Jackson vs Griffin
A little over 24 hours until the Pay-Per-View but im getting pretty pumped for it already.
If Griffin can make the fight go into the late rounds he is going to be hard to beat.
I got Jackson winning though but its going to be epic.
I can't wait to watch it tomorrow. Who do you guys think will win?

Heh, can you tell I don't like Forrest? He shouldn't have won the TUF contract. Bonnar won that fight. Now every TUF fanboy on messageboards like Sherdog thinks the goofball is Fedor or something. He should be fighting at heavyweight but because he knows he has a big advantage over smaller fighters he stays at Light Heavy.

205 is 205 man you could be six foot 7 inches and be 205 and the other dude be five foot five 205 still the same weight class. Just because super tall dude has a height and most likely a reach advantage over said little dude doesnt mean he'll win.
Hey now i like the U.F., I'm no fan of FOrrest but i wont call him over hyped dude has fought hurt and beat one of the baddest dudes at 205...cant really knock him for that

It's not just the height though. He walks around when he is not fighting at 230 plus. He cuts a lot of weight to get to 205. Come fight time he is way over 205. Just look at the Shogun fight. He used his height and weight advantage.
Shogun was not like the Shogun of old in that fight but I will give Forrest the credit for that win...remember though Forrest also got destroyed by the other TUF reject Jardine.
I'm gonna go with Rampage but it wouldn't surprise me if Griffin managed to win. I don't care how out of shape Shogun was for their fight a win over Shogun is still impressive

Anderson Silva walks around at 215 naturally.
Im sure most of these guys try to cut weight like that when the time comes.
Working as hard as they do they probably have huge appetites as well lol.

I dont know how out of shape Shogun was.
The tempo was just set at a fast pace for that fight and there isnt many guys at 205 who can hang with Forrests Cardio.
If its a fast pace fight tonight and Rampage doesnt end it early Forrest could do the same to him.
Its impossible to gas that guy I think.

you should have your gripe with weight cutting in perticular the large amount these fighters cut. Matt hughes says he walks around at 190 lbs. only tu cut 20 lbs to fight at 170. I read Rampage was almost 240 before he started to get ready for this fight.

The majority if not every fighter cuts weight. It's asinine to hold that against a fighter. "You cut weight! I hate you!" Um, okay.
I don't see anyway Rampage loses this fight. Rampage by whatever he wants. I feel bad for the winner of Almeida/Cote. For winning this they get to be decimated by Anderson Silva later this year.

I'm interested in the Gonzaga/McCully fight on the prelim. If Gonzaga loses he's done with the UFC for awhile.
If Koschek gets by Lytle - which he should, but Lytle is always game - he would consider dropping to 155 for a chance to fight Penn.

Forrest won.
I dont think he did enough to take the title off the champ but hey what ever.
Great fight. Rampage about got his leg broke and still hung extremely tough.
There will definetely be a rematch. I see no reason for Rampage not to be the #1 contender.

i think forrest best shot was a draw. i had page winning rounds 1,3, and 4. you gotta do more than forrest did to take a belt. and a ud for forrest????!!!!! some judge had it 49-46 for forrest. bs decision imo and i hope page gets a rematch right away if his leg is ok.

I agree. Did you see how much Goldberg and Joe were pulling for Forrest? Retarded Joe was acting like Forrest was killing Page or something. UFC most have really wanted him to win.
I'll give it up for Forrest though, he did good. I wish Rampage would have finished him when he had Forrest beat in the first round. 49-46 though? That is ridiculous. If Page would have fought more in the last round he would have won the decision.

for real man. the ufc puts too much into "octagon control" rather than effective striking.

Did Rampage get screwed?
By NEIL SPRINGER -- SLAM! Sports
It’s the morning after UFC 86 and many fans are posting their displeasure over Forrest Griffin’s title win. Some are calling it bad judging, others say it was a fix and then there are the nut bars who claim it is the result of a conspiracy helmed by the ‘evil’ Dana White.
This is nothing new for the online mixed-martial arts community. You can’t go one event without someone making an asinine claim based on little evidence.
However, the scoring for last night’s main event certainly makes little sense, supporting the claim that the judges are either blind or stupid.
Judge Adalaide Byrd gave rounds one, two and three to Griffin, with the second round being scored 10-8. This gives us a total of 48-46 for Griffin.
Nelson Hamilton had rounds two, three and five for Griffin. He also scored the second 10-8. This adds up to 48-46 for Griffin.
Finally, Roy Silbert gave Griffin every round except for the fourth. The second was also scored a 10-8. So this totals 49-46 for Griffin.
So we have two judges giving the first round to Griffin, even though he almost had his head taken off. One of the main pieces of criteria for scoring a match is effective striking. The key word is effective. Jackson blasting Griffin and knocking him down was the most significant shot in that round.
They also didn’t take into consideration the fact that Jackson clearly came back strong to take the third round by dishing out more damage and staying out of harm’s way.
I actually had the bout scored as a draw with Griffin taking rounds two (10-8) and five, thus giving us a total of 47-47.
So what does this all mean? It was a super close fight and it really could have gone either way. Though I disagree with the judges’ score cards, the rules are left so open to interpretation that things like this are bound to happen.
Regardless, a rematch needs to be signed so we can find out who the better man is.

ufc 86 conference call notes
-Dana White thanked everyone for attending the event this past weekend, said that they will be back again with the best pound for pound fighter facing off on july 19th and told everyone it would be a great fight.
-Said that Rampage would need a win against a top guy to get another title shot and stating that there is a rematch with Wanderlei still out there...
-Dana mentioned that Patrick Cote would be fighting sometime in October again, probably on the Leben, Bisping card and said that card will come out with more great fights..
-He said Liddell and Evans would be the number one contender and the winner of that would fight in December, thats if the winner comes off Injury free.
-Thanked Forrest for his efforts and said this is a example of what the Ultimate fighter can do for a guys like him.
-Quoted that Josh is a great athlete, but needs some more wins to get a title shot...
-He ended by saying Forrest will have a title defense in September, and October and will fight again in December in the main card if he defends
his title in Sept, October.
possible projection of ufc 205 title picture
Dave Meltzer is reporting exclusively on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Dana White and Joe Silva have already have "an idea" in regards to the 205 lb title picture. Dave believes every source within the UFC believes that the winner of Liddell/Evans fight is going to be the next challenger for the Light Heavyweight Crown recently won by Forrest Griffin. The timing at which the fight takes place depends on who wins the fight. If Liddell were the victor, the title fight would take almost immediately at the year-end December event from Las Vegas with Forrest Griffin. Although none of the UFC personalities would admit who they are rooting for between Evans/Liddell, it is pretty apparent they want the latter to emerge victorious. A fight between Liddell and Forrest Griffin could very well break the Pay-Per-View and Gate records set by UFC 66 (Liddell/Ortiz II). The UFC officials are not sure when a Griffin/Evans fight would take place, but they believe it would not happen this year.
As for the future of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, it is believed that his next opponent will be none other than nemesis Wanderlei Silva. This could fight could very well happen later this year in November, at UFC 90. Dave Meltzer also believes that if Liddell recaptures the Light Heavyweight Crown, Silva/Liddell II will be for the Light Heavyweight Championship at the "Super Bowl" event in February. As for Lyoto Machida, most sources believe he is a possibility for Jackson as well, but maintain that his next fight is likely against Thiago Silva instead.

Dana wants his golden boy to get the belt 1 more time and we knew he wasn't gonna take it from page. though i do think Rampage will beat Wandy the next time they fight.
Bored by the UFC. Would rather watch Affliction, Elite, and Dream. Former pride nuthugger here. Tired of Dana. What happen to the days when a fighter would fight 3 or 4 times in a day? Those were the days. Pride Eliminations were the best...

I hate Elite XC with a passion. Bad reffing, bad cut doctors and they want Kimbo to win at all cost. Gary Shaw is a very shady dude. I still watch EXC only because of Gina, Diaz and Phil Baroni.
