. Cornerback. The Cowboys are pleased with Anthony Henry (http://javascript%3cb%3e%3c/b%3E:fantasyPopup%28%27nfl%27,%205545%29) and Terence Newman (http://javascript%3cb%3e%3c/b%3E:fantasyPopup%28%27nfl%27,%206341%29), but with so many NFL teams using three-, four- and five-man receiver formations, they must upgrade their nickel and dime cornerbacks. It looks to be a down year for this position, so Dallas might prefer to make this a lower priority. Indiana's Tracy Porter, Tennessee State's Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Colorado's Terrence Wheatley are all players who might fit into the Cowboys' plans and could be available after the first round.

I was listening to Moving the Chains with Pat Kerwin and Tim Ryan today and they said that Cromartie is a boom or bust guy and they wouldn't take him until he slipped into the late teens or early twenty's.
Not my opinion but theirs. If that's the case, he could slide farther.

The Sporting News guide had alot of not so flattering stuff on DRC
He is making a HUGE step up in competition from where he is now, and from what they said he was really up and down against that low level of talent
he may take a yr or two to develop into a solid contributor

I think both Cromartie and McKelvin could use a year of 'seasoning' at the NFL level rather than being thrust into a starting role.
The nice thing is that the Cowboys have that option.
If they drafted either one, they could use them as their 3rd cornerback in '08 and decide if they're ready to start in '09.

Agreed. That is what would make getting a guy like DRC a very good deal for us cause he wouldn't need to start, baring any injuries in the preseason, right away.
