He wasn't meant for any team. I'm just experimenting with him. Going to see what high strength can do for a possession WR in terms of blocking (on special teams) and breaking tackles against CBs.

If you want an idea of how you'd try to use him:
Skill points are going to speed, agility, catching, vision, stamina, and specials.
Training strength every other day and confidence, jumping, blocking, and carrying on the inbetween days. Equipment is going to speed

Ethan Gustafson wants to be a TE and SS in the scrimmage against Fresco. There's no energy lost, no morale changes, nothing. I want to see my guy get a catch, then fumble the ball. :D I'd also like to get burned in coverage.

Sorry, I would like to try with an all out passing attack against a good defense. I want to see what our offense is capable of throwing the ball before going into next season.
We need all OL to favor pass blocking.

Maybe I'l put him in as fourth TE.

Thank you. Hope the Zone Defenders turn it around next season.

is the 3-4 thing still gonna happen? We have a good DL for that as is, otherwise we'll need a DE or Two.

Need one or two more corners and a safety for depth and ST.

I'll make a ST CB if no one else does.
We need a backup G, 1-2 DE, a CB depending on Catcher Freeman and a SS.
Maybe we should advertise for new owners in the main forum here on cowboyszone?

New owners would always be good.

If the 3-4 is an option(and thats what we want to do), we ought to add a LB vs a DE.

I am hopeful they get the 3-4 turned on.

I rolled my first player as Lawrence Taylor just to terrorize the Skins QBs....

New players can be created and sent to the D-League and they come along fairly quickly. The more active owners could toss a guy or two int he DLeague and let us know about him so we can build a farm team so to speak. I have a farm league punter building now.

It would be nice to have at least 1 of every position in the DLeague.

I'll buy another team if they open them back up and I can catch one so we can truly have a farm team. Prolly call it Dallas Farmboys or some such. Could use it for both Zone teams as the farm league team.

I believe there is a one team limit now...

plus there is a waiting list.

It goes by creation date, so whoever adds there name to the list, shouldn't too far from the top.

I'll think about it adding my name, but not sure yet.

If you're a WR, DE, OT or HB come on over.

Un fortunately I'm pretty sure you're a corner, which is one of the only positions we're pretty stacked in.

Come on over anyway. :)

I made some upgrades to our stadium. We need only one more corner to complete the lower level. Can we get a loan?

In other news Tony D and Sticky Fingas have signed new contracts, so all of our roster will return for next year. We have only a few contracts that end in season 3. I will renegotiate them after the start of season three. There are now mandatory signing bonuses depending on the level of the player.

Some infos about the offseason.

:

Q&A about offseason #2, which will basically be the same as offseason #1.

Q: When is the last day to boost for season 2?
A: You can boost all the way up until the last day of offseason.

Q: When is the last day to add construction or get a loan for season 2?
A: You can do both all the way up until the last day of offseason.

Q: When does offseason start?
A: Tomorrow, day 41. People still have games today!

Q: When will you add the new teams?
A: Soon...soon. It really doesn't matter the exact time any more because they will all get assigned at daily rollover. No need to stay up late!

Q: How long will the offseason be?
A: We don't know yet. At least 3 days, probably closer to 5. We need to roll out the new teams, give you some time to recruit and make moves, deal with all of you who requested to swap leagues, install some servers, and try to fit in some last minute updates.

Q: When will my league swap happen?
A: Various times through the offseason, as I get to them.

Q: When does the new chemistry change happen?
A: Tonight's rollover will be the first time we use the new formula refill method. Offseason moves will cost 1, as well.

Q: Why do we need an off season at all? I want to play NOW!!!!
A: We need time to upload new changes and give all the team owners some time to make their off season moves.

Q: Is there training (XP) or salaries paid tonight?
A: Nope, day 41 starts the offseason, and no training or salaries are paid out during offseason.

If they are fine as depth guys that is great.

We do not want to get too much depth however.
I think we'll be in the best shape if we can get a developmental team going and use it as a farm system for guys that get bored or want to leave.

We can only afford so many players:) and we do not want to have too many players in single digits taking snaps against teams with guys at level 18+ for the mismatches it will create.

afaik...
if you play more man(or tight coverage) than zone go agility over vision but if it is more zone(or lose coverage) then go vision over agility.

agility helps with direction changes, vision with awareness.

Every time your player gets 1000 XP, he levels. In addition to providing 5 skill points for you to distribute as you see fit, your player also improves skills important to his position. 2 points are divided amongst the "major" skills for the position while 1 point is spread over the "minor" skills for the position.

In addition to helping plan how you want to train, this may inform how to "build" effective players at each position.

Offense:

QB
Major: Strength, Throwing, Vision, Confidence, Stamina
Minor: Agility, Jumping, Carrying, Speed, Catching

HB
Major: Agility, Speed, Strength, Vision, Confidence, Carrying
Minor: Catching, Blocking, Jumping, Throwing, Stamina

FB
Major: Strength, Blocking, Agility, Carrying
Minor: Confidence, Vision, Catching, Tackling, Stamina

C
Major: Strength, Blocking
Minor: Confidence, Agility, Vision, Tackling, Stamina

G
Major: Strength, Blocking, Confidence
Minor: Agility, Vision, Tackling, Stamina

OT (*oddly, minor OT skills improve by 0.5 but majors only improve by 0.4 due to how many there are of each)
Major: Strength, Blocking, Confidence, Agility, Vision
Minor: Tackling, Stamina

TE
Major: Strength, Blocking, Catching, Vision
Minor: Agility, Speed, Confidence, Carrying, Stamina, Tackling

WR (*oddly, minor WR skills improve by 0.5 but majors only improve by 0.33 due to how many there are of each)
Major: Speed, Agility, Catching, Jumping, Vision, Stamina
Minor: Confidence, Carrying

Defense:

DT
Major: Strength, Tackling, Agility
Minor: Blocking, Confidence, Vision, Speed, Stamina

DE
Major: Strength, Tackling, Agility, Speed
Minor: Blocking, Confidence, Vision, Jumping, Stamina

LB
Major: Strength, Vision, Tackling, Agility, Confidence, Stamina
Minor: Speed, Jumping, Blocking, Catching

CB
Major: Speed, Agility, Jumping, Vision, Catching, Stamina
Minor: Strength, Tackling, Confidence, Carrying

SS
Major: Strength, Speed, Vision, Tackling, Stamina
Minor: Agility, Jumping, Confidence, Blocking, Catching, Carrying

FS
Major: Speed, Vision, Tackling, Catching, Stamina
Minor: Agility, Jumping, Strength, Confidence, Blocking, Carrying

Specialists:

K
Major: Kicking, Confidence
Minor: Strength, Vision, Agility, Speed, Jumping, Throwing

P
Major: Punting, Confidence
Minor: Strength, Vision, Agility, Speed, Jumping, Throwing

I'll open up rights for NECowboy when I am back at an unblocked ip. Don't wanna waste one of my 3 day ssh-tunnels(create an ssh tunnel then export the display) until game days:)

I got a better DE than originally mentioned. We got a level 16 DE and level 5 C. The Center will boost of course but is just depth. We'll set the rotation so Rafferty plays 'til he nearly passes out:) He should make the Pro Bowl this year!!!!

Everyone here is probably already doing it but please do open up your profiles/stats to all team members. There are a handful of guys that know tricks at each position and can share those things. There has been a lot of theory craft done now at each position to determine what various attributes boost for each player at each position.

Please try to boost the attributes that matter and not make your guy resemble a real-life player. That was a huge mistake I made with Tony Jedi and he has sucked every since because of it. I appear to be overcoming it now but it takes like 5 levels to make up for bad skill point dispersement.

The DC Warpath moved out of our group. We have beaten the Wichita guys so have high hopes.

I plan on leveling up Tom Rafferty when the season starts and throw all 5 points to Stamina. That'd put me at close to 49 in that department. Any thoughs on whether it should be even higher right now, given the new depth chart? I know there was some talk about not doing alll 3 levels all at once. NP at all. It was about us having depth and we were really strong at C with the two of us but now we can shift some of that depth to the DE position since it is such bad shape and because defensive guys run through stamina much more quickly.

The last day off off-season will be Tuesday the 10th. That is the last day to boost for season 2, and the last day to get your stadium sections built for season 2. Sections built on Wednesday will not be built until season 4.

Season 3 will officially start on Wednesday the 11th, which will be day zero. Schedules will be generated that day sometime, and season ticket revenue will be processed sometime afterward when I get to it. This will also be the first day to boost for season 3.

Heads up to the Zone Boys - this is a life and death matter, IMO. ;)

This is my post from our GLB forum.

Also, when your level for attributes gets to about 50, it starts costing 2 points for every 1 raise. Something to look out for. If you have put equipment money into unnecessary things (ie a FB adding speed eqiuipment when he could really use some 1 for 1 strength) then also contact me. We may be able to sell off your old equipment, redo your contract, and get a good boost to strength with equipment so you can get more out of your SP.

Putting money into equipment where previously you had stocked up less pertinent attributes is a GREAT use of our money. If you can sel all your equipment, restock it (say you're a DT, and strength is most important - you sell all your equip because you're at 50 strength, and even if you boost, you can only get up to 57. You put 12 points in equip, suddenly you're at 62 strength, and you can drop that SP into other things where you're still getting a 1 for 1 value.) then that can be a great help to our team.

Heads up to the Zone Boys - this is a life and death matter, IMO. ;)

This is my post from our GLB forum.

What you can do is take your current eqpt, unequip it and buy new equipment with secondary stats on it... equip it before you boost your skills to 50.

For instance.. if you have gear that takes your strength and agility up 9 points each and that takes them both over 50 you can unequip that equipment and put on equipment that drops them below 50... add skill points then re-equip the gear.

So even if you have bad gear you can keep it and just equip it for boosting or for specific assignments like a LB using speed gear when he knows the other teams uses almost all 3 and 4 WR sets so the LB covers all game.

Only level 4 (7w/ early boost). We need a gunner type / 5th corner or should I find him a one year gig?

Anyone have any good pics of the Shark Dance ??

jterrell - when you boost it ignores the equipment you have, iirc. So even if you have 12 points in strength for your equipment, that's not going to show when you boost anyhow.

Best thing to do is boost your primary attribute until you reach 50, then load up on equipment for that attribute, and put your skill points into lesser areas where you're still getting 1 for 1 value.

What do they give you in return for selling your current equipment? Skill Points? Flex points? I just reached 50 speed with Mynuts, and will need to alter my gear to further his burnage.

If it's just standard equipment, you get like 2/3 of the money you spent back. That way I wouldn't need to give you as much money to get all brand new equipment, if you wanted to dump it all into speed.

If it's custom equipment, you get back about 2/3 of the FP you put into it.

I was down on custom equipment before, but for higher level players, it's the best thing you can do.

If your guy is level 16+, you can put 12 points into a single ability. You can also add one level to an entire ability tree. So, let's say your level 16 DT has 50 strength, and wants to go even higher. With custom equipment, you can get to 62 strength and add an entire level to your ability tree - 1 for 1. However, if you want to add that strength with flex points, it will take you 4-5 levels of boosts to reach that 62 plateau and add that special ability tree.

If you're going to get special equipment, wait until you've maxed out one attribute to the 50-level, and then just go heavy with equipment on that one attribute. If you require more speed, you can gain 24 simply using equipment (fake money and flex points) in one second, whereas it would take you 10 LEVELS to do the same thing just by levelling up.

It's a huge advantage.

Please boost him so he have a good fourth cornerback. I think both cb will come back.

We also need the CB from Wolfpack, but I think it would be best to put him into d-league for some games and call him up in the middle of the season.

I boosted Killed Theisman and did notice the skill points were based without equipment which was nice because it didnt cost 2 points for speed until I hit 49.25 undressed. So he is well over 50 with gear on.

Ultimately, he may have two sets of gear, 1 set focusing on strength and 1 set focusing on speed. That way I can test out the use of both to see which way he is a better player.

When you sale equipment you get back 1/2 of the virtual dollars you used. It looks like an even rate of return on flex point items.

The FBs had over a 100 yards between them...:D

Inactives are tied to the last log in of the agent, not the playing time. So an inactive person could be on the depth chart still. We try to put the inactives at the bottom of the chart when possible.

Get on the GLB forums. There are numerous threads there that can point you in the right direction as far as what attributes are important for what positions.

If I were to start over, I would concentrate more on the basic attributes rather than spending my skill points on "special abilities" early on. They cost too much to a young player. Also, when you buy equipment, I'd use whatever points you get from it on one specific attribute. For example, if I buy some black cleats and they give you three points to upgrade, I'd use all three on speed rather than 1 point on speed, 1 point on strength, and 1 point on vision.

Good luck, but don't be surprised if your FS doesn't light it up in the stats column.

We stopped their pass and that made it tough for them to score. Next game will be much of the same.

Dallas ZoneBoys vs Miami Vampires

Without D.C around irritating them, Dallas seems like a more focused team this year. Miami has had proven success in other leagues and look for them to get another huge challenge in this game. Dallas would be one of my early season favorites to go all the way, so a win by Miami would definitely let them know they have a great shot as well.

I would say to train vision daily. Should see a huge increase there quickly and that will help you get open. Agility will also help with getting open.

I wouldn't pay for speed or catching once they cost 2 training points to increase until agility and vision are both over 30.

We generally mix up the 1st, 2nd and 3rd WRs for matchup purposes but a level 20 WR would start for us.

I believe Captgut will see what he might be able to work out in trade for you. Tough doing so though because we do not have much overall depth and we have mostly zone members so less trade ammo. Ideally we would have been able to get by with offering cash but I doubt the owner will be motivated to take that deal since he has you under contract for another season plus.

For some reason.... 24 seconds left... 2nd & 2 we attempt a 50 yard FG...

seems to me, it would've been better to go for some extra yardage to make the FG easier.

But we did fumble on the previous play, so the AI obviously decided not to risk it and kicked a FG...

our kicker is pretty reliable after all.

good job on picks tho:)

geez, can not believe they scored 27 points with 7 INTs.

2:24 left on the clock in the 4th quarter (or something like that). We had the lead, and were in FG range. The AI had our Offense make pass attemps on 3 consecutive downs, yielding zero yards and only 7-8 seconds off the clock. We hit the FG, but gave them the ball back with over two minutes left. We should have gone Parcells on them & run the ball to eat clock. They take it for a TD, and win by one. crazy.

A lot of it will depend on the DL you face. You may want to increase either agility or vision as with 60+ in the main areas you are probably just getting avoided by DL if you are not piling up pancakes:)

Pancakes can vary greatly by week because who you face is so important.

They have no depth on the D. They only have 2 DT's, and use their starting Center to back both of them up. They has 2 stout DE's, but a level 4 DE is all they have behind them. They only have one SS on the team. They have a solid set of starting DB's (but no SS depth). Their game is their starting LDE, who leads the conference in sacks. Decent coverage + strong pass rushing artist = sacks and turnovers. We should run against these guys and wear them out. Passing will play to the strength of their D, IMO.

My gut sense is yes running the ball heavily would be smart but we'll let our offensive coaches scout/gameplan it.

I do like our depth advantages. If they get tired in the secondary we could pass the ball in the second half.

If we had the advanced AI options to do so running about 65/35 in the first half then passing 65/35 in the second half may well lead to a big win.

wolf, capt gut.

can you guys check out this other team I play for and our backup center owns?

http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=387

For some reason the team sucks horridly at running the ball.
It is really sad how bad we are doing with all the high levels on that team:(

chemistry is shot for one.

Yeah, sign with us. Nice DT. 8 sacks is great.

I don't know about the Collierville Hammers running game. I need to know their gameplans to say something. But you are right, you shouldn't lose that many games.

I am not a gm or anything and just sent my qb over there because we already had two but the owner is a really nice guy and I feel for him.

If you have any advice at all I'll pass it along to the owner.

Upon review of previous games, A TE playing FB was found and his catch for 0 yards revoked.

Dallas ZoneBoys vs opponent TEs:

9 games
9 catches allowed
72.5 yards allowed

I'm not trying to steal away players, but I just got a team in the Candadian A league, so if anyone needs a home, please message me in GLB (name is bags) or here.

I have a lvl 4 Power HB if you need another one... his name is the Cunning.

Hey bro, I'm on that team too. We're in need of players, and Bags is pretty active over there right now, so you could PM him over there (his name over there is "bags" too, Edmonton Beavers Canadian A#5). If you know anyone with some linemen, we just lost a few to a bad account.

good lord bro, lvl 23 making 40K per year????

yikes!!!!!!

sign with us:)

it will cost 200K just to get level 24 eqpmnt.

I'am under contract and the Team (OOTP Ballers Canadian AAA #1) is really, really good (W 8-0). Dominant. We allowed only 9 pts (FG). All players (Offense and D-fense are over LVL 21). Within 2 season will be my turn. I want to sign over 125k :D

I have a level 4 OT named Bigg Katt that is on a CPU team. I have 30 unused skill points and I can still boost near season's end. If you need a guy, I am a guy.

any offer to you would be over 125K at this point because their is a minimum salary and minimum signing bonus you can offer someone at that level. i'd ask for a raise for sure.

I put in some backups on offense for todays game.

grizzbear who owns the team I linked earlier, Collierville is about to dump that team.

He is understandably frustrated with the lack of success. We will probably add some depth from that team.
Cap, Wolk scout them to see if we should ask for anyone specific.

We'll get back my QB and Center who are both level 23 or more and then we can trade off my guys as needs arise.

Capt.Gut

We could use the following guys for starting positions

Level 21 WR: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=140161
Level 22 DE: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=114716
Level 22 CB: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=70025

They have some good LB's. But I think we are set in that department. I like grizzbears LB though.
As backups we could use both backup safeties, since we have none at SS and at FS Brian Griffin is inactive since 06/02. Don't know if they would do that though.
At how many players it is called gutting? I dont' want to go in that direction for sure. We should only make trades if the players want to come over to us.

He is going to disown the team but is willing to help us and his players before he drops it.

I have already told him I'd gladly take on his own players and we may have need for various others.
Essentially I think most of these guys would be cool being backups for us and willing as they have been losing big. But yea, we'd talk with all the owners of course.

If we get 5 guys out of it that's great. My own players can be used as ballast for a trade later on because we are deep in those positions. Or they can do to Defenders or whomever needs players.

His team isn't set around Cowboy fans, they are just a team that he put together recruiting guys as he could. They'd lose and some guys would want to leave or refuse to re-sign then he'd have to sign more guys and the morale stayed low.

Some of the guys he can just cut and we can sign w/o trades.

I don't know if anyone would be interested...

or if it is even good for the team.

But I might, and I stress might, be able to get my level 19 WR in a trade for my CB Sky Warp.

I haven't spoken with the owner of the team my other WR is on... but should I initiate a conversation?... or I'm just smokin some of the QC weed?

If the Zoneboys aren't interested in this trade... then I will be fine with that too...

I wish i could get on a cowboyszone team.....I am a level 20 WR and one more game until im a level 21.

...and it doesn't look like we were able to do much roster-wise.
We did get the lvl 20 SS that Wolf owned in a cash trade but thats it.

So at least we have 3 active safeties now.

I do think we'll have a shot to add some high level guys at the end of the season. I have had a few queries at WR specifically.

We would have won 100 - 0 if you would have stayed with the original gameplan. I think Jerry Jones and you have to stay away from the sideline and let the coaches do their job. :laugh2:

Well.. a tough loss.

Currently we are the 4th seed. We are tied with the Miami Vampires who have the same record.

We HAVE to beat the next two opponents (Buffalo Blizzard and Paris French Connection) and possibly the third game (Fresno Ninja's) to get us a home playoff game.

We haven't had that yet, and I'm sure that will help our revenue.

This loss hurt.

On the plus side... watch my corner, playing FS fill the hole... boo yah!
