just a question guys, (if tampa bay does get farve way it is looking now) tampa bay is showing strong interest) maybe that way we can get chris simms;
but do you guys think the packers called dallas to gauge interest in farve, since the packers by reports did call 20 teams?

Nope, no way the Packers call the Cowboys. First off, we play the Packers in the 3rd game of the season in prime time; Second, we are their chief rival and leading contender for the SB from the NFC; & third, the Cowboys would laugh in their face. Does anybody remember how well Romo played against the Packers last year and how bad Favre looked against us before he was forced from the game, plus how bad he looked/played against the Giants in the playoff game. Why in the world would any Cowboy fan want the old Favre cause there's no way Favre plays 2nd fiddle to Romo.

I would say you can eliminate New England, Indy, Dallas, Pittsburgh and Cincy right off the bat. After that, it would be anyone's guess.

As a backup. Then we’d have two QBs who choke in the playoffs! Kidding.

ok just wondering guys, i just dont want farve in minnesotta, he would scare me there wiht that darn good defense, their top running back peterson, they would be hard to beat in playoffs with that bad defense;
id rather have chris simms here anyway,
but one team reported if green bay traded farve to tampa bay, they would want chris simms in return and some draft picks

No, but here's my thing -- everybody thinks it would be ridiculous for them to give the Vikings a call, since he would be in the division. But really, why not? Minnesota has the greatest desire and as a result, would be willing to give up the most to get him.
If I were Ted Thompson and the Vikes were offering up a #1, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Secondly, is it possible that Green Bay could trade the guy to Tampa Bay, who could then trade Favre to the Vikings? Just wondering.

im sure the packers would have a clause in there so that a team couldnt trade him like that,
also on the vikings theory as it stands now, green bay may get a top draft choice from vikings anyway due to tampering, the phone calls that farve had with childress and asst head coach;

I'll bet the Redskins called them. And I hope they get him. It's one more guaranteed win for us (Favre NEVER wins at Texas Stadium) plus, with all the drama favre is creating they would deserve each other.

THey called every team in the AFC minus the pats and Indy.
Then every team in the NFC except Dallas, and everyone in the NFC North.
Serously though, i doubt they actually called 20 teams. 10, maybe, 20? C'mon.

Yeah, but another team just got busted for that last year -- San Fran I think. I think the punishment was a fifth rounder and swapping spots in the third round. Not exactly devastating and certainly not a first-rounder.

I will add the Giants, Chargers, NO, Cleveland, Seattle....... and more than likely Tenn, Den, and Arizona.
That's 13 teams.

1st - doesnt matter... Romo is starter and will be starting that game barring a Favre doing a Tonya Harding on Romo lol
2nd - there is no rivalry.... we beat their arse
3rd - hahaha hehehe hahaha

I would call 28 teams if I was intent on trading him. The only ones I would not call would be the 3 Division rivals.
I think they are out of their friggin' minds not to welcome him back with open arms.

yeah Hostile, wouldnt it be crazy if something happened to their starting QB, and now after trading Farve, they dont have any QB with real pro football experience.

There's always more to the story though..personally I think his 2007 was more of a fluke than anything else...he played ok vs Seattle in that playoff win, but otherwise from the Dallas game onward his end of the season wasnt very impressive...he went back to throwing alot of picks again starting against us, and threw right at half his season total of picks in a 4 game stretch...then threw a couple mroe vs NYG and playing downright awful as a whole that day.
McCarthy has coached him for a couple yrs now and has probably tired of his act and free lancing...IMO no matter who he plays for in 2008 (if he does play) he's gonna be struggling with tons of turnovers again

thats good insight dbair, i didnt look at farve that way, i think one thing about farve, he was tiring out by the end of the season last year, thats why he waited so long, not to be using his arm, but stay in shape

Exactly -- so why are they so worried about him going to the Vikes? Again, if I were Ted Thompson and the Vikes were offering a #1, I'd make that deal in a second and watch that interception machine take down another team.
What is really going to be funny is if they manage to trade Favre after this circus and then Aaron Rodgers goes down in practice with an injury. Of course, that hasn't happened before.
Oh wait, it has. It's funny that somehow, Rodgers seems to be gaining some credibility throughout this whole ordeal when in reality, he is nothing more than a pop-gun armed California QB who had a couple of nice plays against a Cowboys team that had clearly let up. Funny stuff.

yeah, ted thompson is going to take a huge beating if he does in fact trade farve, and then rodgers goes down with injury before season starts, then you can kiss the packers season goodbye
theres an old saying, never burn a bridge, because you may have to go back across it, now the packers have burned that bridge and it may bite them before the year is out

I don't know the total number of teams contacted.
But I do know that only one NFC team was contacted. I'm guessing Tampa Bay, but I'm not sure.

Good grief me too.
If your in a time frame where the door is open to win a Championship and your telling a guy like Brett Favre, arguably the greatest player in your franchises history, that he cant come back even when he was playing at a high level then your out of your mind.
Im glad they are out of their minds.

#1 How could you possibly "know" that, particularly since you don't even know if that one team was Tampa?
#2 16 AFC teams + 1 NFC team = 20 teams?

I live in Wisconsin and the local news is reporting that only one NFC team was contacted. They also state that the one NFC team contacted may be Tampa Bay, but they are guessing that.
That's how I know.
The local news also says that within a week the Packers should have an answer on exactly what their plans are for Favre.

Considering Favre is 0-9 at TX Stadium, color me not-surprised if they indeed called us.

I don't think that can be done. Fairly certain there is method or means to accomplish it.

I'm almost certain that you can't have such a clause in a trade agreement. You could have a verbal agreement to such, but not a legally binding one.
