A league source tells us that Cowboys coach Bill Parcells unexpectedly pulled the plug on Monday's day-after activities in Big D, sending the players home a day after an embarrassing 26-3 loss to the Bengals in Cincy.

Parcells was "pissed," said the source.

Though our initial reaction to the news is that Parcells might be thinking about resigning his gig with the Cowboys, the source said that Parcells has not indicated, through words or deeds, a desire to walk away.

With that said, wethinks more than a few guys wearing the silver helmet with the blue star will be wishing that Parcells had quit, since it's our guess that Tuna will be kicking some boo-tay in practice this week -- and every week -- until the Cowboys turn it around.

The more interesting question is whether the Tuna will be back in 2005. On one hand, he's likely had enough. On the other, we can't see him walking away from a train wreck. Our guess is that he'd give it another year.

Yeah, I heard that he was pretty pissed at practice yesterday, I think they got out between 1-2. But, I did hear that the powers that be took the Boys on a little "field trip" last night to the Maverick's basketball game. Maybe they're hoping that their winning ways will rub off on the Boys, since the Mavericks are at a 4-0 start now.

Short Shots

The Cowboys did not practice Monday and will take their customary day off on Tuesday. The players will have a much-needed extra day of preparation for their Monday night showdown with the first-place Philadelphia Eagles (7-1) . . .
According to the official site, the Cowboys never practice on Mondays.

Isn't it more of a day for dealing with the walking wounded in the training room?

Are there meetings and the like to discuss the previous game and handout the game plan for the next opponent?

Bluefin confused.

Well, they watch film on Mondays, have position meetings, and they usually run to get out the kinks of the previous day.

Cool, that's what I was thinking.

I hear practice and automatically think about being on the field.

Hmm, interesting, since Parcells himself, in response to a question about this week's practice, said the team wouldn't practice until Wednesday. That, & that they don't practice on Mondays anyway. And that the lockerroom was open yesterday. But why spoil a good rumor?

Everybody knows that they don't practice on Monday, but they do have team meetings and they run and sometimes lift, they usually get out around 4. Trust me, he sent them home early, that came from a couple of players...

What ever Bill needs to do to shake these guys up then do it, Parcells said yesterday the only think he has done different today than in the past 16 years was being nicer and not hammering the players as much. Well if it takes hammering players and coming down on them then so be it. At this stage I don't really care if a players feelings get hurt

I prefer the players feelings get hurt then mine being hurt on sunday watching them losing against Cincy...

If that's what they need, just be it.
Don't give up BP.

Just looking at the standings...i don't understand why the Cowboys are playing with so little emotion. I mean as bad as they have played, they are only one game out of the playoff race! Amazing how bad the NFC is this year. Parady has arrived.

Unless he told a few of them to STAY home, I'm not interested.

I agree, it was not really hard to see that Dallas looked like they were sleep walking sunday, no emotion. Hopefully some guys are doing some soul searching right now because there really is no magic button you can hit to get guys excited. This team as you said are 1 game out in the wildcard race despite the poor play, which still gives me hope that this team can come around and at least make a charge in the 2nd half of the season.

Really, my biggest problem with this team all year has been their lack of passion. They do look like they are asleep. It's odd too. I figured they would have been trying to show everyone that last season wasn't a fluke, and making everyone look rediculous for picking against them. Instead, they look like a lot of guys collecting paychecks.

It's tell you something about the lack of character on this team. Missing Woody is really hurting this team. Not only is Woody the captain of the defences. He's the Heart and Soul of the entire team.

Passion stems from the belief that you're going to be kicking butt on Sundays, and not having your butt kicked. I think they also know they don't have much talent, so they are a pretty unconfidant bunch.

I don't see any leadership on the field that the Cowboy players can rally around. There are a lot of players in the lockerroom that they respect, but no one they will run through a wall for.

I thought the Green Bay game showed dangerous signs of a team that might be quitting, but I haven't seen that the last two weeks. What I see is a team that has zero offensive weapons, and is therefore very easy to stop.

And it's not only the other team that realizes it... It's got to be a little depressing for our guys as well.

He realizes he made some mistakes and I think he will correct them for the last part of the year and next offseason.

I don't agree on alot of things he did this year but I don't want to give up yet.
