Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State has been a thorn in Oklahoma's side since Les Miles took over as head coach.
Miles and the 20th-ranked Cowboys hope to pull off another upset of the second-ranked Sooners as the teams continue their intrastate rivalry in Stillwater on Saturday.
Since Miles arrived four years ago, he's managed to stoke the fires of what was once a lopsided rivalry -- Oklahoma holds a 75-16-7 lead in the 98-game series.
``Oklahoma is a very good football team, and this is a rivalry game. A big game for in-state teams,'' said Miles on Tuesday. ``The history of our two teams in recent years benefits us some, but this game will be unique to Saturday.''
The Sooners routed Oklahoma State 52-9 last year to gain a measure of revenge after consecutive losses to the Cowboys in 2001 and 2002.
Oklahoma State's 16-13 upset win in 2001 cost Oklahoma a trip to the Big 12 title game, where a victory would have sent the Sooners to the national title game. In 2002, the Bulldogs led throughout in a 38-28 victory that sent the Cowboys to their first bowl game since 1997.
Those Oklahoma State wins have heightened the tension in a relationship that was already strained when Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops hired Miles' top recruiter, Darrell Wyatt, for his own staff after the 2001 season.
Regardless of the history, Oklahoma (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) isn't about to let Oklahoma State (6-1, 3-1) spoil its National Championship hopes again.
``We go in knowing it's going to be an exciting game that we've got to come in and play to our ability,'' Stoops said Tuesday.
Oklahoma has a lot on the line after moving into second place in the Bowl Championship Series standings this week behind No. 1 USC.
The Sooners jumped ahead of No. 4 Miami after the BCS standings debuted last week with Oklahoma surprisingly in third. The top two teams in the final BCS standings will meet in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 4.
Stoops doesn't want his team to get overconfident.
''... It just doesn't matter much yet,'' Stoops said about the BCS standings Monday. ``We have to play Oklahoma State this week. That's the only thing we're focused on.''
The Cowboys will likely get a heavy dose of Oklahoma's high-powered offense led by quarterback Jason White and running back Adrian Peterson.
White threw for 389 yards and four touchdowns against and Peterson ran for 127 yards to lead the Sooners to a 41-10 win over Kansas last Saturday.
White threw touchdowns of 69, 61, 41 and eight yards and Oklahoma's defense held Kansas to 256 yards offense.
Peterson joined Emmitt Smith and Marshall Faulk as the quickest freshmen to gain 1,000 yards. The talented running back has run for at least 100 yards in each game and has 1,027 yards and seven touchdowns on the year.
The Cowboys are also adept at running the football. Oklahoma State has rushed for 1,886 yards, 20 touchdowns and is averaging 269.4 yards per game.
Vernand Morency leads the ground assault with 1,153 yards and nine touchdowns. The junior running back is averaging 6.1 yards a carry.
The Cowboys have run the ball 378 times compared to just 99 pass attempts. Oklahoma State's ground game has overshadowed a surprisingly consistent season from freshman quarterback Donovan Woods.
Woods is completing only 52.7 percent of his passes, but has tossed nine touchdowns and three interceptions. The freshman quarterback has also run for 213 yards and seven scores.
Woods threw a touchdown pass and ran for another to rally the Cowboys from a 17-point deficit to a 20-17 win over Missouri last Saturda

I just caught the last drive of that one, but it was absurd. The dropped passes hurt bad, but worse was the idiot play calling. You can't run on that team, and since an incomplete pass gets you a time out, that doubles the futility of trying to run around the tackles against such a speed D. Those were wasted downs. Wasted.
Then expect some kid whose career long was 39 to kick it 49.

I have no dog in that race.
Just thought that last drive was dismal coaching.
The southern most teams of the Big 12 seem to have very fierce schedules, beating each other up in quality competition week to week.
Hence my gripes re USC.

Are you kidding me, Cal is ten times better than Texas. Cal could very well beat Oklahoma. The other teams in the Big 12 South are weak. Texas AM lost to Utah and Baylor. Texas Tech has a flashy offense until they play a real defense and their defense is anything but real. OSU is a solid team but they aren't top 15 quality by any means. ASU is better than most teams in the Big 12 as well.

Dallas, you are like one of those fat meathead fans. I know your type. If you are were a Raider fan, you would probably pour your beer on someone who didn't wear enough black. If you were an Eagles fan, you would throw your beer on Santa Claus. I bet you are eating a big fat Ekrich sausage and drinking some Nattie Light while you are reading this. I bet you look like Kenny Rogers. I'm sure your idea of a great philosopher is Toby Keith. I bet your wife cuts your hair with a floabie. I bet you still talk to your buddies on CB instead of a cell phone. I bet you think the Electoral College charges tuition. Just think, we would never have met each other if it wasn't for our joint love of OU and the Cowboys.
I'm actually glad you are an OU fan. Someone has to swing his his wife beater in the air and expose his belly with "GO OU" written on it. We need fans like you bro.
I salute you

Lets see. A run down of Dallas.
Making about 90+ a year working as a Network security specialist for the state of Alaska. Im not married. I am a father of a 4 yr old little boy - full custody and raising him alone. I ride hard on the weekends in the winter on a couple of new Polaris RMK 700 Mt. sleds I picked up. So while you are nappin on the couch I am at about 6k ft on a mt in Alaska every weekend tearing up the powder. When Im not doing that Im on the other side either skiing or hiking. My shape? My diet? Hahah. That was funny. Oh and is an Ekrich sausage. You at least know what it is. This may be because you enjoy long and tubular morsels? :D
So....your batting -14. Want to try again ?

Yeah, I nap on the couch for a couple of hours during the day. That's what medical students do because we don't have time to sleep at night. And if you don't believe me, PM Hostile and he will verify it. I would like to go skiing on the weekends but then again, I don't have the luxury of time that you NT admins or excuse me "Network Security Specialists" have. Did you get your MCSE? Or are you better than that; do you have your CCIE? And I would hope you would raise your son. After all, it is only your responsibility. No one asked you to have a kid. Would you like credit for clothing and feeding him too? Just make sure your boy wears a sweatshirt at OU games. I would hate to see him like his daddy wearing nothing but body paint at Owen Field in November.

I don't think he was serious hence the smiley face but in all fairness, we could lose to Texas AM. We might take them for granted. Sometimes, these weak opponents scare me more than the quality ones because you tend to slack off a bit against teams like AM.

I don't know what the hell happened at Baylor. I was rooting for Texas AM unlike some of my fellow unenlighted OU fans... ahem...Dallas. The last thing we needed was for one of our ranked opponents to fall from 14th in the BCS to 22nd.

is MCSE? Thats like pre-k bro. Get with the times. No. My entire background is Unix and Cisco. I have my CCNA/CCNP. If I did not have this then I wouldnt be cracking 60k.
I think just about everyone I know is a medical student. The guy next door is a medical student. I think his wife is debating on going to medical school. Most fail and turn into nurses. We will check w/ you in 3 years and see how Medical Insurance Training school is working out for ya. :D
BTW. Have a kid and work 60 hrs a week then go home and be a full time dad. Dont even try to understand. Dont try and relate. The life adjustment one has to make to make that commitment is unreal. My hat is off to all single mothers and fathers everywhere.
Im going to do this. Im going to step back from getting personal with you. You and I never nor will ever get along. I see that now.

Oh please, Cisco certification is a joke. I used to be a project manager at Nortel that hired guys like you. It's essentially a correspondence course you pay 10K for. CCNA/CCNP are a dime a dozen. Go on Monster and there are thousands of you out there unemployed. The CCIE are the real boys. This is why you ignored my mentioning of CCIE because you know you don't have the goods. At the time, the CCIE were so rare they were numbered and they could walk in anywhere making about 120K full time or 80 per hour. What I learned is that network engineers were people who were too stupid to program and earn real money like the Java server side architects. Most of the higher level programers attended a real college and got a formal degree in computer science. The network engineers usually went to DeVry or any other generic and unaccredited technical school. They spent years taking these Cisco courses and moving up the Cisco certification hierarchy which anyone can do. The CCIE is higher than any of the other credentials you have. And you are probably working in Alaska because in any other major metropolitan area, your job would be fielded to some H1B from India who can do your job for about half the money.

You don't even have to own a college degree let alone a GED to get my Cisco certification. You can go to DeVry and Uncle Jessie's Technical School in Ada Oklahoma and learn what you are doing. I don't see my medical school advertising to dropouts at 3 AM in the morning right after the DUI lawyer ads. Do your math Kenny. 15,000 students get into medical school each year out of 45,000 who apply. The last I checked, I didn't see over a hundred thousand physicians looking for work on Monster. A lot of people think about going to medical school but how many of those people actually get in. There are hundreds of thousands of people like your wife who think about but can't do it. Also, the drop out rate in medical school is 3% so most people in medical school do graduate. Those who drop out usually become PA's (physician assistants), pharmacists or computer engineersAnd I'm considering Rads (radiology) or cardiology so I have to be in the top 20% of my class to stand a chance at nailing one of those fields.
BTW. Have a kid and work 60 hrs a week then go home and be a full time dad. Dont even try to understand. Dont try and relate. The life adjustment one has to make to make that commitment is unreal. My hat is off to all single mothers and fathers everywhere.
I don't really care because I didn't ask you to be a dad. Likewise, my wife and I aren't going to have a kid because I'm not stupid enough to have a kid when I'm not ready. If you ask me, it's your freaking job to raise your kid. That's not something I would take credit for. Seriously, you sound like those guys Chris Rock was making fun of. You want credit for something you are supposed to do: "I feed my kids." No , it's your job to feed your kids.
P.S. How are you working 60 hours per week and then skiing, hiking on the mountains while still raising a kid full time by yourself. I guess you never see you kid during the week and then you go to the mountains during the weekend Sorry, the math doesn't add up. I'm guessing you are inflating the number of hours you work each week.
Im going to do this. Im going to step back from getting personal with you. You and I never nor will ever get along. I see that now.

Hey listen Devry, maybe you should have realized that when you called me out. You don't call someone an idiot simply because you disagree with their opinion. If you can't handle my criticism of OU, then respond like a gentleman and a professional and not like some thug. You never liked me from the beginning and you just attacked me from day one. Did you really expect me to be cool to you after you have been an to me since Day one? Are you that thick? People are generally not receptive to those who attack them unless of course they are either , Mahatma Gandhi or Martin Luther King.

Dont get me wrong. Nurses are important bro. You go give some shots and take someones blood pressure, clean a bed pan and take a temp now and again and get back with me. Let me know how its going.

BTW...my son comes w/ me on just about all my excursions. Even with his young age I would put him against most adults climbing and riding anyday of the week and all day Sunday. He can snowboard w/ the best of them. Can you believe that? Hes 4 man. The kids amazing. Literally.

Dude, you will be lucky that Apu in Banglore doesn't immigrate to Alaska and steal your job. I would be suprised if you were still employed in the same position in 5 years. The poorest doctor still pulls down 120K so I think I will be doing "slightly" better than you in the worst case scenario. FYI, docs don't work in nursing homes. We work in hospitals and veteran hospitals.

Which companies did you work for? I worked for Nortel in Santa Clara. My experience is accurate because I worked for a real company in the hotbed of everything related to information technology. It's safe to say that I know a lot more than you. I didn't work Ardmore Technical Advising Corporation. Why would I want to be a CCIE when I was a project manager that supervised them and earned 60K per hour on contract. I had guys like you e-mail me their resume. I got bored and decided to go to medical school. I could earn far more money and have real job security

Oh now this is priceless. I take it you have your 4 year old in a little backpack while you go down hill skiing. I take it he rides in the trunk of your snow mobile. Hey Dallas
One can get their CCNP in just 11 days without even having to attend class for $6,995.00. Now, I see why you got this degree. You ate pork rinds and watched taped reruns of Hee Haw while simultaenously becoming an "engineer." Now that you are an alum, I bet your 4 year old won't have any trouble getting into this school when he grows up. Med school, what the hell was I thinking?
