My grandson was asking me yesterday about the story of the Headless Horsemen. It reminded me of when I was in my teens, living in Louisiana and one Friday night took a trip to Saratoga Texas for what is known as the Bragg Light or Saratoga Light. The story I was told was an inn keeper went out looking for his cattle one night, fell over the rail road tracts, got caught, train came by and killed him. They found his body but never found his head and he is out with a light looking for it. I actually saw the light and was scared out of my mind. I found a few internet articles about the road and the light and this one kind of reminded me of my experience.

I went there in probably 1971 or 1972 and actually saw the thing. Anybody been there or have any other paranormal experience where you just can't explain it.

Sounds interesting. I have not been there, but may have to check it out.
I also need to check out the Marfa light out in West Texas. I have been near Marfa, but not at night time.

I have shared a couple of stories with friends. We just laugh at them. I don't claim that they are real, just that this was my perception as to what happened.
The first one I was sleeping at night. I woke up and heard children's laughter outside of my apartment. It was 3 in the morning. I looked out and did not see any one. I kept hearing the laughter and sounds of kids playing, but each time I looked I saw nothing. I did not hear speaking or any type of conversation. Just kids having fun. I did not put it past people letting their kids out in the middle of the night and maybe they were just in a spot where I could not see them from my window. It only happened once.
Another time in the same apartment complex I woke up and saw a ghostly image floating at the end of my bead. It was the typical greyish flowing robes, long grey/white hair and transparent shape just hovering. The mouth was open, but there was no noise. I was really tired and just said out loud "go away I am tired". I did not see it again that night or ever. It could easily have been a dream or my imagination, but the image is as clear today as it was when it happened. One thing about my dreams is that they usually take place in building I have never been to or they occur in the house I grew up in. They rarely occur in the place I currently reside.

I posted this some time back. There are people where I work who believe we have a ghost. The night Manager has heard footsteps on the walkway up to my office at night as he's locking up. The girls downstairs swear the radio changed stations one day and then changed back. The guy I share an office with has heard footsteps. I can even add to the story a little bit. One day I was working late and the office door opened. I rolled my chair over to see who it was. I could see the door closing, but no one was there and no one was outside the door either.
It was weird.
Some here believe it is a guy named Blair who died a few years ago. They want to leave out a bottle of Jim Beam for him. He apparently loved the stuff.

At my house, there's a certain spot about the size of a square foot in the hallway where you can hear something that sounds like whispering/white noise of some sort coming from the interior wall. I'd say it sounds almost like a radio or TV with the sound turned down real low; you know there's something on the station, you just can't pick out any words. It's easiest to hear when the electricity's out or at night when everything's turned off and it's quiet.
I've heard it other times over my wireless headphones, when that spot in the hallway is between the connection between the headphones and the headphones receiver. So I think it's some sort of interference, but never been able to explain the reason for the interference.

My wife and I went to Gettysburg on our honeymoon. On one of the last days we were there we got up very early so she could get some pictures of the sun coming up and the morning fog at Cemetary Ridge. We took pictures for maybe an hour, never going very far from our rental car.
When we got back into the car we saw very clear markings on the windshield of sabres with detail of the handles. One was pointing one way and one the other. In the middle were outlines of old binocular case and food containers. All of this is like the stuff used in the civil war. It had not been there the entire trip previous to that point. It was just like someone with all that stuff had been sitting on our windshield and it left the marks.
We drove around the town for awhile taking more pictures of other things and the image remained. My wife would have taken a picture but she had black and white film in her camera and she had wanted to save it. I eventually went to just clean it off with the windshield wipers and nothing happened. I reached out with my finger and wiped and sure enough, these images were on the INSIDE of the windshield.
We still have no idea where they came from and they remained on the windshield until we returned the car, though they had faded quite a bit by then.

The paranormal has always held great interest for me. I frequently read and study paranormal topics, though I've never been a part of any genuine paranormal investigations or "ghost hunts."
However, during my last semester in graduate school, my professor assigned a folklore project, and I decided to research the local folklore surrounding an alleged haunting in my small hometown of Pflugerville, Texas.
The haunted spot, known simply as Jake's Hill, is a small concrete bridge along a road bearing the same name. Its story is a standard one in small rural towns: Some farmer makes a deal with the devil. Winds up killing his wife and kids. He then hangs himself from the railroad emplacements next to where the concrete bridge currently stands. To this day, if you bring your car to a dead stop at one end of the bridge and shift the transmission into neutral, it will roll across the bridge, inexplicably brought into motion by some unseen, ethereal agents. Local legend holds that these agents are the disembodied spirits of Jake's sons, trying to push you away from their psychotic, demon-possessed father.
The story is hardly original. It exists in various incarnations throughout rural America--a fact I was well aware of going into the assignment. But it was unimportant for purposes of my project: I wasn't seeking to prove or disprove the haunting; rather, I was focusing solely on the local folklore surrounding the place, the stories and experiences people were willing to share.
As I conducted interviews, one of the more outlandish stories I collected came from a security guard working at the local HEB. He claimed he had encountered snarling, hairless, red-eyed "hell hounds" during one of his many trips to Jake's Hill. The story was so ridiculous I almost didn't include it in my report: Stories of phantom mists, disembodied screams, and ghosts pushing cars are one thing. Demon-possessed dogs were something entirely different and crossed into a completely different realm.
The story was so off-the-wall (even studies of the paranormal and folklore have their limits) that I promptly filed it in the deep recesses of my mind never to be retrieved...until a couple weeks later.
My sister had been helping me throughout my report, and we had visited Jake's Hill several times for research purposes. Late one night, as she was driving home alone from a friend's house, she was run off the road by a "huge, ugly" dog that "just appeared" in front of her. She struck a curb, and tore up the the side of her fender. Of course, I didn't connect her accident with the hell hound story; there was no reason to do so. This was one isolated incident.
Then, days later, I was up late one night reading for school. The door of my room was directly adjacent to the front door of the house, and just beyond the front door was a glass weather door. As I was reading a passage in Ed Abbey's Desert Solitaire, I was shaken by a popping noise very similar to the sound made by the glass weather door when it's opened. I then heard a noise like scratching on the front door outside. At first, I thought my sister was coming home from a late night party and was fiddling with the lock outside. But the scratching persisted for 30 or 45 seconds. (As it turned out, my sister was sleeping in her bed.) When the scratching finally stopped, I walked furtively to the door of my room, and tentatively opened it. My poor cat jetted through the opening, and immediately hid behind my legs. This was a very unsettling experience, but I still had yet to make any connection to the security guard's story.
The connection finally came to me when, days later, my dad would relate this story: He had awoken at 5 AM, as usual, to prepare and leave for work. It had been garbage day, and it was his routine to take the receptacles to the curb before taking his shower. However, on that day, something in his mind alerted him of some potential danger and insisted that he wait to take out the garbage until after he had finished his shower. So he did. And, as he was leaving for work, he glanced in his rear view mirror and saw (what he described as) a "grotesque, hairless" dog skulking away.
I'm not saying that me, my sister, and my dad all bore witness to demon dogs. There's a myriad of perfectly reasonable, non-supernatural explanations for what we experienced. However, I will say that I decided to include the security's guard story in my report.

I work at a museum and we brought a 105-year-old bridge to our site a year ago. It's a historic bridget that had been at two different sites in New Mexico throughout the 1900s. It was dismantled and put back together at our place where it allows for vehicle and pedestrian traffic across an arroyo.
I routinely visit with the security guards and janitors here and they started telling me that things have changed here since the bridge arrived. The security guards, who are here all night, say the've seen ghosts and heard voices on several different occasions.
Apparently, the "ghosts" are a little girl that is usually in a hallway leading to our kids playroom or she's sometimes in the playroom. There is a young couple that can be heard occasionally at the bridge, and there's a tall cowboy looking guy who they've seen.
I haven't seen anything or heard anything, but I believe the security guards.
Recently, a teen-age boy with Down's Syndrome who was visiting the museum with his family approached our receptionist and told her, "you have ghosts here." He told her that we saw a little girl down the hallway and that she was a ghost. Then, he said that there are others here.
Also, a lady who used to work here recently took a job at a museum in El Paso. She didn't believe in ghosts, but the museum she went to had a reputation for having ghosts. She was back here visiting recently and she had changed her mind. She actually says she talks to them now to get them to leave her alone so she can get some work done.
A lady whom I respect a great deal, told me recently that these aren't actually ghosts -- that they are demons who like to toy with people.
I never even thought about stuff like this until the past year, when the bridge arrived.

In downtown Tucson there is an old hotel called the Pioneer Hotel. An arson fire killed 16 people (I think that's the right number). People believe that their ghosts haunt the top floor of that hotel. The most famous one is called "The Lady in Red" who is supposed to have a red evening dress and is seen often. I think she was depicted in a movie in some way, but that may be just a rumor someone told me.

I believe I have seen two ghosts in my life.
Once as a young boy and later when I was in the army and staying with a friend.
Really scared me when I was a kid. When I saw one in the army it did not scare me just kind of freaky and at the same time kind of cool as the person I saw was the mother of the guy I was staying the weekend with. His mother had passed away a few days prior to that.

My brother is a Minister in Louisiana. When he was younger he pastored a church in SE Texas. A married couple brought their 12 yr old daughter in for counselling. The kid was messed up and the parents thought the daughter was possessed. During counselling, my brother said the air got extremely cold and this 90 lb 12 yr old girl picked my brother up off the ground and moved him to the other side of the room. My brother is about 6'2" 230 lbs and the girl treated him like he was a broom stick. Scared him silly.

When I was in the Army, one of my duty stations was WSMR, N.M. Being a NCO, I had my own room. One weekend I went to Juarez, Mexico. I found a chess set, carved from stone, it was really cool. I loved the game, so I bought the set. As soon as I returned to my room, I set up the board.
When i woke up the next morning, the board was in the middle of a game. Each time I set the game up, leave or sleep the game would play itself:D . I never did find the prankster soldiers, but I have to say, they never took anything out of my room.

About 5 years ago, I saw a little white traingular thing in the sky. It wasn't going in any real direction, just going around randomly. Wasn't traveling anywhere really. When it would go behind a cloud and I would look away, when I looked back it seemed to be somewhere completely different. And I know I'm not crazy here because I had a friend with me who saw it. I still wonder what it was.

I was stationed at NAS Lemoore back in the early 90s. My ex wife was pregnant with our 3 child so we had priority for base housing. My ex went back to TN to visit her family while I got the new house set up. I get moved in on a Saturday with the cable hooked up and all. so that night I get done watching TV turn the TV off and go to the master bed room and take a shower and lay down. Just as I'm dozing off to sleep the TV in the living room turn's on with the volume all the way up. I get up and turn the tv off and unplug it. well I go back to bed and as I'm laying there all the hair on my body stands up I would have sworn someone was in the room with me but nope no one there. The next day I go to work making sure all the doors are locked (I'm very paronioed about making sure everything is locked up) well I get home it's a sunday afternoon and my front door is open about an inch, nothing touched in the house just the door unlocked and open.
Fast forward a couple months my ex is home and we've had our youngest son he was about 2 mos old. we where having about 4 other couples over me and the men where playing a old game at the table and my ex comes out of the kitchen and snaps at me "Jack are you just going to sit there and leave your baby crying in the bedroom" I hadn't heard it till then but I look at her and tell her "he's right there in his car seat on the couch" everyone in the house shuts up because we can all hear the baby crying in the Master bedroom. I start down the hall and everyone is in line behind me (again all of the hair on my neck and arms jumps on end) I get to the bedroom you can plainly hear a baby crying in the room. as I touch the door handel it stops.
I did some checking and some people claimed a baby had died in the house and we had been the first family since it had happened to live there. After that incedent we didn't have any more problems though. it was very freaky...
I recently had something even more terrifying... I had a episode of "Night Terrors"...

my wife has had one or two of those a week for about the past 5 yrs. Usually it happens when she is extremley tired and sleep depraved. It used to scare me to death. The first time she woke up hysterically screaming to the top of her lungs like she was being attacked and I just came out of a sound sleep swinging at whatever was supposed to be in the room. Nothing was there. She never woke up. Just layed back down like nothing happened.
Other times she starts screaming at me in the middle of the night to turn on the light in the bedroom so she can make sure nobody is there. Again, she has no recollection of this the next day. Scary.

I know no one is gonna believe this but I swear this is true. I dont do drugs..I dont have any mental hangups...this is the gods honest truth.
I live in Okinawa Japan and I had this apartment off base. I dont have kids..not married
I moved in and about two days after I move in im asleep one night and right behind my head on the wall it was like someone just punched the wall. Well, on the other side of that wall was the living room area...no pictures on it..nothing up against it. I get up and open the bedroom door...nothing there..just the blank wall. So I go back to bed...five minutes later..bang...same thing. I get up but im not freaked im pissed because I gotta work the next morning.
Well..I lay down and doze off and i wake up and remember looking at the clock..3:53 am...I hear kids..running around...in my apartment...back and forth giggling..tap tap tap little feet..giggling...sounds like little guys..3,4
I sit up in bed..im half asleep and im confused because what are kids doing in my apartment at 4 am?!
Open the bedroom door..silence..nothing...now im freaked..I just put on my uniform and go into work..three hours early.
Two weeks later I am asleep and I wake up...3:53 AM on the alarm clock..I layed there for a second...then right next to my face..AHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Not an evil laugh but a happy one..like someone had told a 4 year old a funny joke. I didnt move..i was froze..then nothin...I layed there frozen..my eyes were bugged out...one more peep and I would have jumped off the balcony in my underwear.
I wasnt dreaming..I was awake..I knew what the clock said..there is no way I could have slept through that laugh.
I lived there for quite a while ( I know im a glutton for punishment) but alot of wierd stuff happened there.
I got pulled in bed once...craziest feeling in the world...I could feel the hand..but it wasnt like it was there..it was not hot..not cold...like air..really strange...it just yanked me like a friggin rag doll...and gone. I am not a small person either (6ft 230lbs)
Banging on the counters..faucets coming on...all the stuff I used to hear people talking about and was like "yeah right freakshow"
Lots of weird stuff happened there.

When I was about 6 to the age of 16 I saw shadow figures in my house. I'd be watching TV, and you know how the screen goes black and you can see a reflection of everything, I would see black figures walk behind me, or leave the room(This would be early in the morning when my parents were at work or sleeping)
Probably the freakiest **** I've ever experienced.

the first time it happened was the scarriest. I actually thought someone was in the room by teh way she was screaming. I went from sound asleep to throwing punches in thin air in a second. My heart was pumping and she was already back asleep. NOw I just kind of raise up and say, "you're having a night terror, go back to sleep." Of course if somebody ever comes into the room and starts beating her up I will just assume she is having a night terror and not move.

A lady whom I respect a great deal, told me recently that these aren't actually ghosts -- that they are demons who like to toy with people.
I've heard this theory before. It lines up scripturally if you believe that to be truth.
But there is also a scriptural reference to the ghost of Samuel (or his mentor - I'd have to look it up) making an "appearance" to his apprentice if I recall. That would seem to indicate that perhaps there are genuine appearances rather than or in addition to counterfeits.
I know multiple people at work who are insistent they have had friendly encounters with ghosts at the same previous job site.
Myself, my most suspicious experience was while I was doing a book study of sorts on the topic 20 or so years ago. I had heard that delving into such study often stirs those spirits and perhaps it was. Or perhaps it was an overactive imagination stemming from giving the topic so much focus.
Simply put, I was lying in bed in the early hours of the morning when out of the blue I felt an overwhelming sense of an unfriendly presence that proceeded through the front door and rushed like the wind into my bedroom to stand over me. I recall at that time feeling certain it was real. I was absolutely frozen in bed, didn't look, didn't move a muscle until that awareness went away. I honestly don't know if that was real or imagined.
My sister had a ghostly visitor make an visual appearance multiple times in a duplex she and her husband were renting, again years ago.
My eldest daughter, probably 2-3 or so at the time, said she saw angels walk by her bedroom door with suitcases in hand in the middle of the night.
In both of the last two situations the rooms & houses were prayed over and annointed with oil at the doorposts and the visitations ceased.

Good stuff, CoCo.
I believe in angels and also believe the Holy Spirit routinely impacts our lives in many forms. And the lady I mentioned said that prayer and a strong rebuke of the demons or ghosts will force them away.

I believe in the spiritual as well, both good & evil. We can debate the authenticity of any of the occurences listed here or elsewhere. But it doesn't really change my belief.
I suspect there are occurences we believe to be spiritual that really aren't. I also suspect there are spiritual occurences we are totally unaware of.

I had an occassion back in late June of 1979 in Tacoma, Wa.
As I went to get into my old car, I heard an eerie voice say "You're gonna die tonight." It was night time, probably around ten pm., but when I heard that voice, I looked up and down the street to see if someone was playing a prank on me, I looked all around my car, under the car, in the car. NOthing.
So, I got into the car and started to drive down the highway. I was up to about 60 mph or so when I lost my drivers side tire. I heard something evil in the back seat laugh about it and then I realized that the car was not slowing down, but was heading for the wall of an overpass. I started yelling !
save me! I could see an angel coming straight through the roof of my old car that wasn't a convertable and then I felt a struggle in the back seat going on, then the struggle was over, the angel sat next to me and said, "Let go of the steering wheel." I did and God through the angel moved my car over to the side of the road safely. phew.
Never found my tire...
