You can watch episodes of LOST online for free. There are numerous links on the internet. I suggest watching Season 1. I love the show.
Val Kilmers - Salton Sea - Good show - great story
Hard Candy - Ellen Page - She played in the movie Juno - Great show!
Those are a few good ones I have watched recently that I enjoyed.
Good luck.
the Salton Sea looks pretty interesting not something i'd usually look for, might hit the video store and try to find that tonight thanks

If you want to go out without a hassle of crowded theater, I recommend seeing "21" asap. It's been out 8 weeks here in the states so there isn't as much interest with the big summer movies coming out now.

I just watched a movie from Netflix that I'd never heard of before but it was fantastic!
It's called "Ladron Que Roba a Ladron" and it's a spanish-language film that's subtitled, but it was great!
It's a heist/action movie that's also very funny. I highly recommend it if you don't mind subtitles (or can understand Spanish).

A few movies that may not be known by some.
Formula 51 - Funny and action packed.
October Sky - Maybe it is just because it deals with youth in WV, but I think this is a very good movie.
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - English movie but I liked it.
Excalibur - It is an older movie but I think the best one did about King Arthur.
Boat Trip - Silly comedy but it makes me laugh every time I have watched it. Roger Moore as a gay guy just makes it funnier.
Catch me if you can - Based on a true story and it is a decent movie.
Waiting - Yet another silly comedy that makes me laugh.
Shogun - One of my favs, even though it is nowhere as good as the book, still one of the better tv mini-series ever made IMO.
Bad Santa - Full of language but I never fail to laugh at it...when I say full of language I mean full of language.:D
Rock Star - I know many that hate the movie. However if you were an 80's metal head it is worth watching. LOOSELY based on Halford leaving Judas Priest and the guy who replaced him.
Porkys - Silly 80's comedy. Don't know if it was big over seas but it is one of those raunchy, silly 80's comedies that you love it or hate it...plus you can buy the 3 pack dvd set at a low price. All 3 have funny parts in them.

I have gotten my six yr old grandson interested in the INdiana Jones trilogy. We still have to see the Last Crusade in the next couple of weeks before the new one comes out. It was good to see him get excited about something I got excited about 25 yrs ago.
I had forgotten a lot of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom movies. He now like INdiana Jones over Spiderman which I thought was a big accomplishment.
I took him and his mom and grandmother to see Speed Racer for mothers day. Very disappointed in the movie. A 2 hr 15 minute kid movie gave me a major headache. Went on way too long.

I know watching the DVD is much better than catching it on TV where it is edited and the pain of the commercials intruding every few minutes.
However this past weekend they showed all 3 movies on the USA network both Saturday and Sunday. I watched all three as it had been sometime since I had seem them. Loved the 1st and 3rd one, still not too keen on the 2nd one.
I hope the new one is like the 1st and 3rd one and not like the 2nd one.

I totally agree on the 2nd one. It was demonic. Loved the Last Crusade with Sean Connery and looking forward to seeing it again in the next couple of weeks.
I have already informed the grandsons mom and dad that I am taking him to see the newest one since I got him hooked on it.

It is great when a young person finds older movies or tv shows and likes them.
My wife's little sister, when she was a few years younger, could not get enough abbott and costello movies or I Love Lucy shows.
I found it so odd seeing a young kid like those old black and white movies and shows as you could not get most to even consider to watch them.
We used to have a good time just watching her laugh at them.

no, that was her only acting job. After that movie she fell in love and got married.
She was an extra in the restaurant scene and a couple of others. If you have the DVD, there was a deleted scene where Travolta pulls up in a limo and gets out. My daughter (blonde) is one of he first in line to applaud his arrival. During one of the takes, she accidently bumped into Travolta and the director got on her case. She had fun with it.
The acting group she was a part of had a big premier when the movie came out. That was fun.

I am glad I am not the only one that got that feeling. Even the short ad for the movie...I just kept thinking this was going to be another like the 2nd movie except instead of short round we have this Shia kid.
I hope I am wrong but that was the feeling I got after seeing the title and the first preview ad for the movie.

I did the same thing this weekend with my kids. About halfway through Raiders, I said to myself "why are we watching this on TV? I have this on DVD!" :laugh2:
So we moved downstairs to the big TV, popped it in the DVD player and watched the first two! They loved it, although a few scenes were a little intense for them.
Great to see them embrace it... lots of fun.

We made it through Fellowship, but it was a chore. The language was advanced enough that we could only do about 3 pages a day and at that rate it took quite a while. The Hobbit was much easier to get through. When he's a little older we'll watch the movies and then I think he'll be able to follow the books a bit better.
Right now I'm reading the Chronicles of Narnia with both my 7 year old and my 4 year old. They love it and we can get through a chapter a night pretty easily.

I never read those as a youth but rather enjoyed the first movie. I can see how it would appeal to you. Some of the symbolisms are quite obvious but still a good movie IMO.
I look forward to the next one coming out on dvd.
An interesting thing to tie those books/movies together. JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were in a club together or should I say they belonged to the same club, the Inklings. I think at one time Tolkien said he wished that Lewis would not have mixed the greek mythology characters in with his story with the other beasts but don't remember much about them beyond that.

I think at one time Tolkien said he wished that Lewis would not have mixed the greek mythology characters in with his story with the other beasts but don't remember much about them beyond that.
It's interesting, Lewis clearly intended his Chronicles to be a Christian allegory, whereas Tolkien flatly rejected any attempts to allegorize (not sure if that's really a word :p: ) his work -- be it religious or political.
Irregardless, I think the Chronicles work well on whatever level you want to read them... be it as a blatant Christian allegory, or a simple morality tale independent of specific religion, or even as just a good old fable where good triumphs over evil.
I'm not surprised by Tolkien's criticism of Lewis, if you can call it that. The Chronicles do contain kind of a strange mixture of characters that are clear Christian parallels, little fuzzy animals that are purely whimsical, and characters like satyrs and dryads and even Bacchus and Silenus that are straight out of Greek mythological tradition. The interactions between them can be a little jarring at times.

Well, these are my favorites:
Lonesome Dove (like Hos mentioned, prepare for 6 hours)
McLintock! (A Western comedy with John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara)
Braveheart (just a great guy movie)
The Untouchables (Great cast with Costner, DeNiro, Connery, Garcia)
Dances With Wolves (A great, great film)
Midnight Run (Excellent comedy)
The Outlaw Josey Wales (By far, Eastwood's best Western, IMO)
Sudden Impact (My favorite of Eastwood's Dirty Harry series)
To Kill a Mockingbird (A classic, starring Gregory Peck)
Sergeant York (along with "Pride of the Yankees," Gary Cooper at his finest)
The Cowboys (A very good John Wayne Western)
A Bronx Tale (Another great DeNiro film that is very underrated)
Donnie Brasco (A good mafia film, based on a true story, starring Pacino and Depp)
Caddyshack (A classic comedy and "guy movie")
13 Days (Another underrated film, this one about the Cuban Missile Crisis)
The Natural (A beautiful baseball movie ... I love the time period)
Field of Dreams (Another good baseball movie from a classic book)
Bobby (This came out about a year and a half ago. It's interesting and underrated, IMO. Sort of slipped under the radar, but a fascinating look at the assassination of RFK through the people's lives who were at the Ambassador Hotel that night. Directed by Emilio Estevez).
seen most of those but there's always a few movies on every list that i haven't and gives me something to look out for :)

Yes.
I thought it was pretty good.
It's fairly long and moves at a methodical pace, but I liked it. Casey Affleck is creepy as Bob Ford. Brad Pitt does a real nice job, too, and the movie is beautifully filmed.
It's not a typical shoot-em-up Western. It has a lot of psychology in it, which I liked.

An Innocent Man is tight up there with Cool Hand Luke, Shashank, and Green Mile.
