If she were a Democrat... the media would be bending over backwards to defend her and call all of her political opponents "sexist."

It's funny, all the things he's making fun of her for in the article are all things the Democrats and the media have already lobbed at her (maybe excepting the NASCAR/hockey thing).

So basically the cartoonist is just saying that Republicans would be making the same accusations towards her that the liberals already are? I don't really get the satire here, then. Is he criticizing the Republicans here or is he criticizing the attacks the Democrats have leveled at her?

Yep...the repubs would be doing the same thing the dems would be doing.

Heck both parties have proved they will use the same exact arguments for or against depending on who they are going after or defending.

Remember Bill Clinton the republicans said that you can support the troops without supporting the President and the Dems said oh no you can't.

Years later the Dems say you can support the troops without supporting the President...the repubs say oh no you can't.

Same thing, just switched around.

Two party system sucks and what sucks more is how many eat that dog crap up.
