired shut during football.

I have had a broken nose from a car accident..... thats it. Now, if u ask about surgeries, that would be a whole new story.
Me, too... ate the steering wheel of my 67 Camaro when I failed to make a turn in an ice storm, and wound up in a ditch... only had lap belts in that thing, so I went nose first into the steering wheel... opened up a big gash in my nose, and deviated the septum on my left side... I was only driving the Camaro because I'd just blown the engine in my Jeep Cherokee about a week earlier, and it was in the shop getting a new one... went from two nice vehicles to none in a week, I did... happily, I had the financial wherewithal back then to get them back on the road (and in the meantime, I bought a 69 Impala for 500 bucks that I had fun pushing through the lousy weather, not really caring if I wrecked it)...
I've also broken a bone in my foot, all of the fingers on both hands, most of them twice, two of them three times (playing basketball)... it seemed like I spent most of my college years with at least two fingers taped together... had both of my occipital orbits (the bone socket under the eyes) raised for me, at different times, so that I now have higher cheekbones than anybody else in my family... I also broke my right ankle in the exact same spot three different times, the last three times I stepped on a basketball court...
I've broken a coupla ribs at different times, again in basketball games... seems that most of the damage I did to myself over the years was in basketball games, though I did once separate my shoulder playing golf... and I have at different times broken the hamate bone in each wrist, though I couldn't tell you exactly how... I suspect it was during the course of a golf swing in each case...
And I broke my neck when I was 21, got clotheslined in a pickup football game on a punt return... didn't find out I'd broken the neck until 25 years later, when I went to the emergency room with muscle spasms in my neck, and they did a head and neck X-ray that revealed the fracture...
Mercy, the things we put ourselves through, in search of "fun"...

Nope... that was the worst of it. If I did manage to fall asleep, it only lasted until I moved even the slightest amount, which would cause the pain to wake me up instantly. Another bad part of having a broken rib is that eventually you have to sneeze... and cough... and go #2... all of which are very, very bad.

...but here goes.
I was 21 when this happened. I was a driver for Du Maurier on the Formula 3000 series when I got a chance to take a ride.
I was really 3rd string making my way up when the guy ahead of me was unable to go. We run our races well before the Formula 1 guys and most of us have dreams of being called up.
Coming on turn 8 after the straightaway the car I was driving was clipped and ended up in the wall and then the tires.
I broke toes, ankles, tibia, fibula, shoulder separation, wrist, jaw, mandible, forearm, etc. The tally was 29 bones and one ACL/MCL.
They cut my helmet off my head and air ambulanced me to the hospital. I felt nothing after the car hit the wall. Doctors said my body shut down to preserve my life.
I stayed in the hospital for three weeks with massive swelling in my brain and severe hydrocephalus (water build in the cranium).
Inside my body I have approximately 7 extra pounds of assorted titanium rods, screws, plates and hoops.
I am lucky to be alive.
That was about 20 years ago now and I just had my last surgery two years ago to repairs all of the cartilage in my nose from that accident. I finally can sleep through an entire night. For the last two decades I was waking up every 3 hours.
It's been a long haul. I don't watch racing anymore, I don't race anything - not even toboggans down a hill. I drive like an old granny usually under the speed limit.
When I think about it I'm happy to be typing this to you guys. That's why I keep bugging Hos to wear a helmet when he rides.
The guy who hit me felt terrible when he came to see me in the hospital. His family was exceedingly gracious and paid for my parents to fly to Toronto to see me in the hospital.
Both of our families stay in touch and we consider each other good friends. He doesn't race either anymore.

Shattered left wrist playing football circa 1984. I thought it was just out of joint somehow. So as I lay there on the ground, I layed my hand on the ground and whopped the hell out of the wrist with my right fist. I think I did more damage. My left wrist is still crooked, killed any guitar playing dreams I had. My whole left hand goes numb still when I drive.
Hairline nose fracture during a fight. I have a different perspective on graduation rings than probably most of you.
Got hit by a car whilst riding my bike...............Not a scratch.
Fell off 4th tier scaffolding while working construction with my dad....TWICE....Landed in mud both times. Nothing broken but pride.
