Hey guys,
Every time I reboot my computer I encounter a problem. It goes like this...
1. No System Beeps
2. Video is displayed, memory test.
3. Blank screen except for a blinking " _ "
4. That's it.
The only "solution" which is not even a solution is turning off my PC, waiting 3+ minutes (anything less and the above happens) and the powering back up.
I am running:
Microsoft XP Pro
Service Pack 3
1 Gig of RAM
AMD Athlon
Radeon Video Card (X800 Pro) I believe
Thanks for any help guys.

Could be over heating, get a can of compressed air and blow out all the dust around the fans and CPU.
If that doesnt work, try taking all memory and video cards etc out. Put back just the essentials like the memory(one stick at a time) and video cards. Try booting up each time you add a new component. This helps to track down any faulty components. It also helps if it's just a case of some memory or cards not being fully seated.

good call. when they run fine "for awhile" and then start just shutting off or rebooting, it's usually heat and/or power supply acting up. if it was a seating problem it would power back up ok usually and just reboot again at random.

Better yet, take the side off the case and vacuum it out.

Preferably not while it's running.
I like to use a combo of compressed air and a handheld vacuum to get mine clean.

Also could be you need a firmware update for your Bios
generally if it is heat related it will power down automatically and give you beep codes
So firmware or video card are the most likely culprit
