View Full Version : Hey . . . if it works for Roy . . .

Roy Williams is one of the many Cowboys defenders that hasn't done jack s*** this year . . .

But God forbid you criticize him, because his legions of fans blinded by loyalty will throw out the "he's playing out of position" excuse.

Well . . . if that absolves Roy Lee from guilt . . .

Then it also absolves Marcellus Wiley.

Hey . . . Wiley has been a LDE his whole career.

Those tyrants in Dallas have him playing RDE this year.

We simply can not judge him yet.

Wiley played in HIS position in SD, but his play declined for two years straight. Roy's got a ways to go, in my opinion, before he could be compared to Wiley.

With that being said, I think Roy needs to get his camcorder out on Sunday, isolate Ed Reed on video, and then take some notes!!! :D

There may be something to the out of position thing. Isn't it possible that some underlying problems why things aren't working out that you aren't aware of? I dunno.....it's possible.

During Roy's first year in the league, I don't recall a single time when he hit somebody they didn't go backwards. Totally unbelieveable.

But now, I see him taking bad angles and missing tackles.

My only conclusion would be that he is seriously playing out of position or the hits are taking their toll on him.

I'd like to see what Roy can do with talent around him. But I think we saw a glimpse of that in the pro bowl when some receiver (I can't remember his name) was upset because Roy was playing the game as if it was ... serious.

How the hell someone could be against Roy is beyond me. Do insane clinic patients have accent to Cowboyszone.com?

Going by that theory mid, it seems Tony Dixon is "playing out of position" also.

I'm sure he'll do much better next year, when he's flat on his back, changing oil and Jiffy Lube.

There’s a big difference between what Roy is having to do out there and what Wiley is doing out there.

Roy has to help out on coverage with the rookie CB’s AND help out with Tony Dixon’s coverage gaffe’s AND help stop the run because the play of guys, such as Wiley, is so bad that teams can run at us with ease.

Watch opposing teams. Most of their big runs are right at Wiley.

All Wiley has to do is two things, play against the run and rush the passer. He hasn’t done either of them and hasn’t even had one “okay” game, yet. At least Roy looked great against the Skins and the Lions and has looked pretty decent against others.

He got burnt on a coverage gaffe against the Eagles, but that was in his attempt to help out Dixon who was getting picked apart by the Eagles before that.

Comparing Roy to Wiley in any fashion is blatantly ridiculous.

Rich………….

Cool . . .

But how do you measure that "intense passion"?

Because you certainly can't measure it in forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, interceptions, tackles for loss, pass deflections, or interceptions.

And was that the "intense passion" we saw on display when Owens burned Roy and got a touchdown, then mocked us on the little star as Roy Williams turned his back and walked away?

If it wasn't then . . . then it had to be when Roy whiffed on TO during TO's first touchdown catch.

Hopefully Kelly Rowland isn't being subjected to the same "intense passion" in the bedroom as we are seeing on the football field.

Otherwise . . . we might see Roy doing a few Lavitra commercials . . .

How the hell someone could be against Roy is beyond me. Do insane clinic patients have accent to Cowboyszone.com?

I can't answer whether or not insane clinic patients have "accent" to Cowboyszone.com. Better PM a mod to answer that.

However . . . in reference to how anyone can criticize Roy: It's simple . . . take the blue and silver glasses off . . . stop being a homer . . . and realize ROY WILLIAMS HAS ZERO INTERCEPTIONS, ZERO FORCED FUMBLES, ZERO FUMBLE RECOVERIES, ZERO SACKS, ZERO PASS DEFLECTIONS, AND HAS BEEN OUTPERFORMED BY TONY DIXON THIS SEASON.

But hey . . . at least he's doing it "passionately".

I just go by what my eyes see. And i see a player that is flying to the ball, trying his best to make something good happen. This season hasn't been his best, but that goes also for the entire Cowboy Defense. Last time i checked this is a team sport not badminton.

If it wasn't then . . . then it had to be when Roy whiffed on TO during TO's first touchdown catch.

Roy is trying to do too much. I guess you have never worked with a new employee and have to help them do their job plus yours? Before you know it you are having trouble just doing your job. Common sense man. That plus Roy's strengths are not in deep coverage. We all knew that before this season.

Haha, love it. Never been accused of wearing blue and silver glasses before. I would rather keep them on than act like i have a corn cob up my a$$.

I understand that this is football and not life and death and that Roy is a pretty good player despite the horrible stats the COWBOYS (note: team sport) have this season (note: only 1 season).

Wow. Whatever crediablity you had is gone after that remark!

I posted this on another board and will just put it here too...

Almost in defiance of this sat Cowboys receiver Keyshawn Johnson. Slumped deep in his locker, his forehead practically glued to his hand, his frustration etched on his face, Johnson did what the offensive and defensive captains and the newly anointed "face of the Cowboys" Roy Williams, did not. He tried to answer the unanswerable questions that are stalking this struggling team.

http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/football/nfl/dallas_cowboys/10203256.htm

I dont know about some of you, I am starting to get sick of Roy Williams in general. I remember when he first arrived, he was self confident and displayed leadership qualities. He even told Emmitt to watch what he says and backed that talk up.

Now, he seems to have mellowed out. An Eagles fan posted an ESPN Q&A he did recently and when asked if he would retaliate if Owens were to disrespect the star, he said he would not do anything because they were friends.

The "infamous" note left he left in the lockeroom last week...

My attitude towards him in general is really starting to change...

"The face of the Cowboys"....

I'll take Dat Nguyen thank you very much!!!

Yeah.....I did mean what I said.

Im kind of tired of hearing about how good of friends he is with Portis and Owens and how he talks to them on the phone, just before the games.

Most of the Cowboys fans that attended the game Monday, like myself, were really embarrased that nobody even got in Owens face or just show some sign of pride or at least some attempt to show Owens that he doesn't disrespect Landry's house.

Hell, when the Eagles players formed a huddle on the Star on the 50 yard line just before kickoff, Jerry Jones showed more guts and defiance by having security get them off the star.

When Owens stood on the little star...um this was the second time he did that, he did that a few years ago too. Now how in the hell do you try to enforce players of the other team not to stand on parts of the endzone and field?

You kidding me?

This isn't 5th grade.

If we didn't want him standing in the endzone, we should have stopped him from scoring. If Jerry or "you fans" don't want other players standing on parts of the field, then take the damn logos off.

I was upset for 10 seconds but man i'm over it. You guys do the same. Not life and death. The star will be ok.

I was at the game back in 2000 when Owens first came out of the closet and just showed how classless he is and I was ironically at the game Monday Night.

It p*ssed me off when he did it then and it p*ssed me off when he did right in Roy Williams' face.

That's our house and being from Dallas, that star is the very identity of the city and you cannot go anywhere around town without seeing it.

That wasn't Roy. Nate Jones was on coverage (Frazier got hurt and the Eagles targeted Jones immediately) and then both Jones and Dixon whiffed on the tackles.

I'm surprised that the writers and many posters are so lax on Dixon's play, it was in a spectrum of awful that I can't comprehend.

You must not have been born in Texas, or your parents or school didn't teach you any Texas Pride! You must not realize that emblem on the side of our players heads is not some random animal that a team picked! Maybe you haven't noticed how the Texas State Flag, that same Flag that flies higher than any other State and at the same height as the US flag only has one Star!

We had this same topic going on at another forum and I will say the exact same thing! The Star, The Lone Star, The Lone Star on the Texas State Flag means more to me as a Texan than most people will ever know! It must not mean anything to you that we are different than every other State! 183 men standing in a church facing thousands of Mexican nationals fighting for freedom must mean nothing to you.
Sam Houston capturing Santa Ana at San Jacinto must mean nothing to you.
Juneteenth and Texas Independence Day must mean nothing to you.
Our Capitol being the only one taller than the Capitol in DC must mean nothing to you.
The only State that could divide our State into Five States if we wanted must mean nothing to you.

"Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible."
MUST MEAN NOTHING TO YOU!

The Star on my College ring must mean nothing to you! The Star in the floor of the rotunda in the Texas Capitol must mean nothing to you!
The 8,282 Five Pointed Stars on the iron fence around the Capitol must mean nothing to you!

The 8th largest economy in the world, three times the size of the Russian economy must mean nothing to you! The United States has the world's largest GNP, $9.6 trillion, followed by Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, China and (if it were a nation) Texas.

You can't be a real Texan, you had to have moved here! You didn't take Texas History. You can't be a real Texan because you don't have the Texan Pride!

You see, even after Owens did all these "horrible" things to us, we are still a state, no one died, no earthquake happened, your family is still ok right?

If the Star is to be worshipped, why the hell do we have it painted on fake plastic grass for others to walk on? Then take it off.

Do insane clinic patients have accent to Cowboyszone.com?true Roy does play with passion, but when things are going bad he also hangs his head with the rest of them. He has had several blown coverages this year. You can also see he is a frustrated football player, because he does know what people expect from him. It is obvious he cant carry this defense, he needs help, but I hate hearing the argument that he isn't supposed to be a cover guy. Tell me if you had the chance to trade shoes with him, would you want to be known as a punishing safety who cant cover a wheel chair patient. Not me! First of all, i don't think the Cowboys even noticed he did that. I mean you just got burned, why the hell watch the guys celebration?

That's kind of Carpertbagger like to not get pissed? :p

Carpertbagger: an outsider who seeks power or success presumptuously; "after the Civil War the carpetbaggers from the north tried to take over the south"
