From what I saw, she did very well.

She did her job...

I thought she did well.

Reading on the conservative blogs, the one complaint I saw was that she almost always gave Biden "the last word."

I didn't notice myself, but I guess that's something.

maybe she was smart enough to realize that she had to be very careful with all the prior speculation....

Outstanding job, she actually did not interfere with debate...

The only thing I noticed was the question about some Senate or Congress bill about making it harder for mortgage-lenders to declare bankruptcy... WHAT?

That was obviously an easier question for Biden seeing how he had to vote on it...

Maybe its just me but I thought that could be seen as unfair.

Other than that I thought she was completely fair.

She is what she is, a true pro.

Leading up to this evening. She was irresponsible, and unprofessional.

Tonight she wasn't biased toward Biden.....she was careful.

Are you talking about Gwen, or Plaxico Burress?

Never heard of her until the multiple "oh no, not her threads."

I was impressed. Very professional. Totally non partisan.

Gwen Ifill was great - she was superior to the intrusive Jim Lehrer who sought to direct the debate to the point he seemed to fuss over the candidates direct interaction.

Gwen was firing questions at a pace that drove the debate at a fair clip yet were leading enough to allow her and us to kick back and enjoy the unforced flow between Palin and Biden. There were long stretches where I even forgot that she was there.

Now THAT'S the mark of a good moderator.

Awesome job by Gwen Ifill.

My only complaint with Ifill is that she didn't seem to care whether the question was answered or not.

Maybe she just understood that these are politicians.

True. :) I really have no complaints other than that and really, like you said, that's just politicians being politicians. She asked the questions and got out of the way. I guess that's all we can really ask.

There was one point early on when she said, "Governor, Senator, neither of you really answered that last question about what you would do as vice president. I'm going to come back to that..."

She was good, when I first turned the debate on I thought the question she was on was being a bit unfair towards Palin, but as I was watching it she eithe rmoved back to the center or I wasn't so negative toward her. All in all I think she did a great job and was very professional.

Shocked. You mean Malkin was wrong about her?

My only complaint with Ifill is that she didn't seem to care whether the question was answered or not.
She was on the Tom Joyner show this morning and she noted that there were instances where she knew they didn't really answer the question.

It was kind of a bull-session between her and the radio personalities. They were trying to get her to say something bad about all the brouhaha and Palin. She didn't take the bait.

She said that the book was no secret. At this point in the election, the candidates were trying to use anything they could to get an edge. Said she'd received alot of support from colleagues in the biz in response, including Reagan's son.

Said the book being pro-Obama was news to her and her publisher as she hadn't even started writing about him in the book. She listed off other black politicians that she'd started on, but that it was very unfinished.

They asked her if she felt like she didn't get to ask all of her questions. She said she was able to ask the majority of her questions, not necessarily in the order she had them listed. She said she allowed the candidates to dictate the flow, because people weren't there to hear her, they were there to hear what the candidates had to say.

She talked about her broke foot. I had just turned on the station at that point so missed that. But basically she fell. Said the highlight was being escorted by the young football players.

There may be a podcast or something later. If I find it, I'll post.

Well?

She is a political hack looking to cash in big time riding the Obama wave of socialism.

She was adequate during the debate.;)

I laughed when Palin ignored her question about her shortcomings, or something along this line....where she said Biden was known for being undisciplined...Palin did not want to answer the question, and she did not.

There were a number of questions that neither of them answered.

Biden had a ton as well.

She did a good job having said that I still feel she should have stepped down. Hell I would not want a season ticket holder of the redskins officiating a Cowboys game either regardless if he claimed to be professional and unbiased

The only problem with her that I perceived was it seemed quite a few times got in the last word without Palin being give a chance to respond
