So if we lose tonight...will we hear JJ telling the media that we will be evaluating the QB play over the next 24 hrs? I think we all know that if we have any kind of statistical chance at playoffs BP will NEVER go to Drew, but at what point will JJ step in? Seriously, he was leaning that direction after last game, but BP put a stop to that. BUT...for how long.

With Baltimore up next week, it won't be after tonite's game regardless of how it goes.

And Chicago is a light weight? Time to take off the kid gloves. PUT IN DREW!

Jerry has all the juice.
He will consult BP but ultimately, when Jerry says put him in, he'll get put in. Im not under any illusions that BP is running anything except his jaws.

I think if Dallas can win 2 out of the next 3 that Vinny will continue to play. If Dallas fails to do that then I think we will see Henson but I do not think we will see that happen until Thanksgiving or the week after depending on what takes place over the next 3 games.

Because no matter what happens tonight I do not think Parcells will conceed the season. I really think if he makes any changes it will happen after or on Thanksgiving. He has talked before about Thanksgiving as a bench mark time to see where we are standing wise and if that is the case and I do agree with him that will be the time that we will make these types of changes that is if we lose 2 out of the next 3, however if Dallas were to win 2 out of the next 3 then any type of change will not happen because at that stage we will still be in the running for at least a Wildcard.

Lose the babywipes and pacifier, BP, put Drew in!
I just don't get this at all...I think our best chance is with him in, not with Vinny. We are dead in the water and we need something to give us life. If it isn't working...FIX IT! I swear, BP is completely backwards on this whole d*mn thing. If it's not broken, then you don't fix it, but it is broken, so what do we do...nothing. Just like last offseason. A pattern developing here?

What if it is not Vinny that is broken? Vinny deserves his fair share of abuse but Vinny is not the one that is having trouble cover WR, Vinny is not the one who has struggled to stop the running backs or as far as that goes Vinny is not the reason why we have had trouble running the ball. Vinny for the most part has done a decent job and while putting Henson in the game may please some fans if he is not ready to be thrown into the fire what good does it do this team. Again I'm not looking to keep Vinny off the hook but if Parcells feels Vinny still gives us the best chance at the QB position and that appears to be the case then so be it.

I've seen the Ravens a few times this yr, they arnt the 85 Bears or the Fearsome Foursome or anything...they have some good players, but they arnt a dominating or overwhelming defense either

I agree after watching yesterdays game between the Jets and the Ravens I was not impressed by the Ravens defense as a dominate defense. Curtis Martin was having his way for most of the day running right up the gut and Ray Lewis.

Nice post...even though it does not fit the current mantra of some fans.

I'm not sure if or when we will see Henson this season, but for those who say start Henson on Thanksgiving b/c it's the Bears - I completely disagree.
They may not be the Eagles or Ravens, but the Bears are a very good defensive football team and will give the Cowboys fits w/their zone-blitz schemes.
I do a agree, however, with the notion that if Henson is going to play then get him in there as soon as possible. The problem, has as been pointed out here, is w/the weakness of the NFC, the Cowboys are not out of the playoff race and as long as the playoffs are a possibility Henson will not see the field - barring injury.

For me personally you hit the nail on the head...it's not because of Vinnie's play I want Drew...it's because we have so many brokens that we are not going anywhere this year (and Vinnie is not the future...he's 41). For those that wnat to be really optomistic...please stop reading...I'm being REAL. It's time to evaluate what we have in real game situations...then we can hit FA and the draft with what we need. I'm not giving up on our players and team...I am conceeding that we will not make the playoffs and we need to see what we have. Waiting for next year in TC and pre-season does not give us what we need to see. For those of you with asperations of a playoff birth this year...good luck and keep rooting. I'm in it for the long haul!

I'm all for being real just like the Packer fans were being real after starting 1-4 on the season, well that changed and yes in this league today things can change in a hurry. If you have written off the season I can understand the reason why but quite frankly I never really care if fans give up or not I only care that this ball club does not give up. I respect your opinion but I'm a Cowboys fan not a Portland Fanatic fan so weather you give up or not really means nothing to me. Parcells has not given up on this season and as long as that is the case Vinny will continue to play and I as a fan feel he is right. Please do not take this as an attack on yourself, I understand the frustration of the season but it is not in me to quit, not when I was playing and not today as a fan and I expect nothing less from the Cowboys.

I would not use the words quit...putting in Henson does not mean the season is over...however, he will struggle as a normal rookie would...just rather him do it this year while gaining experience. I understand your point of view...and do not knock it. Just willing to hedge the future. I think you understand what I mean.

It is giving up when the coach feels he is not ready to take over. We do not get to see Henson during the week Parcells does and if he feels Henson is not the best option at this stage then who should I believe a fan who does not see what is going on day in and day out or a coach who has been in the coaching ranks for 40 years? To me that is easy I go by what the man who has done this for a living and done so very well. Believe me I was extreamly excited to get Henson and think he will be a top QB for us but as I said when we signed him he will play when the staff (Parcells) feels he is ready and not before that time, I do not think you allow frustration to over-ride what I feel is good judgement on the part of the Cowboys and the future of Drew Henson.

I'm not a big believer in shielding Henson...
I listened to Tom Coughlin tonight, a Parcells disciple...
He is starting Manning behind a line about which Couglin said "I can't even pass protect for a three step drop" He also blamed only ONE sack on Warner...and his team has a legit playoff shot, not some pipe dream as we do...He said he felt that penalties were more the reason for the team's struggles, not the play of Warner, who's rating is a bit higher than Vinny's.
Yet Manning is going in against the blitz happy Falcons, 30 sacks...and the Eagles next week..
Whether or not it's the smart move, who knows? But don't simply discount starting Henson as if it's a crazy idea. Yep, Manning is a number one pick who has been active....but, he's still a green rookie. Period. No matter how you slice it, the NFL is the next level and what you did in college doesnt matter any more.
SO just thought I'd add this to the discussion

It also helps that Manning has played in the last couple of years as well. But even if that were not the case this is not monkey see monkey do, Couglin is making a call he sees as the best move at this stage and I have no doubt some is based on how Manning is doing in practice and his understanding of the offense they are running. If we were seeing where Henson is at this stage at least this debate could be talked about based on facts but the truth is no one here at this site or in the media know where Henson is in learning

I'm not suggesting that it is a case of "because Coughlin did it so should we"...my post was more about the MANNER in which people dispute things..the point is, if a respected pro coach is willing to pull a vet in order to start a rookie, during a playoff run, against two aggressive defenses..then people shouldn't simply reject the discussion as having no merit...
Couglin has done it...are some of the circumstances different? Sure. But Couglin didn't say "NO chance for Manning to play while we still have a have a chance to make the playoffs"...or call the press "stupid" for asking the question.
AND don't forget, the only insight we got into how Henson is performing is a positive insight...he was moved up the depth chart

Henson has been signed and studying our offense since March.
Manning is 2 months or more behind him on his offense. I believe 3 because I think he signed in June.
That is an advantage.
