I just love how Obama took jabs at McCain and then says.. "but you don't what to hear politicians point fingers at each other" --- nice way to get it in and then make the other guy look small if he retorts
And that was after McCain praised an Obama supporter

Are you even watching??? It was McCain who took the first jabs with the Fannie and Freddie comment. So he took his swings and then basically said stop the bull****. It was perfect.
Obama also gave a much better and more intricate answer with the first question then McCain did.

Obama said - Oversight for all the money that was lended out. Cut Taxes for the middle class. Fix the deregulation that is going on. I forget what else, there was something else.
McCain basically gave a bunch of rhetoric and then actually said that you have to fix home prices. So all he really said that he would do was fix home prices. The rest was just BS about the problem.

His best moments come when he's talking about soldiers or to former military. That's when he seems most genuine.
On the economy? I think he did alright. He basically never talks about the middle class. He always works his way back to pork barrell spending, which is important, I'm not saying it isn't, but in the grand scheme of things, that's really really small potatos by dollar standards. And what is with that extra bailout that he's proposing? I mean, the Obama campaign is for renegotiating these mortgages, but to add another 300 billion dollars buying up bad mortgages to the already 700 billion dollars in the first bailout? Seems a bit like overkill.
Demeanor wise, he was attempting to attack all night and I think he got some decent punches in, but I think he really hurt himself when he referred to Obama as "that one". I immediately noticed it and mentioned it to my fiance who had the same reaction. It was very dismissive and showed a lack of respect. I mean really, how difficult is it to just be respectful to your opponent?
This brings me back to the fact that his campaign is slinging mud and he won't even say it to Obama's face. At least be a man about it. If you're going to tear someone's character down, by all means, do it to his face. Don't hide when you're on the same stage with him. I'm no Hillary Clinton fan, but she at least didn't hide when the debates came around and DID go after Obama's associations during the final debate.
Obama:
I think Obama connects best when he's talking about the economy and the middle class.
I think Obama's health care answer of it being a right, which McCain said it was a responsiblity (he didn't mention who's responsibility it is), was a good moment. His health care plan is also much more fleshed out or at least expressed in much more fleshed out terms, at least to me.
I think Obama was flying high during the economic portion, but got bogged down in the Iraq mess again. It feels like a dead horse to me. Both candidates start arguing about the surge vs the judgement of going in in the first place. It's water under the bride. I'm somewhat tired of hearing about it in debates at the moment.

I wouldn't show Obama respect either, he doesn't deserve any. He's a crazy loon who is trying to destroy the economy and get more power. He has no business being there, or even being in Congress. The voting public need to remove his ilk from Washington forever.
best part imo was when McCain was talking about the legislation he co-sponsored two years ago warning that regulation was needed for Fannie Mae that they tried to get passed (but were blocked by Dems) and that Obama was not anywhere to be found on the legislation.
the next best part was when McCain mentioned the fact that financially Obama was the second largest benefactor from Fannie and Freddie in all of congress.

And don't let anybody make you think that God chose America as his divine, messianic force to be a sort of policeman of the whole world.
God has a way of standing before the nations with judgment, and it seems that I can hear God saying to America, "You're too arrogant! And if you don't change your ways, I will rise up and break the backbone of your power, and I'll place it in the hands of a nation that doesn't even know my name."

Virtually every contributor to Fox News (http://foxforum.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/10/07/debatewrap2_1007/) says Obama won the debate or that McCain didn't deliver what he needed to deliver. I don't see a single one claiming an overall victory for McCain. Must be a liberal trash rag.

He had a few weird moments. The "That One". No handshake....and then he couldn't get out of there fast enough. I thought Town Halls were his thing. I'm thinking he meant that Solo Town Halls were his thing.
Video of Obama staying after and chatting with the audience while McCain was long gone just was very interesting.

What are you talking about? McCain was there for awhile afterwards and just because Obama stuck around longer doesn't dictate that he didn't stick around long enough. So if McCain didn't offer a handshake, then what about Obama's? Did he stick his hand out and McCain slap it away?

Actually McCain and his wife were not there for a while afterwards.
If memory servers they left about 10:34 or 10:44 while Obama stayed over much longer. So it appears they left anywhere from 10-15 minutes after the debate and when I was switching channels they were still showing Obama and his wife there at 11:00 or so.

The handshake thing isn't that big of a deal. They shook hands immediately after the debate. It was just a weird moment. McCain tapped him on the shoulder and Obama extended his hand and McCain pointed at his wife instead of shaking and then Obama shook Cindy McCain's hand instead.

I thought McCain did a better job of communicating his views on Foreign Policy, although I thought both needed to tone down the rhetoric on Russia.
At first, I thought John McCain did a better job of pointing to very specific examples (ie voting records, specific examples of pork bills Obama voted for etc etc), but towards the end, Barack Obama eventually pointed to specifics as well.
But overall, I thought John McCain came off very agitated, looked uncomfortable walking around the room and had some strange moments such as telling Tom Brokaw that he wouldn't be a nominee for Treasury Sec., condescendingly assuming the guy in the audience that asked a question hadn't heard of Fannie/Freddie before this crisis, stepping in front of the camera at the end of the debate and in the following clip (McCain refuses to shake Obama's hand) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI0iIOqPGak) showing outright disdain for Barack Obama by not refusing to shake his hand, instead directing him to his wife. I like some of John McCain's views about the world at large, but this guy's temperment makes me nervous as a mofo.
Barack Obama seemed to totally lose his train of thought when trying to make a point at times and you could tell he wasn't as knowledgable about the world than John McCain. Also, another annoying thing about Barack Obama is that he doesn't seem to get into specifics.
Also, since John McCain and The Baracuda has been making a such a strong case that Barack Obama is a terrorists, anti-american and a muslim, I thought John McCain was kind of a coward not to at least mention this in at least one of his rebuttals. If McCain truely thinks this guy is all the aforementioned and dangerous, he should have the balls to do the dirty work himself and tell Americans on national tv about it. But I suspect John McCain doesn't even belive those things and that is why he has Sarah Palin doing the dirty work for him.

Not to get too technical, but African is an ethnic definition and provides a bit of knowledge of your ancestry. Being an American is about citizenship.
I'm an African-American. That's how I identify myself. How you choose to refer to yourself is up to you, but I know of no ethnicity called Black. I go back and forth when referring to black people as African-Americans, but it's more about convenience than anything else.
If white people, caucasians, would like to be referred to as European Americans, it wouldn't bother me a bit.
Back to topic, I don't think McCain was being racist about the lack of handshake, but it was definitely disrespectful. It bothers me because if you look at the larger picture, can McCain keep his composure and maintain his disdain for foreign leaders when trying to negotiate new policy.

I know its about your ancestry and stuff however it's something I really have a hard to thinking about. My family is about five generations removed from being Africa and we don't know where we come from in Africa like most blacks in America however this is where I m from. This is what I relate to the most and I really don't have any ties to the country besides my ancestors. Even people that are born in Africa don't say they are African American they tend to say what country they are from. Not a lot of people view this the way I do and a lot of them will say actually what you said. However if you're going to classify me as African American even though I'm not from them nor is my mother or her mother and so on. I'm sorry... I missed it. Did Obama answer the question about SS and Medicare? I heard him go back and talk about the tax question that he was denied a second response to
This was the worst part of the debate for both. Obama on SS = we need to look at where our revenue comes from ( uh, taxpayers?). McCain on Medicare = we need to get some smart people in a room, come up with an idea, and vote on it! ( )

Yeah that makes sense however IDK what goes on in that town I live in I just moved there and I didn't get the address changed on my license yet so IDK how thats going to work out......this is my first time voting also.
There was a deadline to register to vote. So if you haven't done that, that might be an issue.
However, if you want to know what elections are going on in your community, I think you should go to your local county building to the county clerk's office and see if they can help you get your voting issues taken care of. You can also check to see if they have a website. I know my local county clerk has a website with a link to a really good informational website on the election process for my county.

Anytime.
Also check your local media outlets websites, too. I'm sure they have Election pages on them. They may have a list of all the elections going on with information about the candidates.
Good luck and don't sit out the process.
