Do you guys like the current system that's in place or do you think that each states votes should proportionally go to a candidate based on the popular vote for that state?

Electoral votes = not a true democracy. Meaning: the electoral college sucks and I hate it.
However, I have zero faith in our government to conduct fair elections at all times. :D

The electoral college forces the candidates to give SOME attention to small states. If not for that then the Dems would only campaign in about 17-20 states all the time and ignore the majority of them.

I dunno. I think a proportional system for each state and not a straight popular vote winner might negate some of that.
I'm not a huge fan of the electoral college, but it does have its benefits as well as its downsides.

We had a vote in Colorado during the past presidential election cycle on this issue and I voted for making it proportionate but my friend argued that it was unfair because it took weight off of the majority vote. However, I think a proportionate system gives a more accurate portrayal of the states wishes.

The two major parties won't allow citizens to be an elector unless they agree to cast their vote straight party. They managed to corrupt that like they do everything else...
I'm sure socialized medicine won't be corrupted though... ;)

Without the the electorial college we would have 100 years of Soci...er Democrats since the majority of all urban communities are liberal and that is usually where the densest population for any given state is.
