That car is pretty hot. I am a pontiac guy when it comes to that bodystyle.... otherwise I am a Chevy Chevelle guy (1966).... 1955 & 1957 Bel Air

This camaro looks like a morph between the old camaro(obviously) with a touch of the Monte Carlo SS from the mid 80's.

Just curious... I know the 67 camaro needed work(aesthetically) and I thought they eventually accomplished that finally in 69.... why the 68 for you?

Only real diff between the 67 and 68 is the window inlet on the side doors.

Reverse taillights as well.

68 has a special meaning to me as well. I had a 68 firebird as a teenager. Basically the same as the camaro but with few differences.

I love muscle cars. These plastic revisits don't qualify to me. I'll take the real thing, the wrenching, and the welding, over these things any day. Just my opinion though.

I love muscle cars. These plastic revisits don't qualify to me. I'll take the real thing, the wrenching, and the welding, over these things any day. Just my opinion though.

Some of the newer muscle cars past the mustard to me. This is one of them, the mustang and the challenger.

They want to make it look similar to the old ones but have a newer edge, esp in the interior department as I can say the old 68 firebird was rather bland on the inside.

Then you have the abomination that pontiac put out a few years ago in the GTO. It only had two things in common with it's original...the name and some horsepower.

I like the blend of some of these newer ones.

Plus I don't have the mechanical know how to fix up an older original nor the money it would take. By the time you find an old one and re do everything it can wind up being much more money than buying one of these newer ones.

I doubt it, but it does have something to help save in the gas department if your read the article, and I have heard this about them prior to this one.

The V-8 model switches between V-8 and a V-6/4 in the engine.

So if you want to trounce on it, all 8 are kicking, however if you get on the interstate, put it on cruise control, it switches to the v-6/4 mode to save some gas.

I'm a mechanic in my own mind, so I'm one of those guys that collects projects, and occasionally completes one or two of them. I prefer owning cars that I can work on myself, and the new ones don't apply. Too much electrical crap not enough displacement. I applaud what american manufacturers are trying to do, but IMO, they're still a step or two behind German automakers in performance, and behind many other foreign automakers in quality. I'd take a BMW M5 or an Audi RS4 or RS6 over any of these cars any day.

I'd take the original muscle cars...almost any of them...over the german sportscars though. Give me a 40's 'ratrod', and I'm even happier.

Some might say this is sacrilege, but if you've ever driven an RS4....you'd know what I'm talking about.

Yes that is the downside to the newer cars. For those that are able to work on cars it takes that away a great deal and it also makes it cost more for the normal person as they are forced to take it to a shop that has a machine it can hook up to the cars computer and so on.

as of right now they are just fiddling with a turbo'd 4 banger and like BP said we have displacment on Demand (cylinder shut off when they aren't needed)

and i'm saving up for the top of the line model, which is not listed a super charged 500+hp fire breathing gas vaporizing beast :)

Displacement on Demand works. I have a GXP that I have driven to a Cowboys game and it was getting around 26mpg on the highway. I usually have a lead foot in town so I only get 13-14mpg then. When the DOD kicks in, it sounds like you're in too high of a gear. But it works great regardless of the weird sound.

I haven't decided where to use my Supplier Discount with GM so it will be either a G8 GXP, Corvette or the new Camaro SS.

It is a show where a guy will find an old car and make it into a top end muscle car and then auction it off. And at the end of the show they are always worrying if they will make a profit from the auction after the money they have put into the car.

Anyways one time they did a "green" car. Did all they could to have a good muscle car while at the same time getting the best MPG available for it.

I can not remember the HP vs the MPG when it was all done but it was pretty good considering the HP it had.

Is it "Appraise My Car"? I was watching that last night on Discovery HD. They had a 1968 Camaro Z28 on it. The guy wanted something in the high $60K. They appraised it at $58K and that was the final bid price at auction, so the guy did not sell it.
