Just asking, but with everyone focused on other news today, is the McCain camp trying to dump a lot of negative Palin news? Here's an exclusive from the Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody (http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/436411.aspx):

"Sources close to Sarah Palin tell The Brody File that the husband of the GOP Vice-presidential choice, Todd Palin, was arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence of alcohol back in 1986. He was 22 years old at the time. He was driving in a truck with some friends in the small southwestern Alaska town of Dillingham when he was pulled over for the DUI. As is customary, he was taken to jail briefly. Sarah and Todd Palin were high school sweethearts so they were dating at the time. The Brody File can also report that there was no accident or injuries."
"Sources close to Sarah Palin also tell The Brody File that Todd Palin has been 'forthcoming about the situation and has indicated that it was a lesson learned from when he was younger.'"

If these are the only kinds of stories that the lefties can come up with about Sarah Palin, McCain/Palin will be in the White House very soon.

However I will say this...I have a problem with DUI people.

Now her daughter's pregnancy, I've seen everywhere.

All over sources like the Christian Broadcasting Network. Read it yourself -- the initial story generated from an EXCLUSIVE report from CBN.

I listened in NPR all day as I worked -- didn't hear a single news story on this despite it being such a "liberal" news source. I just watched about a hour of MSNBC. Didn't hear about it there either.

Funny, i watched MSNBC this afternoon and not only did they talk about the prego daughter and the DUI but they said Palin has hired a lawyer for the "investigation" she sought to have here brother-in-law fired amid a nasty custody battle with here sis.

I knew about it two days ago and ive never heard of CBN until now. "Air America" knew about it, and so did "ABC news", "CBSnews" and "Foxnews"(not exactly overly lib news source i know lol).

That source might have broke it, but they arent the only ones reporting it. It's not huge news right now anyway. It has definitely been trumped since by other stories, but it was reported is all im saying.

anyway, perhaps i misunderstood you. Were you simply saying they broke it?

I didn't say I watched it all day. My point was this isn't ONLY being pushed by liberal media -- story came from CBN.

To me, the only real issue here is the investigation as it speaks potentially to professional ethics.

I agree for what it's worth. The DUI and prego daughter shouldn't hurt her or shock anyone. They are/were mistakes, no big deal, but if she did try and get the bro fired, Katy bar the door.

but if she did try and get the bro fired, Katy bar the door.

I doubt that will be a big deal either when it comes out what kind of guy the cop was, and the threats that came from him including threatening to "give a bullet" to the governor's father over speakerphone with her teenage son listening, and that her sister had to take out quite a few protective orders against him for other threats...but I digress

personally, It would score points with me if it's true that she tried to get him off of the state police force. Im sick of cops abusing their power and being protected and allowed to get away with anything. It's not like she fired a teacher or "abused her executive power" for financial or political gain.

She did it for family reasons. For that reason I doubt the dems would get much mileage out of it. Of course it will get play, but they will probably be extra sensitive with it to try to avoid seeming like they are defending a bad cop. I think many American people know stuff like that happens in politics, and often for worst reasons than this. I doubt it will be good dirt for the dems.

Yeah, wasn't' Bush's DUI about the same time? AND that was so CONVIENENTLY put out by a Dem Shill the FRIDAY before the election.

Don't worry dems. My finger is more on the pulse of this investigation than anything. The only thing they have so far is that one of her staffers took it upon himself to call and insinuate some things about the officer. That staffer has since been kicked home by her.

That conversation was recorded and they have some nothing e-mail from what I hear.

I am certain Sarah will be just fine. Remember, she launched her own inviestigation into all of this mess BEFORE folks in the legistlature even got around to talking about it.

Hey look. A canadian in an American political thread. Why?

Aren't there some awesome Canadian gov forums all across the interweb?

Seriously CC...you never answered me when I asked why you feel the need to wade into American politics like you are a nationalized citizen of the US? It seems a bit odd. You are so full of snipes and belittlement, that I would think you would get bored of doing it. But you continue.

Funny really...

Did we get a tally of how many CBZ members are beating down the doors of Kanook boards? No? Does anyone know?

As you no doubt love to say, the US is number one and what happens in the US affects everyone on the planet so needless to say, who is elected president will have an affect on Canada, therefore, the overall issues are important even the specific topic is some fisherman's drunk driving charge which has no real bearing on anything.

Now I hope next time you come up here to do business, you are treated better than you treat me. However, just in case, I will put in a word with customs to make sure the guy giving you a full body cavity search is really cute.

Point is ALL the mainstream media were on it - as you admit FoxNews and as I pointed out CBN. Clearly not only those so-called liberal media outlets.

And, frankly, your "liberal media" meme falls on deaf ears here - there are liberal sources and there are conservative outlets. But what all media like more than anything are candidates who give good story. Those in the media are whores. They like stories that sell, all other agenda are secondary.

I want to be clear, I'm not saying she did. But that is a reasonable story to follow - especially since this investigation pre-dates her selection as VP candidate.

Frankly the other stuff is getting covered b/c finally there are stories about Republicans that the general public will have interest in. That's really not about the "media" but about those people who consume the media.

Maybe because like so many other people around the world he is interested in american politics because the actions of our government and economy affect his country.
I always found it funny that my countrymen who are custodians of the most powerful nation both militarily and economically in the world are some of the most insular. What a contradiction..to have a government so invasive in foreign affairs and a public so profoundly voluntary in their isolation...astounding place I come from. If I wasnt from there...I would be fascinated by America and its political system.

I agree it is a reasonable story to follow and a responsible journalistic organization would be more than remiss if it didn't dig out whatever is there.

That said, from what I know of it so far, the entire thing will redound to the governor's credit, even though it is small potatoes in the world of scandal accusations.

I think one thing that people need to recognize is that we aren't really seeing the DUI story reported much on its own -- only as part of general stories about Palin and the various controversies that are hounding her. So what we are talking about from most outlets is a line or two as part of a larger story rather than as an independent story with legs of its own.
