Both think they are hilarious when they arent.

Jim Rome has the terrible quality of thinking hes cool.

I dont think either are qualified to be on TV, this is a tough one

Rome is far worse mainly because Rome constantly harps on the same thing throughout the show. So not only if the joke is terrible, he'll keep repeating the joke over and over, ad nauseum.

He's also not very bright. I remember years ago he did a TV show special on UFC/MMA and he knocked the sport as human cockfighting where guys would eye gouge each other. His 2 guests corrected him on that stating that eye gouging and fish hooking was not legal in UFC/MMA (with one of the guests that corrected him being against UFC/MMA, but still correcting him). Anyway, in Rome's wrapup he then goes on to say that the sport is human cockfighting where guys just eye gouge and fish hook each other. Obviously, he can't stray away from the script and it's pretty typical of what he does.

Strangely now he's all for UFC/MMA. But that's because it's popular. Another thing that typifies Rome.

When I hear Rome talking tough and commenting on players "jack" I need to switch over, he's painful to endure.

Tony's not too bad but he's not great either. He doesn't really need to much personality for ATH. For the 10 seconds he on PTI he can be more lively.

I can't stand Jim Rome. I mean c'mon. what has he ever done in his life, besides make himself look like a complete joke. His show is completely scripted and he doesnt even come up with half of the **** he says. And he repeats himself over and over. He's soo annoying. i cant watch his show. Thinking he's such a and talking shyt to people who have actually proven themselves in the sports buisiness.

Having gone to high school with as well as playing baseball with Jim Rome, I can tell you he is one-hell-of-a nice guy off screen. What you see on screen is simply a T.V. persona. Also, his show is not nearly as scripted as you might think. He is very intelligent and is perfectly capable of adjusting on the fly.

Rome's opinions are like anyone else's -- I agree with some and disagree with some.

But I really can't stand listening to him on the radio.

Too much dead air.

The worst person on radio is Steven A Smith and most of ESPN radio's hosts are not much better.
Cowheard is an idiot. Picture Skip Bayless as a radio host and you have Colin Cowheard.

You cant get much more ignorant than Steven Smith. I also cant stand Chris Collinsworth either. What a flake. One of my favorite guys to listen to is Mike Trico. I think thats how u spell it. He always seems like a down to earth guy.

I don't think Rome is all that bad. The only thing I really can't stand is all the tool-bags out there that try to call in and mimic his style and delivery and even going as far as laying down his "and I'm out" bit.

That's Jim Rome in a nutshell. He's all about delivery instead of substance.

Some people dig that. I personally do not.

Thats exactly it. He thinks its funny to have a different name for everything. Cant say grand, has to call it "gr". Cant call Micheal Jordan by his name, calls him "45" with the stupidest smirk. Calls T.O. "too".

His smart mouth almost got his *** kicked.

Same here. Frank Caliendo does a great impression of Rome, he talks about how Rome is the only guy that can get away with that radio pause he does.

Toni is a great host for ATH. Its a fun, fast paced, and enjoyable show for sport finatics which gives you the perspective of a variety of characters. Jim Rome is a ranting brown noser who always is burning on something. The man should get checked, noone should burn like that.

If anyone remembers when geraldo rivera went to the Pistons/Cavaliars??? game dressed like this...

Rome would probably never lessen his hardcore coolness <sarcasm> and do something like that

Never heard of the Tony guy.

But Jim Romanovsky is a punk for the ages.
We've all seen his junior high tendencies (Jim Everett tipping over the table on Jimmy) and his grade-school rants (making fun of people who live in trailer parts (and his seeming inhumanity (making fun of injured players).

He's just a punk with a voice like a 15-year-old.
Not very smart but he gets by with his crazed followers (junior high to first year in college.)

When I hear Rome it is like nails across a chalkboard.

I actually like Reali. He's a sarcastic ***-hole, but i can actually tolerate him. Which i can't with Jim Rome. I can't stand that black chick, that fills in for Jim Rome sometimes either. Just tries to imitate Romes style, and fails poorly.

I grew up listening to Jim Rome. My brand of humor is pretty mean spirited, so he's right up my alley. I'm old and wise enough to see through his shtick, but I still catch him when I can.

As for Tony Reali, he's totally innocuous. He doesn't bother me nearly as much as some of the other people on Around the Horn. That show has been utterly terrible ever since Max Kellerman left.

That's the way I feel.

For what it's worth, Rome has developed into an outstanding interviewer. He asks good questions and has a good rapport with his guests.

He's come a long, long way since "the incident."

I don't watch either enough to form an opinion either way, but I will say that Reali's attempt to look suave w/ the unbottoned shirt (when he becomes stat-boy on PTI) is not working, he still looks like a geek

I like them both too. You have to take them for what they are worth. Rome gets eccentric to get ratings, and Reali hosts a not-so-serious sports talk show.

I don't think he's trying to look suave. He comes right off the set of Around The Horn, where he always has to wear a suit, to a set where a guy will wear a turban and pretend to be a mind reader, or where they hold up cutout faces and pretend to be other players, so he'd look a little out of place as "stat boy" in a suit, so he takes off the jacket and tie in an attempt to dress down without actually having to change wardrobe.

If he wanted to be suave, he would have stopped being "Stat Boy" right after he got his own show.

You just about nailed it!

Except that I dont think Rome is solid... he thinks he is.. but he is not.
To me he looks like a guy that is acting like he is ready to go off at any minute(like psycho) but it seems like an act.
