No.

I've got it from inside "sources" that his foot's asleep.

I think Parcells said today Jones is 3 weeks away from practicing...and probably slightly longer from playing. Now I'm guessing 5 weeks form playing...but who knows, we'll see.

Yep, Parcells said that he is 3 weeks away from even trying to play football. Someone asked, "is that practicing, or playing?" Parcells said "practiscng."

So there ya go, looks like another 5-6 weeks for Jones.

it'd be bitterweet if julius comes back when cowboys have been eliminated from the playoffs - and promptly starts tearing it up.

If JJ isnt back by the end of the season, we need to draft another RB. not that i'm counting him out, but we cant place our entire running game onto a young guys shoulders, who IMO isnt big or tough enough to last an entire season anyways. Could be in the 2nd or 4th or 1st whatever, we can't just always say "next year" every single time. Without a servicable RB or two our O is gonna go down the drain. We cant put all of our hope onto 1 guy, who hasnt proven anything without some kind of backup, and I really doubt George will be back next year.

chalk up j. jones' injury to bad luck. emmitt smith suffered a similar injury last season - and HE is certainly big and tough enough. there is nothing wrong with drafting more depth at RB. but there is definitely something wrong with using another high pick there. dallas has three young RBs that haven't seen the field enough for us to even have an inkling of what's already in place here.

Jones, Lee and who?

I disagree. I think we need a franchise type back and the only way to get one of the those is to draft him high or trade for one. Jones and Lee don't appear franchise types based of what we've seen so far (college & pre-season games).

I know that Curtis Martin, Terrell Davis and Priest Holmes were not high draft picks, however the vast majority of all-pro RB's were drafted early.

They are also some guys who are going to become available sooner than later:

Michael Bennett - who has lost his starting job to M Moore or O Smith - take your pick

Travis Henry - who will lose his starting job by the end of the year.

I know Bennett is under contract through next year so that would take a trade but what about Henry?

Lamont Jordan also is coming available. It has been proven you can find a guy in round 2 - I would not use 1 of my first unless it was the next LT.

Are Benson or Williams that good. I don't get to watch that much college so you guys tell me - Are they worth a top 5 pick?

assuming J Jones injury was a streak of bad luck.
He is around the same size as Emmitt Smith but can we really compare this guy to Emmitt Smith?? can anyone compare to Emmitt? soo unlikely. Emmitt was a top 5 pick who fell a lot because of his size. Emmitt is the leader rusher of all time. Please don't compare a 2nd-3rd round talent to the greatest RB of all time.

so assuming he does have herculean heart/durability of Smith, does he have anywhere near close the moves of Emmitt? he has a burst of speed, hes got a little bit of jukes, but does he have hte incredibly leg power of emmitt either?

anyways even if he stays injury free the next 5 years, is he really the kind of back who can lead us to the superbowl? this is the cowboys, not the bengals, we arent using to have decent RB's, everytime our team has been great, its also had a GREAT RB. I just dont see Jones as the kind of guy who will get 300 carries or 1500 yards regardless of injuries or not. I also feel the guy is a bit injury prone, even IF this was just a badluck one time thing.

Have you already forgot about the greatness that is Erik Biekerstaff?

I feel the exact same way.

I never liked the pick to begain with anyway.

Hopefully we pickup another CB and QB/RB with our two firsts next year and maybe another bust at DT/DE in the 2nd.

Franchise backs are drafted outside the first round all the time.

No that's YOUR myopic opinion of my posts.

If you'd paid attention I'm a realest and a big fan of the cowboys, it's just that I'm overly critical of obvious upper management mistakes.

I'm also overly critical of fans that can't seem to see the most blatant of miscues on and off the field.

So in fact it's not really me, as the person with the problems, it’s the posters with a total lack of insight and the posters with the self appointed skewed football knowledge, that in fact are way, way off base.

I just critique common, but misinterpreted facts!

Enjoy. :D
