WASHINGTON - Paris Hilton's mother doesn't share John McCain's sense of humor.
McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, said last week that his campaign ad mocking Democrat Barack Obama with images of Hilton and singer Britney Spears was part of an attempt to inject humor into the presidential race.
On Sunday, Hilton's mother, Kathy Hilton, a McCain donor, registered her disapproval.
"It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs," Kathy Hilton said in a short article posted on the liberal Huffington Post Web site. "And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next president of the United States."
The ad plays on Obama's popularity by dismissing him as a mere celebrity, like Hilton and Spears. The Obama campaign has said the ad is proof that McCain would rather launch negative attacks than debate important issues.
McCain on Friday denied that his campaign had taken a negative turn, saying, "We think it's got a lot of humor in it, we're having fun and enjoying it."
Kathy Hilton, however, was unpersuaded, calling the ad "a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign."
Kathy Hilton and her husband donated a total of $4,600 to McCain's campaign earlier this year.

Her parenting skills without question are offensive.
However I would be upset if I donated money to his campaign only for him to turn it around and use it in a way that mocks my child as well.
Furthermore, whether some of you wish to admit it or not, what she says is true. Too much stuff going on right now for those idiotic ads that "now" seem to be a way to inject a laugh into the race.

I'm disappointed in McCain. To use his supporters like this makes me question his character. If he did this to my child, after supported him, I would be fuming. There are plenty of issues out there, whinning about Obama's popularity isn't impressing me.
Why McCain isn't hitting Obama on the issues is beyond me.
In 2004, Obama said he wasn't qualified to be President, why not make a comercial with his quote.
Gas prices are killing Americans, it is probably the number one issue. Let's hear some solutions.
What about the forgotten Terrorist, are we ever gonna catch this SOB?
There are plenty of issues, Obama's star status isn't one of them.

Let's be realistic, as if you'd donate money to McCain. ;)

I would not donate to either the republican party nor the democratic party.
Those nipple heads have enough money without me giving it to them.

With all of the issues that could be discussed we have the McCain campaign worrying more about obama and the press.
And yet Obama is the one that gets questioned on Substance?
Pretty lame

Obama gets hammered for it because he has none. No accomplishments, not foreign experience, no military background, and a p*ss poor voting record.
It's no secret I am not a McCain fan, but I prefer him to Obama.
Kinda like I prefer stepping in a small pile of dog crap as opposed to falling in a pit full of dog crap.

Then have the ads reflect that instead of just making him out as a celeb and the press fawning over him. Pretty simple concept if you ask me.

I think when you are compared to Paris Hilton, you are essentially saying that. Most people got the connection.

From NRO:
"The Paris Hilton Tax Break" [John J. Miller]
If it's so awful to pull Paris Hilton into politics, as John McCain recently did in a commercial, then Barack Obama shouldn't have dragged her into a Senate debate two years ago, when he attacked the repeal of the death tax:
Mr. OBAMA: Madam President, I rise to speak in opposition to the complete repeal of the estate tax.
First of all, [let's] call this trillion-dollar giveaway what it is—the Paris Hilton tax break.
In these remarks, Obama mentions "the Paris Hilton tax break" four times — check out the Congressional Record, June 8, 2006 (pages S5616 and S5617).
More Obama, from the same speech:
So if the Republicans want to bring up their Paris Hilton tax break to use it as an election issue later, I say go for it. Because I can think of no better statement about where and how we differ in priorities than that.
We will now wait for liberals to explain the political etiquette of Paris Hilton references: Okay when Obama uses them to condemn tax cuts, but not okay when anybody else uses them to criticize Obama.

Don't worry. They'll find a way to excuse Obama while still claiming that McCain was over the line. It's what they do.

I'm sure someone on this board will do the same.
"But, wait, even if Obama brought it up first, he's the chosen one and we can't criticize him. But McCain, the evil republican that he is, shame on him for even mentioning the chosen one in the same breath with Paris Hilton."
Or better yet, someone will say, but the repubs did this back in 1939 so why is everybody up in arms now.
Trust me, it's coming.

I acknowledge your win unless of course it's the old, "It's all Bush's fault" refrain is played again.
