Moss inching away from Pats?

Randy Moss' patented touchdown celebration this year featured the receiver touching his wrists together, then spreading them out, signifying "separation", something some thought he couldn't get anymore in the passing game.
Could that now stand as a signal that he and the Patriots are moving apart? According to the NFL Network's Adam Schefter, Moss is growing "frustrated" with the pace of negotiations on a new deal in New England. Schefter writes ...
Moss is, at the very least, now willing to take free-agent visits and listen to other offers, according to sources. The contract the Patriots have proposed is not enough for Moss to sign now. The record-setting wide receiver believes he gave New England a discount last year and is unwilling to do the same this year.
The Cowboys would have to clear a lot of cap room to make Moss' arrival at Valley Ranch even a remote possibility. They have just $3.5 million to spend now. Still, there's probably not another player out there who would come close to what Moss could do in satisfying Jerry Jones' desire to add a "Wow factor" to his offense.

I'm torn on this one. Signing Randy Moss is an inherently High reward/high risk signing. If it works, we could challenge New England's all time points record. If things go south they could really go south.
If we do nothing, he could end up in Philly, ensuring the NFC East will again be the toughest division in football next year..
It 's a close call, but I'm leaning towards pulling the trigger on Moss right now if we can clear the cap space.

Im still wondering how much space we can get if Romo were to restructure his contract? And can this happen now?

I would absolutely love to get Moss.
Hell I still haven't gotten over us taking Ellis over Moss.
Come on Jerry...lets right that wrong. :D

I really have to laugh at all these Moss possibility posts.... reminds me of before the season started when we got teased with
"Pats to release Moss before the 2007 season"
The more I see these posts... the more I think he signs with Pats.

I'm wondering about that as well. Maybe some of our number crunchers here can fill us in on that.

If he does, fine, no sweat.
I am really not enamored with the possibility of him in Philly, though.

Just sign with any team not named the Cowboys, Patriots, Giants, Eagles, or Redskins and i'll be happy.

The really interesting thing about that blog entry was someone finally explained what Moss was doing touching his wrists together and slowly seperating his hands. I finally get it! :D
Gotta say that was one of the dumbest end zone celebrations I've ever seen.

They've been doing that crap all year. Even that midget, Welker did it against us.

Is Adam Schefter not starting to piss anyone else off besides me?
This guy can turn ANYTHING into a story.

What I don't understand is why so many of you believe Jerry has the option to get Moss to Dallas. Where is the cap space going to come from? Even if Romo's contract is restructured we'd only get about $5M more to spend. When you add that to the only $3.5M we have so far it only comes to $8.5M which would be needed to re-sign Barber, TO, or Hamlin & our draft pool. Now if some of you want to remove the tender to both Barber & Canty and also remove the franchise tag from Hamlin, then say so cause that's probably the only way it happens. In order words we sign Moss and we in cap hell. If we win the SB, Jerry won't care. If TO & Moss can't survive together and hurt the team with their pettiness & drive Romo crazy, then we take a gigantic step backwards.

Of course we can and we did but I would still luv to have him team up with TO and Witten. Plus, it would be exciting to watch.

If we have so very little cap space, why does the media keep floating these rumors? There are more than 30 teams in the league, yet the media spreads rumors about Moss going to a team with no cap room? Do they think people are stupid? :banghead:

Can you imagine how many angles they can work stories?
I personally still want a deal with Detroit for Roy Williams. Ayodele and our 2nd for him. But even I know nothing would be bigger than Moss to Dallas.

If Schefter is talking about it you better believe there's something to it. We're probably trying to clear space as I type. Moss on one side and TO on the other?.... GAME OVER

It's "risky" moves like this that separate the champs from the playoff losers. And Jerry is a risk-taker. I'd be THRILLED to land Moss.

If Eagles are seriously trying to pick up fitz we are going to need moss. I mean Romo avg 1 INT and im not complaining because his upside is worth it but with Asante on the eagles and possibly Hall on Giants we are going to need a home run threat to keep them honest.

Whoa...I could!
Because of the spanish speaking community in Dallas, somebody said, "No mas...no mas"!

No comparing the WR core to what Pats had last year... but TO and Moss would not be lights out.... the Pats were lights out for 2/3 of season and then it slowly came to an end.

The Pats didnt have two play making receivers, they had one in Moss. Stallworth got taken from the staring line-up later in the season for a reason and it doesnt say much when you're getting replaced by Jabar Gaffney.

Moss, Welker and Stallworth were great, but Moss, Owens and Witten is better. In the later part of the season teams just started doubling Moss and Stallworth didn't make any plays so it worked....if they doubled Moss here they would be leaving the original 81 in single coverage or vice versa - I'll take those chances.

I hear ya guys... but every offense is scheme-able.... and it only takes one good scheme in the playoffs/SB to crush those unstoppable dreams.

It all starts up front. A well coached strong offensive line is a scheme beater. Bring in Moss, watch Tony cream in his pants, and enjoy what Houck does with our line this year. ;)
We said we wanted someone to take TG's place. Well... Mr. Field Stretcher is just a cap room creation away.

True, BUT.....there's no defense with enough talent to exercise a scheme to stop that type of offense. The key in the SB was the O-line was overrated and what we saw in the Colts, Ravens, and Chargers game was a preview of what was to come. There's nothing overrated about our offense. The run blocking is meh and everyone so now and then we'll look weak, but everything else is straight.
