It is simply unrealistic to believe that we can conduct opperations in that area of the world, like we have done in Iraq or in many other places. That area of the world is very mountaines. The terrain is trecherous, to put it mildly. I am not saying that it is not necessary to focus more troops on Afghanistan but it is not a very sound strategy to believe that the troubles in Afghanistan can be solved with full scale troop opperations as has been the case with Iraq. SF units and specially trained Mountain terrain units can be employeed but conventional units are not very realistic.

I also disagree with Obama and his view that Iraq should not have been invaded and conventional resources should have been focused on Afghanistan but thats probably a different discussion.
