Some players not buying what Parcells is selling?

Roy does a football show with one of sports guys on sunday nights. He wouldn't name names but according to Newy Scruggs of NBC5 who he does the show with. On Goodfellas this morning, Newy said that Roy told him last nite that there are a lot of guys that aren't buying into Parcells program and they need to go after the season.

Several guys didn't buy into his system and are already gone and replaced with lesser talented players that have no choice, but to buy into his system or they wouldn't be playing anywhere.

Buy or sell, the talent just isn't there.

I could care less if a person buys into the coach's system, as long as the guy plays at a high level.

Sub talent needs to go ... and there's ALOT of it.

Although mathematically the Cowboys are not out of it. However, chances are that they will not make the playoffs without a few incredible events happening in their favor. That being said, they really need to start thinking about how to finish strong and start to develop a core to this team that they can build on for next year.

This team needs to be divided into three classes of players: 1-Core players who will be here next year that the team can be build around, 2-Players who have some potential or haven’t gotten a good look to make a determination, 3-Players who just wont be back.

Going forward the core players and the players with potential need to get on the field together at some point. They need to start developing a comradery, a rapport and trust together, don’t squander these valuable opportunities with guys who wont be on the team next year.

I think Parcells will continue to have to use the full roster more or less, but he will have to start thinking about his core for next year.


Below I have indicated who I think will be back next year, and who wont.

OL – As bad as O-Line is in some games this is the most stable core piece of the team. This doesn’t bode very well for next season unless there are some significant FA acquisitions.

RB – Whew, this is tough. I don’t know why Reshard Lee is not getting a shot. Obviously Parcells doesn’t see what others attribute to Lee. I’ll have to list him as a question mark for next year.

S – Wow, here we go again. Like the LB position the Cowboys are going to be in big trouble unless they can acquire a big time experienced FS to help in coverage and lets Roy Williams do his thing up by the line. Hopefully Woody will recover with a season off.

I'm thinking that some of the new guys brought in have been the ones who haven't "bought in" to the system. I especially think that Wiley and George have had a hard time adjusting. I would be surprised if either are back here next year.
