The song's ok, but it was done poorly.

BTW, I didn't think the music was all that great either and it's tough to do here in Nashville.

The album comes out when the season begins in September.

Romo and Simpson were spotted leaving San Diego today (June 1st).

Anthing going on in Dallas this week, football wise?

Don't get too harsh here just yet folks. Better look at the video at the international airport in San diego & quit maybe trashing your QB girl. All it does is add pressue to him. It's his life & choice. If there not back in Dallas wher are they passport in hand!! Then again if your ready to let another team pay the big bucks for him to move I guess its your loss right!!

Keep it nice folks !!

Not at all you misunderstood my post. Enjoy whatever music you like as you like but to continually put someone down because of who you think they maybe shows closed minded.
Being supportive of your QB with less pressure only makes the season better for you. You may not like his choices & thats fair but it doesn't help him with abuse of someone he seems to care about being continually trashed by the same.

Let it run its course is all I am trying to say. One thing I believe I have noticed about Tony is if you try to make his decisions for him he will go in the opposite direction. You cannot force TONY to do anything he doesn't want to do.

Just so you understand me also I do like them as a couple but I woudl never attempt to make a choice for him or ridicule the choices he makes for himself or same for someone he cares about.:)

X2...this doesn't work and nobody will buy this (apart from the 10 or 15 Jessica fans out there of course).Very few hard core country fans would like that nasal pop whine sound put to a country song. Sales of this would be to her pop fans who just have to have it.

I said that she's trying too hard to sound country....not that she accomplished it. She definately sounded different and not natural at all.

Guess what it was just announced the song just made chart history in the Tennesean??

http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080602/TUNEIN02/80602091/1864/TUNEIN

“Come On Over,” which was released to country radio last week and debuted at no. 41 on Billboard’s country singles charts, makes Simpson the highest charting debut solo artist in the history of Billboard’s country singles chart.

Not bad hey!!

Word is she is moving back to Dallas too!!

^^I think he means she has an added twang to her voice that isn't normally there, she doesn't have that on her pop songs. She just doesn't sound right on a country record, you listen to actual female country singers (Carrie, Mianda etc..) and then you hear this....she just sounds out of place.

Carrie probably debut on another chart first!!

It actually is moving on pop too but slower of course. either way it is an excellent start & I don't think you can compare the two women. It is not fair to them for starters. I like Carrie & I like Jessica & both have very different sounds. A little something for everyone. That is why Country music has diversified so much. Some of the traditional people don't like this & the reverse is true for others. It's all good!!

On another note her reviews & positive comments from the country music industry have been very favourable. Much more positive then negative by a long shot. Now if you want to get into the gosssip sites & people like Perez its nasty but the ones that count are behind her & that is encouraging given the crap for the last 7 months.

gazmc_06
06-03-2008, 06:17 PM
Nah, I didn't mean to compare them, I just wasn't sure about the debut thing. Carrie being one of my favorite arists I obviously prefer her, but you are correct, the diversity what makes music so good.

Lets be honest here Carrie has a lot of pop to her songs also & so does Miranda, Kelly,Taylor etc any of the new young breed. Yes Carrie can sing traditional also but latley has more POP.
This is only one song yet for Jessica give it a chance & wait to see what the next one is. She could be very traditional.
I don't hear a lot of twang in any of the ladies above other than Miranda. lol

On another note Jessica did a very fun, light & real interview from Dallas this morning before she left for the airport. The girl is very grounded actually. IT was a phoned in interview to a Chicago station.
Good stuff for those really interested!!

Good stuff for those really interested!!For some singers country music has a twang. Not all. It is a myth that all country singers twang.

To me Pop singers have a distinctive sound too. In my opinion Jessica had that sound.

Country has had a Pop influence for a long time. Sometimes it is good. Sometimes it isn't. I don't hear them having that Pop sound though. The nasal. That's what I heard. It doesn't sound like a natural voice, which is why I don't care for Pop music and prefer country. Most of them really can sing. Even if you don't like the genre you can still appreciate a good voice. To me, the nasal sound is not pleasant at all.

Carrie and the others you mentioned still sing traditional country sounding songs, but there is definitely some Pop crossover to it. The song themes have the country feel and the nice voices.

I'm struggling to think of a song that would describe the nasal sound I'm talking about but I honestly avoid the music. I think a lot of them try to sound like Janet Jackson and it alters their natural voice which makes it sound like they are singing through their nose.

I can perfectly describe how I feel about the Pop influence in country though. George Strait said it perfectly.

Murder Down on Music Row

Nobody saw him running from sixteenth avenue.
They never found the fingerprint or the weapon that was used.
But someone killed country music, cut out its heart and soul.
They got away with murder down on music row.

The almighty dollar and the lust for worldwide fame
Slowly killed tradition and for that someone should hang (oh, you tell them alan).
They all say not guilty, but the evidence will show
That murder was committed down on music row.

For the steel guitars no longer cry and fiddles barely play,
But drums and rock n roll guitars are mixed up in your face.
Old hank wouldnt have a chance on todays radio
Since they committed murder down on music row.

They thought no one would miss it, once it was dead and gone
They said no one would buy them old drinking and cheating songs (Ill still buy em)
Well there aint no justice in it and the hard facts are cold
Murders been committed down on music row.

Oh, the steel guitars no longer cry and you cant hear fiddles play
With drums and rock n roll guitars mixed right up in your face
Why, the hag, he wouldnt have a chance on todays radio
Since they committed murder down on music row
Why, they even tell the Possum to pack up and go back home
Theres been an awful murder down on music row.

Amen George, amen.

OK so I'll take that so now the next question is where is the list to start knocking off all these other artists too?? LOL There are far too many to mention I think. lol

Any song at any given moment sang by any artist can fit that bill.
When they opened up the genre & moved away from traditional we now have all the new country.
Some choose to live in the past some like to move forward but it truly is right now the only music out there that can tell a story. The other stuff rapp or what ever has nothing to offer.

Faith Hill, Gretchen Wilson, actually one I can see Jess following, you got Leanna Rhimes at times ( she has moved from country to country pop it seems which is reverse) the new girl on the Block from dancing(can't remember her name) The point I am trying to make here is just not Jessica. her next song may not be nasaly at all. I had wished actually that she use another name just to put it out there for the closed minded to see if they felt the same with out knowing it was her & then how would it be accepted??

"Come On Over," which was released to country radio last week and debuted at no. 41 on Billboard's country singles charts, makes Jessica Simpson the highest charting debut solo artist in the history of Billboard's country singles chart.

The previous record belonged to Miranda Lambert and Brad Cotter who both debuted at No. 42.

Now this I don't agree with, I am a big rap fan and I feel that out of any artist in the world - Kanye West has the most artistic creativity to offer at this moment in time. I do personally think that there are only a few genre's left that tell stories that can be related to (Country, Rap and at times rock).

From Music Row Afternoon News:

Warm & Attentive

Jessica Simpson entertained radio programmers with some discussion about her Nashville ambitions, an audio snapshot of her upcoming Columbia CD including new single “Come On Over,” and a huge helping of celebrity at the Musician’s Hall of Fame & Museum (6/4). In person Ms. Simpson’s personality is instantly addicting. She is warm and attentive. In the few brief moments we met she recalled excitedly meeting Amy Grant by chance in the BMI Country Songwriter Awards valet car line this past year (your Scribe was coincidentally present taking to Vince). Jessica also gushed about writing with Nashville songsmiths, and later from the stage told the crowd she loved being able to go places in Nashville without a load of cameras “staring up my butt.” Simpson’s brand—a ditzy, but glamourous blonde—has launched a business empire that includes cosmetics, fashion, jeans, perfume, handbags, reality TV show, makeup, DVDs, movie roles, shoes and more. Forbes lists her as earning about $7 million in 2007, but the true value of her business assets is in the hundreds of millions. Consider that the retail value of the entire country music industry in 2007 was $1.2 billion (RIAA), and you can see how the enormity of her brand compares. Her new album is scheduled for Fall release.
