He showed more passion in this speech than I have seen in the past from him .... he did not seem to be reading off a teleprompter.
He seemed genuine about his beliefs ....... seemed much more pro America than in the past.
Obviously he is a wonderful speaker when he is not speaking off the cuff.
Basically he just came across as a man who truly wants to help the U.S. people.
He still seems to have no clue how he will accomplish any of it. And he reconfirmed his bleeding heart socialist plans.
But all in all I think he is a good man with very dangerous ideas on how "his America" needs to be.

Obviously it was all just him being well coached for this moment.
I am just acknowledging that he took advantage of it and scored.
If McCain underestimates this guy ...... he could easily lose.

If McCain can add an equal polish to the t*** to which Bush & Co have reduced the Republican Party - McCain will go go down as one of the greatest campaigners the US has ever seen.
But I'm not betting on that happening.

In my experience, people who attend any political convention (Republican or Democrat) have a cultish appearance.
Honestly, I'm baffled by the all the crying and excessive displays of emotions at these functions. No matter who's delivering the speech, conventions are solely about salesmanship with very little substance. I watch them solely for purposes of their historical and rhetorical significance.

I thought it was pretty good. Having heard a bunch of his speeches, it was a decent mix of his usual stump speech, but dressed up and some of the soaring rhetoric that he's known for towards the end.
I thought he gave a few nice jabs towards McCain and it'll be in the news for a few hours until McCain announces his running mate. So, I dunno how effective it'll all be in the end.

Palin is a really good choice, I was shocked when I saw it earlier today. The McCain/Palin ticket is very attractive and I could see a number of scenarios where it would get my vote. This has been an interesting election cycle, that's for sure. This entirely erases any bump Obama was going to get from his speech on Thursday night.

I didn't mean to imply that she wasn't pretty. A few days ago, another poster remarked on a slight resemblance between Ken Hamlin and Michelle Obama. I found the remark amusing because I, too, noticed the likeness.
A few years ago, I worked alongside a woman who I thought was attractive--an opinion that I shared with a male coworker one day. He replied that the woman in question looked like Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns. When I looked at her again, I had to admit that the likeness was there. She was still pretty, though.

Yes, some of the less fortunate posters do take it rather personally. But the rest of us know it's just politics as usual and it's sometimes a dirty game--not to be taken personally.
I bet you only do that online.

I liked the speech and his platform. I am extremely confused that, if he feels this way, why did he parade around the who's who of democrat, old guard socialists? Why did he chose an old, angry socialist to be his running mate if he wants tax cuts and wants respectful dialogue with his opponents. He preaches change and chooses a running mate who embodies what is wrong with politics today.
