Ok..
Haven't heard this mentioned yet as far as I can tell, but I'm going to throw up an obvious question.
Since we are having all these problems scoring in the Red Zone, running to move the chains and controlling the TOP..
Is it time to remove the responsibility of the guy calling the plays and hand the job off to the next guy..?
Is it time to take the headset away from BP and the clipboard and let Sean Payton or Maurice Carthon takeover the game plan and execute it..?
I'm serious. I've been thinking about this since last season. I felt our offense was very predictable and well scouted in the second half of last season and it's certainly being defensed too well this year.
Is it just that BP has been out-schemed because he's not that good of a playcaller..? Could it be he isn't in touch with what needs to be done..? He's not in touch with his players and their abilities as he thinks he is..?
We certainly have had evidence all season he's calling a poor game at crucial times this season that has cost us games, even in his own words.
So, why not let Sean Payton just handlle it and BP step back and be headcoach and not head offensive man..?
Or Mo Carthon..? We just rolled over Payton's contract and Carthon's too, I believe. And I'm sure they have tremendous input in preparing the game plan, suggesting plays during games, etc.
But maybe we need a change of pace in the coach calling them. It's my understanding that BP is the guy calling the plays or approving the plays or whatever.
If I'm mistaken here, then somebody here on the forum who knows how the playcalling goes and who is responsible can shed some light, please.
Who is responsible..IF Payton is more responsible, then maybe it needs to be BP more. Or Carthon more.
Maybe what's going on is that the offense is being run much like our running attack is.. being run..BY COMMITTEE .
And unfortunately, we know where the running attack is. Maybe this concept extends to the play calling, too. Too many chiefs and not enough indians so to speak. I'm not sure how it works.
I've never heard BP clearly state how it works.
Maybe it's time to open up the question and ask him. If it's BP more or less, maybe he needs to delegate for authority to the other two guys..or..maybe they to him.
Whatever.
But it seems to me, around the league, when offenses struggle, there is usually some changes in the guys calling the plays or preparing the Sunday gameplan to shake things up.
Why hasn't this been suggested here or in the media..? BP is my man, but sometimes, you get in a rut and you need help. Maybe somebody else who hasn't had sufficient input into the plays being called needs to be inserted.
What do you guys think..?
While everybody searches for answers with the problems and we are examining what the answers could be, maybe it's not as much a player problem as much as it's a playcalling problem.
Does this make sense..?
It does to me.
later.
