I agree that she sounds nervous... she needs to relax. Easier said than done, I suppose. Biden sounds relaxed to me.

Correction, extremely good answer. I don't know how deep her knowledge goes on foreign policy, but that answer was rock solid. Also good on how she jumped right in on the follow up question.

I see you are the same on this forum as you are in the football one.

He looks like to me, he is just trying to remain level and calm. It looked like he wants to avoid personal insults like that. He has been more complimentary to her.

Its funny how the people in here who will vote for palin act like she is right on every issue!!

No one on this board except for maybe two people are voting for obama and I dont think they are in here, if they were I am sure they would say he is winning.

That is the point. These debates are a waste of time. Everyone has a slanted look at each person before they turn on the tv.

And I find it absolutely hillarious that mcain and palin act like they dont have to answer for anything bush has done, I mean its their party. Its comical to me that she just shruggs off the last 8 years like your not able to comment on it.

Absolutely she's qualified. She's 35+, born in the US, and she's lived in the US for 14 years.

Just kidding.

You know, I laugh when folks talk about "experience".

Experience in what?

I'm not sure "Washington" experience is what's needed. We've been so partisan the last 20 or so years.....It's not going to change if we keep electing these hacks.

When I watch these debates, I seldom come away thinking any candidate has scored any type of victory or suffered any type of loss (with the notable exception of Bush's first debate against Kerry when Bush repeated the line "it's hard work" about 1 million times; of course, Bush's loss was more his own fault than Kerry's doing). Both candidates normally make good points, and both normally flounder in certain areas.

I can only answer the win/loss question by gauging the reaction of people on both ends of the political spectrum, and I must say, on this board tonight, the Palin supporters seem elated while the Biden supporters seem a trifle flustered.

Consequently, judging solely by the reaction on this board, I'm inclined to think Palin has performed better than Biden.

I think M&P would push for it alot more, but the only people who can bring true reform to our government are the one's going to the polls every November. Unless people wake up and quit doing the same 'ol same 'ol, nothing will ever change.

It's so obvious that the people in office dont give a flying crap about what really happens, all they care about is conitnuing to get their free ride in DC.

She just went after the moderator a little bit. Might have been a little bit early for that.

A preemptive strike that wasn't really called for at that point or afterward.

She didn't go back to it, and it was pretty minor.

At the time I thought it might be a sign of things to come, but it wasn't.

well there is her first east coast comment.

Her whole persona is culture war personified but she pulls it off with sweetness and good humor.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I apologize, but I am not plugged into the political infighting. I avoid it like the plague.

I was referring to the whole BO "I agree with JM" thing in the first debate. Surely you are aware of that?

If not. my bad.

Larry Kudlow feels Sarah Palin did enough and won the debate because it was at least a tie.

David Gergen feels Joe Biden did an excellent job and showed a more human side.

I cant see how this debate could sway anyone to vote for or against either candidate.

And with the electoral map narrowing for McCain you have to say the debate outcome favors the Obama camp.

I do think it will stop the questions about Palin's intelligence and political savvy, however, despite the fact that she was more style than substance.

I think it will be partisan...

Neither won... they both did well...

Definitely no clear winner...

Let the MSM weigh in...

Yep, they both showed well and in the end i doubt this has much affect on 11-4.

Am I crazy to think she's dominating this debate?

Yes, it was a draw overall.

But if you judge according to who actually responded to the questions posed and who demonstrated greater mastery of policy detail, I think you have to give the nod to Biden.

Paline laid the obama campaigns try at discrediting her to rest and that was very important. So from that point of view she won.

Agreed but Biden avoided making major mistakes and reaffirmed his superior command of policy details, therefore, I score it a draw.

It's not a game changer which is bad for McCain.

Actualy it could be a game changer with all the effort obama has put into trying to knock her off. Now they have to come up with a new game plan and that is risky.

Thats the thing...

What they were doing was starting to work with those leaning towards McCain... I think she stopped that trend and possibly reversed it tonight. The enthusiasm towards her being on the ticket is definitely back.

Who is Paline?

And even conservatives have agreed that she has not looked great in her interviews.

She did wonderful, but I doubt she makes a dramatic impact on the outcome of the election.

Fox News - 86% Palin, 12% Biden
MSNBC - 53% Biden, 37% Palin
CBS - 46% Biden, 21% Palin

Not really, they just need to keep hammering away on the economy and McCain as a continuation of the Bush administration. Palin isn't the central front of this battle but a secondary one.

I don't think we'll ever know the debate's impact on the polls (if they mean anything anyway) because tomorrow's events and what happens with our economy thereafter will have a much bigger impact on the election imo.

I disagree and think it's the surest way to victory. The polls appear to bear this out as does the McCain campaign's decision to adopt the mantle of change for itself and emphasize the ticket's maverick image. Notice that Palin essentially threw the administration under the bus tonight when talking about blunders.

The thing I will say...

Fox had a pollster Frank Luntz on after the debate. He had a group of completely independent people. Everyone in the group agreed that Palin won the debate.

And before someone cries bias... His other independent group thought Obama won the last debate.

Great Job by Sarah. Biden wasn't as horrible as I thought he'd be, but she kicked his *** a few times tonight, and she got stronger as she went along.

I only wish there had been a point where she could have said, "Joe, there is one thing we agree on. Hillary Clinton WOULD have been a better choice for Vice President than you."

And all McCain has to do is talk about how much the goverment is going to be spending with an economy on the brink of a serious recession if you get an Obama Presidency and a Democratically controlled Congress  .

I'm an independent and the thought of that is kind of scary.

She called him on the negatives that he pointed out about Obama in the primaries and then said "its different for you now"

Tax cuts would produce jobs.....take it from someone that owns a business. I could employee another 10-15 people at $20 an hour a piece, if taxes on my business were cut in half.
