I finally broke down and got an XBOX 360. Just picked up Tiger Woods and Mass Effect at the game store.
Does anyone have reccomendations on games? I generally play stuff that doesn't give me motion sickness so FPS are mostly a no go.
My gamer tag is LittleBigHurt (same as my AOL screen name) if anyone wants to add me to their friends list.

Assassin's Creed was good. Basically it's Splinter Cell in the Middle Ages.

Depends on what kind of games you like.
I for one thought Assassin's Creed was incredibly repetitive and boring. It was pretty though.
You might try Devil May Cry 4 if you didn't already play it if you have a PS3. It's a good 15-20 hrs. and pretty fun.
I'd say give Gears of War a shot, since it's not really a FPS (which I hate) but it's probably still a bit too much motion.
If you like RPGs then Lost Odyssey is good, at least what I've played so far (2 of 4 discs). Eternal Sonata also got good reviews though after 10 hrs I have found it to be pretty slow going. I still haven't played Blue Dragon.
Of course there is Rock Band as well.
Honestly, I stick to renting 95% of the time these days. There's just aren't many games that I would play anymore once I've finished them. There just isn't that long term value. And there's just way way too many FPS.

If you like music, and who doesn't??, you'll play this game for hours and hours. I've had it for 3-4 months, and I never tire of playing... except for when I literally feel like my leg is going to fall off with all the double bass hits.Honestly, I stick to renting 95% of the time these days. There's just aren't many games that I would play anymore once I've finished them. There just isn't that long term value. But as far as FPS go, COD4 is the gold standard.

Damn, before you said you get motion sickness I was going to say get BioShock and The Orange Box. Those two along with COD4 and Mass Effect were the best 360 games of 07.
If you like 3rd person games you should check out Army Of Two. I'm really enjoying it so far...Also buying Rez HD on XBLA is a must!

Are you mad that he didn't make a thread titled "New PS3 Owner"? Sony fanboys always make me laugh. They always bring up the RROD for no reason whatsoever and think they're dropping knowledge on people. Oh my God, you mean to tell me 360's red ring?! I'm the same way with FPS games. Most of them really make me nauceous. If you're into computer games though, try planetside. It's an awesome MMO FPS but it never gets me sick. Been playing a lot of that lately and it kicks arse.

I own a 360 and can readily admit that, as a piece of hardware, it is a piece of crap. There is nothing wrong with stating the truth. Myself and every single friend of mine that has a 360 has had at least one serious problem with it. If you find that acceptable, so be it. But there is really no denying that the PS3 is a FAR superior piece of hardware, and with the Blu-Ray player, a better value as well.
Now, the 360 does have a better game library at this point, for sure, and that is the most important thing. But right now, 2008 is looking like a better year for the PS3 as far as games are concerned.

This thread was not about which system has the "FAR superior piece of hardware". The guy was asking what games to buy for his 360 and then out of spite, locked&loaded brought up the typical fanboy rebel scream "RROD!".
I own both systems and love me some Blu-Ray movies...but also love watching HD movies on the Live Market Place. I wouldn't jump to conclusions and think just because Sony has the built in player that M$ is screwed on that front. M$ main focus has always been digital distribution of HD movies. There is a reason why they didn't put the HD-DVD drive into the 360. Funny thing, if they had done that from the beginning HD-DVD would still be in the fight and might have been winning.
Also, you brought up the other favorite saying of Sony fanboys around the world..."2008 year of the Sony!". It's as if they somehow have gotten a hold of a crystal ball or something. There is still many, many games we don't know of for 2008. You may think the PS3 lineup is great but others could say "meh" to it. You have no idea if any of those games are actually going to be any good when they come out (I'm looking at you Lair).
Me personally? I'm looking forward to Little Big Planet and the new Metal Gear but I also can't wait for Fable 2, GTA4, Alan Wake and Gears Of War 2 for my 360.

I just got a 360 a little over a month ago.
I bought NBA 2k8, Lost Odyssey and Call of Duty 4.
I put a good 30 hours into LO and I'm about an hour or 2 away from beating it. If you ever played any of the Final Fantasy games you will love this. Its virtually the same thing from the battle systems to the maps and so on. I actually like this better than the past FF, 12 I believe it was.
Call of Duty 4 is amazing... the 2nd best online shooter I have played (next to Starsiege Tribes for PC, if anyone remembers that game). But since you ruled out shooters than forget it :P This game can be very fast paced with lots of movement.. unless you wanna "camp" or snipe. Anyway,
NBA2k8 IMO is the basketball game to get between this and Live.
EDIT: BTW, for those "Red Circles of Death" I have never encountered anything of the sort. My xbox has froze one time, and one time only. No red circles though.
Grand Theft Auto 4 comes out late April (28th I think). I have my copy paid for already.

Red Ring of Failure
Is your Xbox 360 still working? You must be one of the lucky ones.
By Mike Smith
Over 18 million Xbox 360s have sold through since the console's launch in November 2005, but just how many of those are still working? Squaretrade, a company that specializes in providing warranty support to purchasers of electronic goods from various manufacturers, claims 16% of Xbox 360s experience a hardware failure within six to ten months after a warranty purchase. Three out of every five failures were for the infamous "Red Ring of Death" general hardware failure error, a problem often linked to overheating.
The Xbox's figures compare poorly to competing consoles, which have a failure rate of around 3% -- and if anything, the Squaretrade figure underestimates the scale of the Xbox 360's reliability issues. It's a good bet that some buyers of Squaretrade warranties went straight to Microsoft after experiencing hardware issues and don't factor into the 16% number. On its company blog, Squaretrade pointed out that failure rates are "certain to go up" as the machines in their study group grow older.
Microsoft is cagey about coughing up official failure rate figures, which has lead some commentators to speculate about the actual severity of the problem. Luke Plunkett, a blogger on respected games news site Kotaku, said in a recent post that if the real failure rate wasn't in the 30-40% range, he'd "wolf down humble pie until his sides split."
Plunkett's sides are likely safe. Stories of 360 owners making their way through eight or nine consoles aren't hard to find, but to its credit, Microsoft has been working with the affected individual in at least one of those cases to lessen the impact of the constant failures.
16 Percent of Xbox 360s Are Likely to Break, Report Claims
Even so, there's a surprise lurking for consumers who return their 360s for repair. When you purchase content -- arcade games, extra tracks, etc. -- over Xbox Live, it's playable by any user on the console you used to make the transaction. If you go to a different console and sign in with your gamertag, you can download the content and play it only for as long as you're signed in. Once you move back to your main machine, it will no longer be playable. Sounds like a handy system to let you take the content you own from place to place, right?
But the trick with this system is that once a broken machine returns from its little vacation, it generally has sufficient internal changes to make it look, to Xbox Live, like a different console. So all your downloaded content -- which, if you're a heavy user, could amount to hundreds of dollars worth of purchases -- are only accessible to one gamertag, and only when the console has a live internet connection.
Getting this situation resolved can be difficult. Affected users have reported having to make repeated calls to the Xbox support line, often to no avail. Some fortunate individuals were able to eventually convince the MS reps to refund all the points they'd spent so they could repurchase all the affected content, although they had to do it using a different gamertag.

Man, is it ever a Final Fantasy clone. I know a lot of the guys who made it used to work on Final Fantasy, but they completely ripped off the music from FF7. I mean there are pieces that are barely altered themes from FF7. I heard Sephiroth's theme in there. The end of battle music is virtually identical, as are several others. One of the few that sound different from FF (the theme when you're in Ghotza) actually sounds like the song from The Lost Boys. It's a good thing I love Final Fantasy though so I don't mind if it rips it off. I like it better than FF12 as well, though I loved the battle system, the story was just kind of sprinkled in here and there which sucked. Lost Odyssey is pretty magic user heavy compared to most games.

Home is decent, just there is hardly anyone in it. It has taken giant steps forward though scenery wise. Everyonce and a while i will go into the arcade and bowl or play pool. IT has potential but games like Little Big planet, Killzone 2, MGS 4, 8 days, espionage, Haze, Socom, Wardevil, Gran turismo etc excite me alot more.

if k.z.2 tightens the controls you guys will have a very nice fps on your hands but if they dont its just gonna be another one to throw in to the heap piles. LBP has potential but a bit weiry for me. mgs4 should be good but if its anything like MGS3 i will shoot the game. 8 days seems like a GTA/SR rip off (which are starting to get boring). dunno anything about espionage or haze. Socom will rock. War devil looks like a God of War rip. Good Car games such as GT and FM are always good.

I got the new Vegas today...
after playing Call of Duty 4 so much its hard to appreciate Vegas I guess.
The game is way too slow and the graphics aren't half those of COD.
The co-op is fun in the story mode but the deathmatch aspect isn't too great.

the main diff between the two is one is more of a run n gun while one is tactical. untell you put cod4 on veterans then they are both tactical. From what i read the t.d.m. is only a limited amount of respawn which goes back to the tactical aspect but there are multiplayer modes were the are unlimited respawns

I only play Hardcore Team Deathmatch for Call of Duty 4 which is pretty tactical... Sure its unlimited respawns but there are zero HUDs minus an occasional UAV.
