Are Republicans Getting Their MoJo back???

By God, I think so.

From NRO: (http://corner.nationalreview.com/)

I just heard that the House G.O.P. wrapped up their protest session at 5:05 by singing "God Bless America" and left the chamber with the crowd chanting, "USA! USA!" Unbelievable.

Also, I there's this little tidbit -- after the Democrats shut off the microphones, Rep. John Shaedegg ran out to turn them on. In an update to the post I linked to earlier, the Politico reports:

Apparently, the fiesty Arizona conservative started typing random codes into the chamber's public address system and accidentally typed the correct code, allowing Republicans brief access to the microphone before it was turned off again.

"I love this," Shadegg told reporters up in the press gallery afterward. "Congress can be so boring. ... This is a kick."

John Culberson of Texas has been twittering the whole thing and it has been a hoot to read. Twitters like this:

This is a huge peprally to give America a vote - just let us vote - to drill here drill now to get us through the next 10 to 15 years

House floor and gallery are full of Americans who came to the Capitol to see Congress work yet Speaker Pelosi sent us all home

And she turned off the lights on her way out apparently.

More:

Cong Mike Rogers says every day Pelosi wastes America sends 50 million to Putin 200 million to Saudi Arabia 180 million to Hugo Chavez

I just told the House chamber We the People can take back the Capitol with these new media tools by networking and shining sunlight everywhere

Go twitter and the Internet. Shine the light into the darkness that is the operation of Congress!

John Culberson is the Congressman that gets the new media. Check him out! (http://twitter.com/johnculberson) (Follow me on twitter too (http://twitter.com/rightwingsparkl)!)

It gets even more sweet:

In total, 48 Republicans spoke on the floor Friday, offering remarks ranging from the impassioned to the plainly partisan. Michigan Rep. Thaddeus McCotter declared, "This is the People's House. This is not Pelosi's Politburo." He later pretended to be a Democrat, walking to their side of the floor to announce all the votes they had prevented.

Let's combine this with McCain not letting Obama get away with his snarky barely hidden remarks on race (http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=ZWViNjNkNGE5M2Q5MDcyNjU2ZDNkZTY3Y2M3NWUzNWE=)an d I would almost think that Republicans are remembering where they put those things that Jesse Jackson wanted to cut off Obama!

Are Republicans Getting Their MoJo back???
The answer is no. They will get their Mojo back when they go back to being the party of fiscal conservatism, less government, and a less intrusive foreign policy. Chanting USA and other slogans is worthless unless you back it up by action. I would love to see McCain run on the issues and not Obama's perceived faults. I have heard more about what Obama is going to do from the McCain camp then I have heard what McCain is going to do from the McCain camp.

"Are Republicans Getting Their MoJo back???"
Only if they can, once again, convince a lot of Americans to vote against their own self interest.

Not one issue in this election favors the Republicans. Not energy, not health care, not ending the war, not our economic slump, not our enormous federal deficit, not our overwhelming concern that the country is heading in the wrong direction. But we've certainly shown our ability to make mistakes in the past, no reason to think it isn't possible this time around.

I doubt if anybody will remember any of the Republican's antics to sell our beaches and coastline, around November.

This was a stunt, nothing more. I saw Culberson's twittering on this. Nowhere did any of these Republicans mention the EIA report that suggests we won't see any real effects from new offshore drilling until 2030. They are either ignorant or outright lying to sell this as an immediate panacea to the American public.

*note: There is no way of knowing how much oil we can retrieve and how fast. As someone who has been around the oil industry for 25 yrs, I know this. Even the govt cannot know. But even it's true, we all know that increased drilling lowers prices. Even the THOUGHT that we may drill more brought the gas prices down. AND I remember in 1980 the Democrats saying the exact same thing about more drilling. And that would be how many years ago? Yeah. If we had then, we wouldn't be having the problems we have now. I don't know about you, but I still plan to be around in 2030. And our children will be around too. -TexasSparkle

Bam had trouble putting Hillary away, so it's no surprise he can't shake McCain.

BAM'S BERLIN BOUNCE GONE

August 2, 2008

WASHINGTON - Barack Obama's "Berlin bounce" has gone flat.

The 9-point lead he took over Republican John McCain after his favorably covered world tour has vanished in less than a week of his return, according to the latest Gallup poll.

Gallup's daily tracking poll yesterday had the two dead even at 44 percent.

Pollsters called it a "substantial turnaround" from earlier this week, when the Illinois Democrat enjoyed one of the strongest - and longest-running - advantages of the entire campaign.

Obama's 49-40 percent edge over McCain came after his 10-day tour of Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel and Europe, which culminated in his Berlin speech, drawing some 200,000 people.

Unless McCain shoots himself in the foot big time, he will continue the slow process of stealing voters one at time.
