I notice that the NY Times, CNN, etc never talk about the lack of apologies from the other side on all the mutilations, beheadings, etc done by the bad guys. Only that we always need to make a big deal because one stupid soldier screws up.

My instant, initial reaction to this was, 'hey, f*** 'em".
But then I remebered something a marine told me less than a week ago.
He was showing me how his name is written in arabic and telling me that he is an honorary tribal leader of two tribes in Iraq. It made me realize that one, the people of Iraq believe in what our country is doing there and two, that disrespectful acts like this can only jeapordize the relationships and in effect the goal that our soldiers are trying to accomplish.
I understand what you're saying, but look at it from that perspective. We are better than the savages that cut off peoples heads and glorify the act.
I'm proud of that.

Yes we are better. But not according to the NY Times, etc.
